I woke up on the couch still surrounded by clothes. That was enough to make me less stressed. Denzel was still home.
I had hopes of meeting him and maybe, apologizing once more but those thoughts were dashed when I went up to his room and I heard skins slapping and low moans from whomever the girl he brought home was. They were still on it, even up to this morning?
I wondered if he remembered he had work to go to. I retreated to the door and left. I didn't drive. Taking a taxi might distract me from grilling about Denzel all day because I'll be using his gift — the car to move around.
I arrived at the boutique. I wasn't expecting to see Lena already waiting for me. I guessed she really wanted to meet me.
"Hi, Lena. It's so good to see you." I gushed.
"Likewise." She smiled.
"I think you'll love our newest arrivals."
The sales representative took her to the collection and I stood aside, watching her pick the most expensive ones and of course, her preference.
"I'm so happy you're okay, after throwing up. You must have been stressed." She said after we both sat down to chill in the waiting room. I offered her wine but she declined and went with water.
"Yeah, it weighed on me all of a sudden," I replied.
"I'm a housewife. Taking care of the kids is work on its own."
But you've got a nanny, a chef, and a housekeeper.
"Yes, it's really too much. It's good Rehan understands and he works hard to provide for the family."
"Actually, my father is the CEO of TRA company. I have 10% of the profit so that income covers pretty much, a lot of things." She casually revealed.
I squealed in my clothes. She's the daughter of a billionaire. TRA is one of the biggest companies globally. I remember when we had to do a project about what makes them so successful.
Rehan sure married a gold mine.
"...my marriage sealed a deal with the Morgan family. Although it's arranged, Rehan and I have been dating way before our families had an interest in creating an alliance." She added.
Wow, she's sharing a lot of information.
"You're lucky, Lena. You both are blessed, I must say." Color me impressed. They're both better than what Denzel and I are playing at.
"I guess so." She chuckled. "What about you and Denzel? You have to tell me something about you two. Denzel is like my little brother, He's all grown up now he's trying to settle down."
How do I put this plainly?
"Nothing much, he's a really private person so we had to keep it secret for a while. He spends the most and he's generous. I just wish I can understand him better the same way he understands me..."
"You don't have to worry about anything. The more you spend time with him, the more you both connect. No matter what, I'm rooting for you both." She soothed.
"Thank you." I mouthed.
My phone buzzed and I cursed under my breath on seeing a text message from Birdie. We had a girl's hang out today and I'm running late.
"You going somewhere?" Lena asked noticing the look on my face.
"Yeah, it's a hang-out my friends are hosting," I answered.
"It's alright, I'll drop you off." She grinned and I agreed.
I carried her shopping bags as we both headed to the tinted car. Inside, it smelt fluffy just like her baby. Then, we took off into the road. I gave her the address.
"When I was in high school, I used to have many friends but growing up, we all parted ways. Some of them moved to another country to study, some got roped into their family's business while some simply...disappeared to where no one would find them so they can live their life the way they wanted. I haven't had any friends since then, even in the university." Lena narrated with her eyes peering into the street.
"I'm sorry about that. It must have been so lonely." I comforted.
"It really was until I met, Rehan. He made living less boring." She smiled so happily.
I wanted to tell her that I've never been in love before but that would be crazy considering I have Denzel to 'love'. So, I kept quiet until we arrived at the house.
"Thanks, Lena. I'll see you some other time." I winked.
She chuckled. "Since it's a hang-out, maybe I'll come look around before leaving. I have nothing to do at home anyway." She shrugged before turning off the car engine.
She doesn't know what she's about to get into.
We exit the car and went into the house. A loud music was playing from the speakers. Birdie and Cali with three other girls were sitting on the couch talking and laughing.
"Hey, bitch!" Birdie exclaimed and ran to hug me.
"Welcome, flawless skin!" Cali squealed, leading a confused Lena into the house.
"Finally, girls! We are all together, may the fun begin!"
Cali went around serving drinks. Lena didn't want to drink but she changed her mind and grabbed a glass. We made a toast and I drank mine in one gulp.
Putting on some music, we started dancing and Birdie brought her twerking self to the table. I was surprised Lena joined us and then, I realized she was tipsy. I didn't stop her when she took more drinks for herself. It wouldn't be fun if I act like a babysitter in an unwinding hangout.
Reaching for my phone, we took some photos together. Then, we got grouped and played games.
I couldn't stop Birdie and Cali from talking dirty, especially mentioning the professor they have fixed a date to smash.
By the time we were done, it was getting dark outside. Rehan had given Lena a dozen missed calls but she was too drunk to talk. I picked it up eventually and told him we were on our way home.
While Birdie and I led Lena by hand to her car, I saw someone leaning by the tree and watching me.
I put Lena in the back seat before turning to Birdie.
"Is that Jay over there?" I asked her.
She looked past me and nodded.
"That dude moved into this street last month." She answered. "Go talk to him. He must want something because he's never been here before."
I hesitated but I had to go anyway.
"Hi, Jay. What are you doing here?" I queried.
"I saw you while working by so I just stopped to say 'hi'."
Jay was my ex-boyfriend. We didn't even last up to a year before breaking up. We weren't enemies but I can't say if we were good friends either.
"Okay, then. I'm leaving—"
"I've been hearing weird things about you tho. They say you sleep with men in hotels like a slut. I want you to be careful."
"It's none of your business. I'm an adult now and I really don't give a shit about what they say about me." I poked him on the shoulder before heading back to the car.
"Who's that?" Lena asked and I was startled she was awake.
"An old friend," I mumbled.
"Don't cheat on Denzel. He loves you for you to do that to him." She drawled with sleepy eyes.
If only she knows Denzel is the one having escapades throughout the night with another woman.
"It's not like that. He just wanted to say hi. Besides, I love Denzel too much to cheat on him. His body is enough for me." I rambled.
"His body, huh? That's so naughty!" She giggled.
I got Lena home and luckily, she was still sane enough to tell me her address. We had to pass security before driving through a garden. The main house was just like the Morgans.
I found Rehan outside. He rushed out the moment he saw the car.
He was worried about her but when he carried her into his arms, he was staring at her like he'd seen a ghost.
"What have you done to her? I've never seen her so...drunk." He inquired.
"I'm so sorry, we got carried away." I humbly said handing the car key to him.
"Are you walking all the way to the gate?" His next sentence stopped me.
"Yeah,"
"Not on my watch. I'll call Denzel right away and he will come pick you up."
"No... I'm fine."
"I insist. It's late to let you wander off on your own. Come inside."
I stood there for a while, receiving the windy night before dragging my feet inside the house.
I sat on the chair, waiting for Denzel to come. Rehan's house was more homely than I thought. There were toys everywhere and framed baby photos of their kids hanging on all sides of the wall. I was offered wine but declined because I had enough at the house party. I picked up my phone and scrolled through the photos Denzel and i took at the bridge. They were so stunning, I was starting to think I could be a model. "Sheldon, she wants to see you." Rehan said standing at the landing of the stairs. Mutely, I followed him up to Lena's room. She was lying on the bed, wasted and her face dug on the mirror."Are you alright?" I asked softly and she grabbed my wrist."My earrings. I put them in your purse when we were still at the house. Can I have them back?" She asked stretching her hand.I nodded and checked my purse. Her diamond earrings were in there. I took them and put it back in her palm."Here you go." I said smiling at her."I'm going to be In so much trouble." She chuckled mania
His silence was only for a second before the sound of his phone ringing blared out the awkward atmosphere. He excused himself to take the call. I was relieved that he didn't expose us."Nice talk. I'll see you around, Sheldon." The ex cheerfully said before leaving. I gathered my stuff and left the beach as well. On getting to the reception with Denzel, we both received gift bags from the staff. I was excited and couldn't wait to see what was in them.At the suite, I had already emptied my gift bag on the bed to see the items. It was a body spray, some towels and golden earrings."This is what I got. What about yours?" I asked Denzel when he sat still watching me."I don't know. I haven't checked." He breathed out."Fine, let me check them, then." I offered reaching for his bag."You can have it. Whatever is In there." He suddenly said, sounding cold and irritated."I didn't want to have them. I just wanted to see what's inside.""You've had my father, my cousin, what is stopping you
"This is stupid, I shouldn't be taken your damn advice. I don't know if this meeting and trips is worth the risk and time." Denzel complained as we went to the conference hall together. He was dressed in his formal suit and ready to go with his phones and laptop in his hand.Last night was difficult to live through considering what's going on in his office."Trust me on this. You're making the right decision. Your father should be man enough to control things while you're not there." I encouraged."I turned my phone on silent so that I wouldn't get his phone calls about arresting you." He grumbled."You should know he has always wanted me out of his family. We can't blame him." I replied, grinning. The meeting started and like a champ, Denzel convinced the team to invest in his new project. For the first time in a while, I was happy to be his fiance. When the meeting was over, I didn't expect Denzel to hug me tightly because of how successful it went.A few days later, we were on our
A calm song was playing from the speakers in the clinic. I waited patiently in the bathroom to see the results of the pregnancy test I took.Waiting for a lab result will take more time so I decided to try the two options I had. After scrolling through my phone for a couple of minutes, I finally looked into the kit lying on the sink.Shivers ran through me as I peered at the object. My heart racing on what could be the outcome of this."Negative," I whispered to myself, loving that word for the first time. I wasn't expecting a baby anytime soon. I wasn't experiencing pregnancy symptoms. I took the kit and stepped outside of the bathroom after washing both hands."It's negative!" I cheerfully said waving it before Hunter who turned flustered because of the many eyes watching. The nurses were staring and I just exposed myself in front of the other patients."I don't know how this is a good news." He breathed out."What do you mean? You wanted me to be pregnant?" I asked dumfounded."I w
Denzel wasn't looking at me. He didn't spare me a glance to notice I was sick. All he cared about was going to his parents.I got ready anyway and masked my face with enough makeup. I didn't want to look like I was dying soon. The drugs were helping and I could take steps more easily. The limousine arrived and Denzel went in a bit too quickly. I was starting to wonder if there was an emergency with the mighty Morgans. When we hit the road, I poured out my mind; "Denzel, I don't want to go through with this engagement anymore. I'm going to call it off and don't worry, I'll be the one to break it off in front of your family.""What? Why should you be the one to call it off?" He questioned.I wasn't expecting that to be the first thing he says."You want to be the one to call it off? I have an image to protect. It'll make you look like the innocent and sensible one. They'll all think I was a gold digger and you were smart enough to get rid of me before we tie the knot. You're not the onl
"What is it?" I asked turning around. I got a perfect view of his wet body and the water dripping from his hair. It reminded me of how much I wanted to have him then."Do you really think this tie will look good on the shirt? I've worn it once but I wasn't so sure..."I blinked like it would help me understand him better. "Is that really what you wanted to ask me?" I was puzzled thinking of a way to launch at him for the anxiety I had to face because he sounded stern."I'm just joking. That is not what I wanted to ask you." He chuckled and put down the tie. "Are you and Hunter in a relationship? Did you know him before I came along?"Now, that's the question I was hoping for. He knows Hunter was here in his house — alone with me. I figured that out soon."No, he's only trying to be friends. And I'm not leading him on. He obviously knows I'm engaged to his cousin. He can't do something silly knowing that.""That doesn't sound genuinely honest because he still had something to do with y
I was out of the school clinic and taken to the office where Denzel was. I thought he'd be at work but I thought wrong. He came a few minutes after I made the call."What trouble have you gotten into, my little bee?" He asked taking my hand and looking at my knuckles."Bee? Why'd you call me that?" I blurted wondering why he was suddenly sweet. Sweeter than he used to be."You stung two girls with your tail this evening even though you were outnumbered."My ears perked up. "Those two girls were hospitalized, weren't they? I warned them before they started throwing punches. They got what they deserved. You should be proud to have a strong fiancee." I was all smug and happy despite the many stitches and bandaid all over me."I thought you were gonna get sued. But the director got it all covered. He's a friend of my mom's. You're not getting into any trouble. Those girls will get punished accordingly." He assured me and I slowly withdrew my hand from his."What makes you think it's your
I got home after speaking to Winter at the club. She scared me for a second, just for a second because I didn't know if what she said was true. Was Hunter really a psychopath who was out to get my soul? His female targets never survive. Survive from what? From his amazing thick body and good stroking skills? I found it a bit funny. Because I knew if a stranger asked about me to people, they'll say horrible things first before mentioning the good attributes about me.I wasn't just anyone. I was his future sister-in-law. He can't mess with me like he did with the others. He gotta think twice about that.Denzel was downstairs when I entered the living room. He was working on his laptop. I sat beside him and leaned my body on his bicep."Clubbing again?" He asked raising his brow."It was an emergency. Your cousin wanted to do something stupid. I had to stop him. Otherwise, I don't know what he'd do to those girls who try to fight me." I pointed out."Of course, he'll try to make you worr
