Chapter 25

Ezekiel POV

I'm relieved Mom let me step outside for a breather. She's all wrapped up in planning this new place, but honestly, that tour was a bit of a drag. I think I may see if she would put in an arcade, I think that would really liven up the place.

Scanning the area, I notice a low-hanging tree swaying over the back patio. As I am looking at a tree I see a bird nest. In the nest I see a couple of babies moving around in it. It manages to glide a bit before crash-landing on the other side of the fence that is lining the back space.

No time to waste—I swing the gate open and hustle over to where it landed. Crouching down, I check out the little guy. Poor thing's trembling like crazy. "Hang tight, buddy. I'll get you back home safe and sound," I assure it, reaching out to scoop it up.
