Sister Inlaw

I woke up on the couch still surrounded by clothes. That was enough to make me less stressed. Denzel was still home.

I had hopes of meeting him and maybe, apologizing once more but those thoughts were dashed when I went up to his room and I heard skins slapping and low moans from whomever the girl he brought home was. They were still on it, even up to this morning?

I wondered if he remembered he had work to go to. I retreated to the door and left. I didn't drive. Taking a taxi might distract me from grilling about Denzel all day because I'll be using his gift — the car to move around.

I arrived at the boutique. I wasn't expecting to see Lena already waiting for me. I guessed she really wanted to meet me.

"Hi, Lena. It's so good to see you." I gushed.

"Likewise." She smiled.

"I think you'll love our newest arrivals."

The sales representative took her to the collection and I stood aside, watching her pick the most expensive ones and of course, her preference.

"I'm so happy you're okay, after throwing up. You must have been stressed." She said after we both sat down to chill in the waiting room. I offered her wine but she declined and went with water.

"Yeah, it weighed on me all of a sudden," I replied.

"I'm a housewife. Taking care of the kids is work on its own."

But you've got a nanny, a chef, and a housekeeper.

"Yes, it's really too much. It's good Rehan understands and he works hard to provide for the family."

"Actually, my father is the CEO of TRA company. I have 10% of the profit so that income covers pretty much, a lot of things." She casually revealed.

I squealed in my clothes. She's the daughter of a billionaire. TRA is one of the biggest companies globally. I remember when we had to do a project about what makes them so successful.

Rehan sure married a gold mine.

"...my marriage sealed a deal with the Morgan family. Although it's arranged, Rehan and I have been dating way before our families had an interest in creating an alliance." She added.

Wow, she's sharing a lot of information.

"You're lucky, Lena. You both are blessed, I must say." Color me impressed. They're both better than what Denzel and I are playing at.

"I guess so." She chuckled. "What about you and Denzel? You have to tell me something about you two. Denzel is like my little brother, He's all grown up now he's trying to settle down."

How do I put this plainly?

"Nothing much, he's a really private person so we had to keep it secret for a while. He spends the most and he's generous. I just wish I can understand him better the same way he understands me..."

"You don't have to worry about anything. The more you spend time with him, the more you both connect. No matter what, I'm rooting for you both." She soothed.

"Thank you." I mouthed.

My phone buzzed and I cursed under my breath on seeing a text message from Birdie. We had a girl's hang out today and I'm running late.

"You going somewhere?" Lena asked noticing the look on my face.

"Yeah, it's a hang-out my friends are hosting," I answered.

"It's alright, I'll drop you off." She grinned and I agreed.

I carried her shopping bags as we both headed to the tinted car. Inside, it smelt fluffy just like her baby. Then, we took off into the road. I gave her the address.

"When I was in high school, I used to have many friends but growing up, we all parted ways. Some of them moved to another country to study, some got roped into their family's business while some simply...disappeared to where no one would find them so they can live their life the way they wanted. I haven't had any friends since then, even in the university." Lena narrated with her eyes peering into the street.

"I'm sorry about that. It must have been so lonely." I comforted.

"It really was until I met, Rehan. He made living less boring." She smiled so happily.

I wanted to tell her that I've never been in love before but that would be crazy considering I have Denzel to 'love'. So, I kept quiet until we arrived at the house.

"Thanks, Lena. I'll see you some other time." I winked.

She chuckled. "Since it's a hang-out, maybe I'll come look around before leaving. I have nothing to do at home anyway." She shrugged before turning off the car engine.

She doesn't know what she's about to get into.

We exit the car and went into the house. A loud music was playing from the speakers. Birdie and Cali with three other girls were sitting on the couch talking and laughing.

"Hey, bitch!" Birdie exclaimed and ran to hug me.

"Welcome, flawless skin!" Cali squealed, leading a confused Lena into the house.

"Finally, girls! We are all together, may the fun begin!"

Cali went around serving drinks. Lena didn't want to drink but she changed her mind and grabbed a glass. We made a toast and I drank mine in one gulp.

Putting on some music, we started dancing and Birdie brought her twerking self to the table. I was surprised Lena joined us and then, I realized she was tipsy. I didn't stop her when she took more drinks for herself. It wouldn't be fun if I act like a babysitter in an unwinding hangout.

Reaching for my phone, we took some photos together. Then, we got grouped and played games.

I couldn't stop Birdie and Cali from talking dirty, especially mentioning the professor they have fixed a date to smash.

By the time we were done, it was getting dark outside. Rehan had given Lena a dozen missed calls but she was too drunk to talk. I picked it up eventually and told him we were on our way home.

While Birdie and I led Lena by hand to her car, I saw someone leaning by the tree and watching me.

I put Lena in the back seat before turning to Birdie.

"Is that Jay over there?" I asked her.

She looked past me and nodded.

"That dude moved into this street last month." She answered. "Go talk to him. He must want something because he's never been here before."

I hesitated but I had to go anyway.

"Hi, Jay. What are you doing here?" I queried.

"I saw you while working by so I just stopped to say 'hi'."

Jay was my ex-boyfriend. We didn't even last up to a year before breaking up. We weren't enemies but I can't say if we were good friends either.

"Okay, then. I'm leaving—"

"I've been hearing weird things about you tho. They say you sleep with men in hotels like a slut. I want you to be careful."

"It's none of your business. I'm an adult now and I really don't give a shit about what they say about me." I poked him on the shoulder before heading back to the car.

"Who's that?" Lena asked and I was startled she was awake.

"An old friend," I mumbled.

"Don't cheat on Denzel. He loves you for you to do that to him." She drawled with sleepy eyes.

If only she knows Denzel is the one having escapades throughout the night with another woman.

"It's not like that. He just wanted to say hi. Besides, I love Denzel too much to cheat on him. His body is enough for me." I rambled.

"His body, huh? That's so naughty!" She giggled.

I got Lena home and luckily, she was still sane enough to tell me her address. We had to pass security before driving through a garden. The main house was just like the Morgans.

I found Rehan outside. He rushed out the moment he saw the car.

He was worried about her but when he carried her into his arms, he was staring at her like he'd seen a ghost.

"What have you done to her? I've never seen her so...drunk." He inquired.

"I'm so sorry, we got carried away." I humbly said handing the car key to him.

"Are you walking all the way to the gate?" His next sentence stopped me.

"Yeah,"

"Not on my watch. I'll call Denzel right away and he will come pick you up."

"No... I'm fine."

"I insist. It's late to let you wander off on your own. Come inside."

I stood there for a while, receiving the windy night before dragging my feet inside the house.
