Blaire's POV

I let out a tired sigh trying to brush off the worry in my chest as I thought of a way to stop my brothers from going to the dinner. The thought of talking to Ares crossed my mind but it sent a shiver down my spine as the memory of him cheating on me the previous day flashed through my mind.

Shaking my head quickly, I got rid of the thought immediately.

The only time Ares had ever gotten close to me was the night he saved me and despite the fact that the bond between us was strong, I couldn't do anything about him. My wolf being weak within me was the reason my parents had never treated me specially the way they did my sister.

Unlike me, she had turned into her wolf early. A strong silver Luna kind of wolf that made me almost jealous but me, when it got to my turn I spent the whole day begging my wolf to come out hoping it would listen to me.

When it finally did, it was only a little wolf cub with a weak weary body.

That day had changed everything.

The disappointment on my parents faces still haunted me till now. My father had looked away from me like I disgusted him before giving the order that from that day onward I would do the work of a servant in the house.

"Oh, if it isn't the rejected wolf."

I stiffened immediately at the mocking voice behind me and turned to see Freda walking toward me with a smirk resting on her glossy lips.

Her black hair danced lightly with the wind, the little dark golden strands in it catching against the light beautifully. She looked perfect as always and she knew it too from the confidence in her walk.

She stopped in front of me before folding her arms.

"I actually feel bad for you sometimes," she said with fake pity. "Imagine having Alpha Ares as your mate and still getting rejected."

My fingers slowly curled beside me.

"Freda—"

"No, really," she interrupted with a soft laugh. "The Moon Goddess must've been sleeping when she paired both of you together."

Her gaze slowly traveled down my body before she tilted her head mockingly. "I mean look at you, Blaire."

My chest tightened painfully.

Freda slowly brushed her hand against her waist proudly, showing off her flawless figure without shame.

"Someone like Ares deserves better," she continued. "Someone strong, beautiful and confident." A smirk spread across her face. "Someone like me."

I swallowed hard trying not to react, she stepped closer lowering her voice.

"Even if you stand close to Ares it wouldn't make any difference. He's an Alpha." Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Why would an Alpha want someone as measly as you?"

The words stung badly.

For a moment I felt that familiar weakness trying to settle into my chest again but this time I forced myself to stand up from the wooden chair.

I looked directly at her. "Then why are you trying so hard to take someone who already rejected me?" I asked quietly.

Freda's smile faded slightly.

I continued before she could speak. "If Ares truly wanted you that badly you wouldn't need to keep reminding me about it."

Her expression hardened instantly. For the first time since she walked over, the confidence on her face cracked a little.

I stepped around her slowly. "If you know what's best for you, Freda, stay out of my way."

I had barely taken a few steps when her voice stopped me again.

"You can talk now because nobody else is here," she said sharply. "But once you're in the middle of other wolves you go quiet again."

I stopped walking.

Freda laughed softly behind me. "You're just as shy and weak as your wolf."

The little strength I had gathered shattered instantly. My throat tightened painfully as I lowered my gaze.

But Freda wasn't done. "You know something funny?" she asked casually. "Ares doesn't love you and he never will."

I clenched my fingers tightly trying to ignore her. "If he cared about you at all," she continued slowly, "why would he want to kill your brothers?"

My heart skipped violently and I turned toward her immediately.

Freda stood there with a satisfied smirk resting on her face as if she enjoyed the fear growing inside me.

"What are you talking about?" I whispered.

She shrugged carelessly. "I wasn't supposed to say that anyway."

A cold chill crawled through my body. Freda leaned slightly closer. "And honestly, after tonight the Nightmoons might finally realize they aren't untouchable."

She laughed softly before brushing past me. "Oh and Blaire?" She glanced back with amusement. "Try not to cry too much when it happens."

My chest ached painfully as I stood there frozen. Ares wanted revenge. The words kept replaying inside my head making my fear grow worse.

I quickly shook my head. No. I wasn't going to let anything happen to my brothers. No matter how badly they treated me, they were still my family.

Without wasting another second I hurried back toward the resting lounge. My breathing became uneven as I pushed the door open quickly only to realize they weren't there.

My heart dropped, I turned toward the men standing near the table.

"Where are Noah and Jake?" I asked hurriedly.

One of the men chuckled lightly. "Your brothers?" He leaned back lazily. "They already left to collect the second warbook over dinner with Alpha Ares."

Fear rushed through me instantly. Without wasting another second I turned and ran out of the room.

My legs ached badly as I hurried through the hallway and out of the building. The cold evening wind brushed harshly against my face as I rushed down the path leading toward Ares's mansion which thankfully wasn't far from the arena grounds.

My breathing became heavier the closer I got.

Ares's mansion stood tall ahead glowing faintly under the night sky. Guards stood near the entrance but immediately stepped aside the moment they saw me rushing toward the door.

I pushed it open quickly and hurried inside.

The warmth from the mansion hit me immediately along with the scent of polished wood and expensive candles. A maid standing near the entrance looked startled by my sudden arrival.

"Blaire?" she called softly.

"Where are my brothers?" I asked breathlessly.

The maid blinked before pointing down the hallway. "The dining hall."

I nodded quickly. "Thank you."

I rushed down the hallway without stopping. My footsteps echoed loudly against the marble floor while panic settled deeper into my chest.

The closer I got to the dining hall the stranger the air felt until suddenly a loud grunt echoed from inside making my heart skip violently as I froze near the entrance, fear washing through me instantly.

Blaire's POVMy heart thudded in my chest so loudly that I was scared Ares might hear me. Instead of bursting into the dining hall and likely getting killed, I stopped by the door, leaning closer as I took a peek at what was happening.Ares stood opposite my brothers, who were held back by four strong men with tattoos, dressed in completely black clothes.A low chuckle left his lips, softening his stern composure. I would have relished it if he wasn’t about to kill my brothers. “You think I’m just going to hand over the second war book to you, Nightmoons?” he asked in a mocking tone. “Because you won a measly battle? Let’s see how your father reacts when you two aren’t there to protect his pack.”“You’re crazy, Ares,” Noah groaned, trying to break free from the men holding him. “If you think you’re going to get away with this.”Ares arched a brow, cutting him off. “Of course I’m going to get away with this, just like your father got away with killing my parents.”My eyes widened at hi

Blaire's POV The battle was about to start as I walked in with a bottle of water and a neat towel in my hand before sitting on the front row next to the raging crowd as they screamed and cheered the men on the arena ground. A cold chill ran down my spine when I saw my brothers in the secluded space for the fight surrounded by chain barricades. Five men stood tall against them and they looked like they were about to tear each other apart even before the fight started. Across the other side, Ares sat in a royalty stance with Freda, the girl I caught him cheating with the previous day leaning close to him, her hand resting against his and that sight made the ache in my chest deepen. I looked away from his direction when he caught me staring. The horn was blown and the fight started. I felt so uncomfortable at the start as the five men huddled against my brothers, beating them and throwing them to the floor. A smirk pulled up on Ares's face giving off that he was clearly enjoying it.

  • The Wolfless Omega Rules   Chapter 2

Blaire's POVThe pain rang through my chest like an alarm, dragging back memories of the first time I saw Ares. It hadn't been like every other day in Woodland pack where my father ruled as Alpha. The entire pack had been celebrating after winning the first warbook, and the pack house had been crowded with warriors and elders drinking, laughing, and praising my father. As usual, I had been moving around quietly serving drinks and cleaning up after everyone. No one really noticed me unless they needed something, so after a while I slipped outside for fresh air. The loud voices inside were starting to make my head ache, and I just wanted a moment of peace away from everyone. The night air brushed against my skin as I walked farther from the pack house. The woods were calm except for the sound of leaves rustling beneath my feet. I remember lifting my face toward the moon, enjoying the silence, when suddenly I heard movement deeper in the trees. At first I thought it was one of the guards

Blaire's POVIt was the greatest event of the year, the twenty-first Warriors' Anniversary. Preparations were going on, and I was pulled in between to assist with the setup, food, and to offer help to make sure there wasn't any boredom. The greatest thing about everything was that I was going to meet my mate. The thought and excitement were all over me.I sat across from my brother Noah and some other guys seated around the table while they watched him brag about winning and celebrate without even knowing how the event was going to turn out. I filled their cups with drinks and sat close by while listening to their conversation."I know this might be the toughest Warriors' Anniversary because of the reward, but I'm gonna win with my eyes closed," Noah shouted and exchanged handshakes with the guys beside him. They roared with laughter, and my gaze drifted to Jake, who was nodding, trying his best not to exclude himself from the conversation. I shook my head at Noah's words, but the wor
