Chapter 5
AlexI rolled my eyes when my dad offered this girl a ride home. He’s always such a people pleaser and way too nice to everyone. Dad always says that a good alpha knows how to be a leader without instilling fear in people. Something I have yet to master.I peered through my dads car window trying to get a look at the doctor’s daughter and was struck by a pair piercing blue eyes staring back at me. All at once I felt all the breath leave my body. She was absolutely gorgeous with long brown hair and big blue eyes that could see right through you. Her voice carried through the car window breaking me from my haze.“Sure that would be nice thank you” as she walked over to the door to the back seat and opened it. She struggled slightly to get in and looked up at me somewhat embarrassed.“Short people problems”, she laughed shyly and shrugged her shouldersThe moment she got in I got hit with the most intoxicating smell. It smelled like cinnamon and sugar mixed with something floral that I couldn’t quite recognize. Ajax started pacing in my head practically salivating over this girl we didn’t even know, who wasn’t even a werewolf, but a witch! What was his deal?“So Sierra, is it? Your dad tells me you’re in your senior year! That’s exciting”, my dad said breaking me from my own thoughts.“Yea I guess” she said quietly.“Oh not a fan of school are we? This one over here wasn’t either”, dad nudging me with his elbow. I rolled my eyes at him. He was trying to force us to talk and get along, but I honestly couldn’t keep Ajax still in my mind for more than five seconds to even formulate a sentence. Dad noticed and gave me a quizzical look. Just as I was about to open my mouth to make a fool of myself we pulled up in front of a house. It wasn’t small by any means, but much smaller than our pack house back home. The front had dozens of flowers and vines wrapped around a white Pickett fence. The house was white with blue shutters and had a large wrap around porch. It was idyllic, something you would picture out of a story book or a sappy rom-com.She quickly opened the back door of the truck as if she had been nervous to get away from us, and made her way up the driveway to the house. An older gentleman sat on the porch and brought her in for a warm hug. It must be her dad, the coven’s doctor. My dad grabbed the two boxes of pastries from the back seat and climbed out of the truck.“Hiya John! Good to see you again”, dad shouted“Alpha Leo, welcome to my home. I see you’ve already met Sierra my daughter. Please come on in, do you need any help with your bags?” He said to us“No we’ll be ok. Alex can you grab the bags from the trunk and bring them up to the house”“What do I look like a valet?” I complainedDad sighed “Could you at least try to behave while we’re here?”I grabbed the bags from the trunk and made my way up to the house.“Sierra dear, why don’t you show Alex where they will be staying while Alpha Leo and I go find your mom. I hope you guys like lasagna because that’s what we’re having for dinner! My wife makes a mean lasagna” he chuckled while rubbing his belly.“Lasagna sounds delicious doesn’t it Alex?”“Uh yea lasagna is fine thank you”, I saidDad and Dr. John made their way into the house leaving Sierra and I alone on the porch. She had her hands clasped tightly in front of her and she was looking down at her feet. She was all fidgety I could tell she was uncomfortable. Before I could say anything she practically whispered for me to follow her. The inside of the house was large, with high ceilings and an open concept living and dining area. I could see a middle aged woman working away in the kitchen. The smell of lasagna hitting my nose.“Wow that does smell good” I said as my stomach rumbled.“Yea moms one of the best cooks in town she’s got her lasagna recipe down to a science. Don’t ever tell her you don’t like her cooking though she’ll never let it go”, she chuckled. She made a left down a hallway before we hit the main kitchen area and stopped in front of a door.“Our guest suite is in here. There are two beds in this one and the room across the hall has a king so feel free to use whichever rooms you like. Both have an en suite bathroom and you should find everything you need. If there’s anything else feel free to let me know” she said while looking down at her feet again.Hm maybe she was the shy hard to get girl.“And where do you sleep I said” trying to gauge her reaction with a little flirting. She quickly picked up her head her eyes meeting mine and boring into my soul. “I’m on the other side of the house. This side is for our guests only. Well I’m going to go if you need anything let me know” she said far too quickly, trying to escape.“Well I guess I’ll just have to come find you if I think of something you can do for me” I said rather too smugly as she practically ran down the hallway.Damn she had a pretty nice ass too even if it was covered in powdered sugar from the bakery.I made my way into one of the bedrooms and put down the bags. Now that she was away from me I was able to think and see clearly. What the hell was wrong with me? By all means this girl was drop dead gorgeous but I couldn’t get involved with a witch and the daughter of the covens doctor to say the least! But just thinking of her tight little ass walking away from me my dick got hard in my pants and I had to adjust myself. I need to keep it together this weekend. There’d be no point in breaking the poor girl’s heart. You could tell she was shy and inexperienced. She could never handle someone like me, someone who exuded Alpha dominance over anything and everything.Chapter 15 AlexIt wasn’t until Friday morning that Elder Scott made his way over to pack lands. If I was going to have him check the border I wanted to make sure it was done before the start of our fall festival, especially with Sierra and Alyssa visiting. I met him at a local park on the very edge of the pack lands and we would work our way all the way along the border. “Good morning Alex”, Elder Scott said. He was dressed very differently than the last time I saw him. He looked so much younger and carefree dressed in basketball shorts, a t-shirt, and sneakers. He must’ve noticed me taking in his attire because he said, “Well I wasn’t going to go walking through the woods with slacks on now was I?” I chuckled. “I guess not” I replied.“Well we might as well get started, lead the way Alex” “You know, I didn’t realize that magic spells just fade away or become weaker” I questioned him. “Well the original spell was put on these lands over ten years ago by Elder Wynn himself. I do
Sierra Once Alex left on Sunday I finally felt like I could breathe again. I definitely needed the clarity and the distance from him. I find myself replaying every word, and every look and realize how ridiculous I was being. He was a stranger and I was probably never going to see him again. I threw myself into my school work for the entire day on Sunday, welcoming the distraction so that I would not think of him. I was typing up my English essay listening to music in my headphones when I noticed my mom standing in the doorway to my room. I pulled my earbuds out queuing her to talk, but she just stood there looking at me. “Mom…. You ok?” I asked her with a quizzical look on my face. “Sierra” she said sighing and moving to sit on the edge of my bed. “I am so very proud of you for what you did yesterday, but I am also so very mad at you” she said. “Look, mom you don’t need to worry about me. I’m fine, and I certainly couldn’t stand by and do nothing” I said shrugging it off. “I k
Chapter 13 Alex “So you and my baby sister huh?” Dave looks at me. “Look it’s not like…” He stops me mid-sentence and puts his hand up. “You know I have to give you the big brother ‘don’t you dare break her heart speech’ don’t you? Although I’m pretty sure she can handle herself, I wouldn’t be her big brother without at least mildly threatening you” Dave says, smiling at me. “Well I give you credit for threatening a werewolf especially an Alpha at that” I laugh his way. “You really don’t give us enough credit do you? From what I hear you needed her more last night than she needed you, but don’t worry I won’t go blabbing to your pack about how a witch just happened to save your life” Dave smiles warmly, clearly teasing me. “Believe me I am very grateful for what your sister did for me last night, I just wish I could repay the favor.” “I’m sure you’ll think of something” Dave says as he makes his way back towards his bedroom. “Hey Dave, wait a second, do you think the elders w
Chapter 12 Sierra All night I couldn’t sleep, and found myself tossing and turning in bed. Using that much magic should have completely drained me to the point where I should be unconscious right now, but for some reason I’m more awake then ever. I kept playing over and over in my head what happened. Why were there even rogues in the woods? How did they get past the protection spell? Alex obviously was protecting me, but why? I guess part of the treaty is to protect the town. Is that the only reason he jumped in front of me? My mind continues racing and reliving everything that happened and all the possible alternative outcomes had Alex and Alpha Leo not been there. I obviously couldn’t just let him die. Would we have made it back to the town hospital in time? Maybe. Even now thinking about losing him is making my chest ache. I seriously can’t be feeling this way I barely even know him! For some reason I feel this strong magnetic pull towards him. I’ve never felt this way about anyo
Chapter 11“You did WHAT?!?” My dad yells at me in the hall right outside the hospital room that Alex and Alpha Leo are currently in. “His leg was broken in several places and it looked like he severed an artery what did you want me to do dad just let him bleed to death before we got him to the hospital”“Look you did a great and brave thing tonight but you could’ve killed yourself using that much magic. I’m honestly surprised you’re even standing here and not unconscious out in the woods” “Surprisingly, Dad, I feel ok. A little weak, but I am craving some chocolate, you wouldn’t happen to have any in your office” “What? Chocolate, maybe we should take you into an exam room and get you checked out just to be sure”“Really Dad, I’m fine go check on Alex. I think I’ll head home” “Not so fast young lady you’re going to come in there with me. Let’s go, NOW” Dad knocks lightly on the door and enters the room where it looks like Alpha Leo and Alex are in deep conversation. “Well your
Chapter 10 SierraSeriously he was going to scoff at witches? I know we weren’t all friendly but now I know how he truly feels about us. He thinks he’s above us because he’s a werewolf and the future alpha. You have to be shitting me. “Do you smell that” he says grabbing my arm as I try to yank it away. “Smell what? All I smell is fire” I say and finally look him in the eyes. Ajax is shining through and he looks as if he is on full alert “We need to get out of here now! We all do” he yells. Suddenly I see his eyes go white and I have no idea what’s going on. Alex places himself in front of me and I hear a rumble and growl coming from his chest as he crouches down facing the forest. As I look into the woods I see a pair of eyes shining back at me. “Everyone run!” Alex shouts with a powerful aura coming off of him in waves. The wolf comes through to the clearing looking at Alex and I. All at once everyone starts screaming and running back towards the town. I turn back around and
