Sera closed her eyes and both wolves disappeared. Her breathing accelerated and she began to sway. Her pressure dropped and the panic took her again. Why was she so weak?

Her breath became more and more panting and she tried to take a deep breath and let go slowly, as Yelena had taught.

Sera began to calm down, but fear was still present in her bones.

"Sera" Someone shouted at her, it was Kyria.

Thomas was after her and as surprising as it was, Karim.

He stood before everyone and knelt in front of her.

"What happened, weirdo? You "are" pale. Someone attacked you?" He held her by the shoulders and shook her, looking surprisingly worried.

"Hey. Take it easy. She’s scared." - Kyria said.

And so she was taken to the ward. Again. Sera was getting tired of all this repetition.

The doctor sent everyone out and made her sit on the bed. Sera watched as she examined her. A woman of gentle smile, short black hair and light pink lab coat.

"What happened dear? Your heart is still racing."

Sera lied, wrote that she had a panic attack. Well, she did. In fact, she only hid a few details. Who would believe her?

And maybe it was all in her mind. It was what she wanted to believe.

Samantha asked her to rest a little, and that she would prescribe some medicines for her.

Sera lay down and did not imagine that she was so tired. However, crises always left her exhausted.

Even so, her dreams were not peaceful. Fire was spreading throughout the forest, she heard screams even if there was no body left. But he who cried was not worthy of his mercy.

Sera woke up, sweating.

"Hey, young lady. Calm down. These crises are quite recurring from the looks of it." - Yelena said, giving her a glass of water with the prescribed medicine.

Sera thanked, looking at the girl with blue eyes, curious.

"I started helping out in the infirmary recently. While the doctor, Ty is not present."

"But, I’m also curious." - Yelena approached their faces. " About the curse that surrounds the 4 great clans." - Said moving away.

"If you’re all right, you can leave. The principal says you have a test tomorrow and you can do it if you’re better."

Yelena retired and Sera stayed in the infirmary for a few seconds. When she left, Kyria waited for her to indicate where the test would be done.

"Sorry." - Wrote. "I’m giving a lot of work."

Kyria laughed as they walked.

"That’s what friends are for. Don’t worry. I’m here with you."

Sera thanked with a wave.

"Are you sure you’re okay? Did you see something to scream like that? I confess I was surprised to see it was you."

Sera hesitated, however, it would be nice to have someone to trust.

"Maybe you think I’m crazy, I think I might have imagined."

"Tell me and we can discuss it." - Kyria smiled.

Then, Sera wrote down what she saw in her notebook and showed everything to her friend.

Kyria outlined several reactions at first. Fear, amazement, and unbelief. However, her expression soon became thoughtful.

"Thomas and I can do some research tomorrow. It’s been a long day." - I said yawning.

Sera also stretched and gave a long yawn.

They went to the bedroom and the redhead indicated the place of the test when they passed it, so Sera would not be lost.

Sera thanked the school for giving the students pajamas, it was good to be able to put something comfortable to sleep. And for the first time, she had a dreamless sleep.

--------

The next day, Sera spent the day studying. She hadn’t done it for a long time and maybe her mother’s old books wouldn’t be enough.

But her mind wandered to the night before. And she remembered the first day, the whispers about the curse. She felt the shiver when he thought she might be the cause.

Sera thought about what would happen if she disappeared. She didn’t have an important family, she didn’t even have a family.

Also, she was not known by anyone. Much less useful to anyone. In reality, she felt a hindrance. It had only been a problem for everyone since it got there.

Maybe she should leave or... disappear for good. After all, no one would miss her.

Sera was dispersed from her thoughts by being frightened when someone sat next to her.

Thomas apologized with a gesture. And he wrote the same request on a sheet.

Sera smiled and only wrote that she did not expect.

"Thank you for helping Kyria that day, I’m glad we have someone brave on our side." - He wrote in an elegant handwriting.

"It is my duty as a friend. I can no longer allow an innocent person to be attacked"

"More? Do you know anyone who has gone through this?" - He asked with a serene look.

And Sera noticed that Thomas was smart. Smart and observant. Had he discovered anything about her?

"You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. But know that I’m here to listen." - He gave a gentle smile.

Sera thanked with a smile and continued.

"I’m sorry, but you’re important to me and Kyria. A new friend. I’ve noticed your look. I’ve felt that way. But know that you’re someone important. We like having you here, Sera."

Sera was surprised. She always felt that feeling when she saw how kind some people were there. It warmed her heart without her understanding why.

"Thank you. I was never important to anyone. " She didn’t know why it was so easy to open up to Thomas. "I’ve always been treated like someone who didn’t deserve to live."

Thomas looked at her with pity. A look she hated receiving. But even that didn’t piss her off coming from him.

"I think we all deserve to live. I’ve wondered why someone like me, the way I was born, should exist." - He stopped writing for a few seconds, as if he remembered something. A serious expression took over his face for a few seconds.

"But I understood that we should live for ourselves and not for others. We will always find someone who likes us and will miss us, even when we think we are alone." - And Thomas returned to smile. " Kyria and I will miss you if you go, Sera." - He said, taking your hand.

Sera accepted, smiled and wrote.

"I’d miss you, too."

And without knowing the reason, she thought that for some reason she would miss Karim too.
