LOGINSeeing me speechless, Simon immediately snatched his phone from my hand. He looked even angrier than before, as if I had crossed a line I shouldn't have crossed.
"Hello?"
"Simon, was your wife the one who answered my call? What now?"
"Calm down, it's okay! I'll be right there, just wait!" He said, ending the call.
I stood there, waiting for his explanation, my heart almost stopping. Simon glanced at me with a look of anger in his eyes. I didn't understand why he was so angry with me? What had I done wrong to make him so cold?
"Didn't I tell you never to touch my phone, let alone answer it!"
"What's wrong with a wife holding her husband's phone? What did I do wrong?"
"You're making me sicker by the day!"
"You're in a relationship with her? You're in a relationship with Erika Gonzales, aren't you...?" I shouted, filled with emotion, hoping he'd give me an explanation that would make me feel better.
"Are you accusing me of cheating?"
"It's true, you bastard...! Do you think I'm stupid? You went to her apartment to have sex with her, didn't you...?"
"Don't yell at me, you bastard...!"
A hard slap hit me in the face, making me fall to the ground. The slap made me accidentally bite my lip, causing it to bleed.
"Blood?" I muttered. Blood dripped onto the floor, and the pain worsened. I turned to Simon, hoping he'd regret it, apologize, and help me immediately. But instead, I was ignored.
He hurried away, leaving me wounded. I stood up and tried to chase after him. No matter how much it hurt, I didn't want him to see that woman again.
"Simon, wait...! Please don't go!" I said, pulling at his hand. I promised I'd forgive him as long as he stayed.
"Let go of me, I have to go now!"
"Take me to the hospital, please!"
"You're a nurse, you can treat yourself! Erika is in pain, she needs me!"
"I need you more, Simon! I'm your wife...!"
"Let go of my hand, don't you hear? Don't you see what you look like now? Go to church and become a nun, because no man will ever be interested in a boring woman like you again...!"
Simon slapped my hand away and left after shouting at me. I froze on the cold, empty floor of our house. Did I still have the right to cry? Was I allowed to cry? A woman like me, did I still deserve happiness?

"Nina, what happened to your lip?" Rachel asked when she saw my face. I smiled weakly and tried to look okay.
David approached me after hearing Rachel's words. The young man stood right in front of me and held my chin to examine my swollen, bruised lip and cheek.
"Did someone hit you?" David asked. He was even more worried about me than my own husband.
"I fell last night," I replied, swatting his hand away. I didn't want to linger, as it would only make them suspicious.
"Really? Your husband didn't hit you, did he?"
"No, David! He couldn't have hit me. My husband isn't a violent man!"
"Okay, then let me treat your wound!"
"That's not necessary, I've already applied the ointment."
"Nina...! Are you here?" Francesca, the head nurse at the clinic, exclaimed.
"Yes, I'm here, Francesca!"
"Okay, can you come to Doctor Pierre's office now? Today we'll have a patient referred for surgery, so this will be his first shift at the clinic. Doctor Hans has assigned you to assist him."
"Me?"
"Yes, considering you're one of the senior nurses and have worked at this clinic before. So Doctor Hans said you're the most skilled and responsive!"
"Wow, Nina, I thought you'd be promoted. You could be an assistant now, right?" Celine teased me.
"How could I possibly be a doctor's assistant? I'm just a nurse."
"By the way, Nina, that new doctor is really handsome. He's so young and incredibly handsome. It turns out not all geniuses are nerdy, huh?"
I responded to Celine's remark with a faint smile, and besides, I didn't have the energy to think about someone's appearance right now. My heart and mind were still in turmoil because Simon hadn't returned until morning. He hadn't even answered my calls or texts.
I walked to the office of Dr. Pierre Alexander, a neurosurgeon who was supposed to start work two weeks ago, but had been delayed until today.
Knock...knock...
"Excuse me, Dr. Pierre!" I said, knocking twice on his office door.
"Please come in!" He replied. I could hear a young man's voice, and as they say, I was a little amazed to see him sitting in his office chair wearing a light blue shirt.
He was a fair-skinned young man, tall and muscular, with dark brown hair and beautiful hazel eyes. He turned to me as I entered and smiled gently.
"Good morning, Nina Meiyer?" He greeted me.
"Yes, Doctor!"
"Nice to meet you. Doctor Hans recommended you to help me with my initial duties." It was unexpected. He was a friendly, smiling young doctor.
"I don't know why I was recommended," I said, trying to smile even though my lips and cheeks were still sore.
"Please sit!"
"Thank you," I said, sitting down in the chair in front of his desk.
He looked at me intently, as if noticing something odd about my face. The cut on my lip and the bruise on my cheek were too obvious to ignore.
"Are you okay? If you're feeling unwell, you can rest, and we can discuss things when you're feeling better."
"I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about!" I said, my voice trembling. My heart felt so fragile, the image of Simon's disgusted face constantly bothering me.
I should have stayed home today, waiting for him and checking for him. I wouldn't be able to work well if my feelings made me feel like I wasn't on the ground.
My tears flowed without me realizing it. I really didn't want to cry in front of someone I'd just met. But I didn't know where to take this pain.
Doctor Pierre rose from his seat and approached me, feeling guilty for confusing him with my behavior. He took my hand and asked me to stand up and look at him.
"I-I'm sorry, Doctor! I-"
Without a word, without warning, he kissed my lips. I was shocked, but my mind felt blank. The suddenness of his kiss actually made me forget my pain.
"Don't cry, Nina! Since when have you become such a weak woman?"

I couldn't hear what they were discussing from where I stood, yet I was incredibly curious; those two men were truly peculiar and strangely enough, I found myself deeply intrigued by them now.I brewed three cups of tea and carried them over on a tray. I fought hard to suppress the nervousness and awkwardness I felt feelings that made me realize just how long it had been since I’d been in a situation where I could simply do whatever I pleased.Jake and Pierre stopped talking the moment I approached, and the atmosphere grew even more strained; they shared remarkably similar personalities. Well, Pierre was far more aggressive toward me, likely because he was genuinely, literally into me."Please, help yourselves! I brewed some Ceylon tea," I said, setting the three cups down on the table."No need to be so formal. You two already know each other, right? So, just act natural." Jake remarked, his tone sharp and cold. He was, to me, a difficult person to have a casual conversation with.Pi
"Do I always have to open the door for you?" Jake said, his expression cold the moment he opened the door. Seeing his handsome face again, knowing he was gay, made me feel awkward.I felt that no matter how beautiful or sexy I might appear to other men, to him, I was nothing more than an insignificant person. Besides, what had I expected? Just because he'd helped me this much didn't mean we had to have a special relationship."I'm sorry, I'll find a new place to live as soon as possible!" I said. Jake stepped inside, leaving me to close the door."I'll give you the entry code for the house, that way, you won't have to ring the doorbell like a guest anymore.""Sorry for the trouble. By the way, has anyone contacted you to say they're coming to visit?" I asked hesitantly. Jake turned and looked at me with a surprised expression."How did you know?""So, he really is coming?""How did you know someone was coming to the house?""Pierre, he's a doctor at the clinic where I work, so I know
I can't wrap my head around any of this. The more I think about it, the more it feels like such a small world.Jake, my neighbor is likely the son of my first boyfriend, he’s also the maternal half-brother of Leo, who is the stepson of my husband’s mistress. And the most shocking part of all? Dr. Pierre, who has been secretly infatuated with me for ten years, is Jake’s cousin. His mother is the older sister of my first boyfriend, Jake’s father. It’s absolutely insane, my head spins just trying to make sense of it. How is it possible that four men who played accidental roles in my life actually know each other?"What is it, Nina? You look like you're deep in thought. Does the reality of it bother you?" Pierre’s voice sounded almost mocking."Yes, it bothers me a little, because I never expected you to know him.""You still haven't answered my question, what was it like having sex with him?""Why do you need to know what it was like? Does it matter that much to you, that you—""Jake is
I couldn't help but smile after hearing Francesca say that, I was certain she had been trying to suppress those feelings all along."Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment, Francis!" I said, walking away. I didn't want the conversation to drag on and create tension between us."For a whore, an insult counts as a compliment, doesn't it? Tch, it's truly pathetic if—"Slap... My hand landed squarely across her face. That bastard, it seemed the more I let her get away with things, the bolder she became."Why did you slap me...?" She screamed, her face bright red as she clutched the cheek where my hand had struck."Why? You're still asking why? Is that the kind of language used by an educated person who treats patients with gentleness and courtesy every day? Haha...you're a joke, don't make me laugh!""You bitch, what have you done to me...!" Francesca flew into a rage and shoved me hard, sending me crashing to the floor."Let go of me...! You bastard...!" I screamed, struggling and thras
"Haha..." I chuckled inwardly at the sight of their faces, which looked just like those of pugs. It was a relief to finally stop holding back and actually respond to their remarks."Why are you smiling like that? Is something funny, Mrs. Nina?"I was so elated that I hadn't even noticed Doctor Pierre standing in the doorway of his office. His cold, serious expression made him look incredibly attractive, yet the way he’d aggressively taken me to bed made me realize he was quite skilled at 'satisfying' me."Good morning, Doctor Pierre?" I greeted him. A smile spread across my lips, a departure from my usual habit of maintaining a formal demeanor in public this time, I chose to be casual.I walked closer to him, projecting a new image: a woman who was free, friendly, and cheerful, the person I used to be before I decided to marry that bastard. Pierre seemed slightly taken aback by my unusual reaction. His gaze dropped to my cleavage, which was clearly visible, something I had intentiona
"Did you have sex with a porn star and film it?"Simon’s question made me realize just how fast the video had spread, he had found out about it almost immediately.I tried to think of how to answer him. Although I had initially resolved to stand my ground if he tried to pry into my personal life, the official bond between us kept me from acting rashly."Yes, as you can see, I did it!""Damn it, you must have completely lost your mind just because I cheated on you!""Yeah, maybe so! I just wanted to have some fun, just like you did!""Have fun, you say? This just makes you look like a cheap slut! What happened to the virtuous woman you used to be for all those years?""Cheap or not, I don't care. I don't care about anything anymore. Isn't it true that you prefer whores over a virtuous wife? Haha...so, why are you protesting and complaining?""Damn it, Nina, you—""Listen to me, Simon! I’ve chosen my path, and I’ve proven to you that a woman can cross the line when she isn't valued. You
I endured the pain with a bitter smile that I still tried to put on. Let's just say he was right and I was wrong. This was his house, after all; even if I were his wife, it wouldn't be my home."Okay, I'm sorry!" I said as I headed to my bedroom. My mother-in-law and her three children were holding
I stopped my car in front of the church, a place I always came to whenever I felt troubled. I did it again, yes, I made the same mistake again, and that's why God was punishing me. He was punishing me for what I'd done with Doctor Pierre, and that's why He showed me something I'd never wanted to se
I was surprised to hear him address me as if this wasn't the first time we'd met. What was wrong with him? Had we met before?"D-Doctor Pierre, I don't think we should be doing something like this. We—""Why not?""Of course, because we're colleagues and we're in the clinic, so—""Don't make me lau
"Putting on makeup and wearing sexy clothes again? Do I really have to do that again to make Simon happy?" I thought to myself as I looked at my face in the mirror. It seemed like I hadn't changed much since I decided to draw closer to God and distance myself from the glitz and glamour of the world
