LOGINAurora's POV
I was grateful I brought the nicer of my clothes. Though, it was but three outfits, I was still thankful for them. Everyone within the castle walls were all dressed to the nines, showing off their wealth. I french-braided my hair, leaving a few strands out to frame my face.
I chose my white sundress that ruffled around my knees. I picked a pair of matching sandals and headed back downstairs to the dining hall, as instructed. I found my father and Alpha talking to some of the other men and made my way over to them.
"What the fuck is this?", Trent hissed, coming up behind me and tugging on my dress. "I'm trying to fit in", I replied, not looking him in the eyes. "Kind of hard to do when everyone knows you aren't a wolf", he cackled maliciously.
I bit my tongue as I turned my head away to look at the details of the dining hall. Goosebumps spread up my spine at the sensation of being watched. I meekly scanned the room, clashing eyes with a rocky horizon. They flashed a beautiful burnt amber before returning to their original color.
My breath caught in my throat. The man was gorgeous with jet black curly hair, a sharp law-line, and shoulders so broad I would never be able to wrap my arms fully around them.
I felt a jab in my side, causing me to flinch as I turned to face my group. My father stared at me with disdain. "I don't know why we brought you. You never fucking listen. Always in your own little world, just like your mother", he hissed at me.
"My apologies, father. There's a lot happening at once, I'm not used to it", I apologized. "Don't call me that here. It's a dishonor to have a daughter like you", he snapped, getting within an inch of my face. "Yes sir", I gritted out.
"Prince Liam, it's so good to see you again. Man, the last time I saw you, you were yay high", Alpha Terry said, holding his hand up to his waist. My father had backed out of my face before the Alpha finished his greeting.
"You remember my Beta, Lance, and this is my son, Trent", Alpha Terry's voice was abnormally light. I kept my head down. I'm not allowed to look up. I know that. The Prince's aura was strong, exceedingly dominant, but not oppressing. No. Instead, it was like a blanket of serenity, safety.
"And yours?", his voice made my knees weak. I know he was talking to me. He had to be. There was no one else in the group to ask. "That's-", "I wasn't talking to you", Prince Liam cut my father off with a sharp tone.
"Aurora, your highness", I uttered, bowing his way. "Aurora", he repeated, as if he was trying it out on his lips. He placed his hand out to take mine. I hesitated before obliging, knowing it would only shame my pack further if I refused.
As my hand touched his, tingles spread up my arm, causing me to gasp. "It's a pleasure, Aurora", he bowed and touched his lips to the back of my hand. Why did he just do that? My heart hammered in my chest. This felt so intimate, but natural.
My fear lies in the consequences I will face for this interaction. The prince gently released my hand, before turning back to the group as a whole. I could feel the anger rolling off of my three traveling companions.
"Welcome to my home. I hope you enjoy your stay", Prince Liam said smoothly, before turning on his heel and walking away. Alpha Terry and my father stood side by side in utter shock and simmering in anger.
Aurora's POVThe growl that ripped through Liam's chest was steady, angry, hostile. I noticed the unease in the crowd. They weren't sure what was happening. They were even scared. I could feel it. Terry eased his way onto the disturbed earth of the arena. As he approached Trent's limp body, he eyed my angry Alpha. Liam's growl grew louder with every step that Terry took towards them. I swallowed the lump in my throat. I understand his anger. I too am angry. It wouldn't have been stopped if the tables were turned. He took the coward's way out. I slipped onto the field and walked up behind Liam. As Terry crouched down to grab Trent, Liam roared. The dirt swirled with the force behind his voice. My heart pounded in my chest, as I approached him. He won't hurt me. I know that. I am the only chance he has to not disobey his father. "Liam", I whispered, placing my hand on his back, and circling his side. His body twitched under my touch. When Liam looked at me, it was Zeus who stared bac
Liam's POVAnger pulsed through me. I let it. On purpose. I need fuel to push me through this. Though, I don't believe that Trent is as strong as he believes himself to be. We circle one another, still in human form. Trent barred his teeth at me. I smirked, pissing him off further. I am going to take pleasure in this. He charged me. I dodged by stepping to the side. He tumbled over his feet and hit the ground. Trent growled, as he spit dirt from his mouth. This time when he charged me, I waited and calculated. When he got within striking distance, I did just that. A sickening crack reverberated through arena, bringing a roar to the crowd. I could feel Aurora's pride, and her eyes locked on me. I feel every thought passing through her head. I grabbed Trent by the hair and slammed his head into my knee. Another loud crack met my ears, bringing me a sickening joy. I wanted to kill him during the trials, but he took that away from me, by forcing my mate to be in them instead. I get to
Aurora's POVMy anxiety is real, as I watch spectators make their way into the stadium. Dirt splayed dry, under my feet, as I looked at the different faces making their appearance. Trent was on the other side of the arena, getting a pep talk by his father. His eyes were locked on me, hate and anger brewing in his eyes. "It's going to be okay, baby", Liam's voice broke through my trance. I looked up at him, visibly shaking with fear. "I'm scared", I admitted in a whisper. Liam smiled sadly as he cupped my face and drew his body closer to mine. "I know. That's okay, little one. Can I share a my secret weapon with you?", he questioned. My eyebrows creased together, as I grabbed his wrists. "I'm not scared because I know that we will both live through this. The moon goddess has big plans for us. Plans that can't be executed if I am dead. My trust is in the goddess, and in you", he uttered. His answer did in fact settle my anxiousness. He is right. The moon goddess knew all the possible
Liam's POVThe sun peeked through the curtains, splaying across my face. Challenge day. I did what any Alpha would do for honor, and accepted his challenge. I peered over at my beautiful mate. She laid asleep on my chest. I sighed with content, as I watched my angel sleep a little while longer. I knew for a fact that I couldn't die today. Just the thought of Trent getting to claim her as his is enough to make me want to come back from the dead. I reached up and ghosted a touch from her face. She wrinkled her nose and stirred slightly. My fingers were feathery as I traced her shoulder, and down her arm, that lay propped on my chest. She groaned as she moved around. "Good morning, princess", I whispered, running my fingers through her hair. Her eyes fluttered open. A soft smile spread across her lips. "Good morning, Alpha", she yawned. Zeus purred, sending goosebumps up Aurora's arm. She sat up frantically, her eyes growing wide with panic. "What, baby?", I questioned, sitting up wit
Aurora's POV"There's no need for all that, now", Terry grinned with no emotion. Liam's jaw ticked with anger and restraint. "I do not want to see any of you harrassing my mate again. Is that understood?", he growled. "Of course, your highness", Terry mock-bowed. Terry grabbed my father and pulled him away. Liam turned to look at me. "Are you okay?", he asked. I nodded my head. Not ready to form words yet. Liam scopped me up bridal style and carried me the rest of the way to his room. I didn't protest. Instead, I wrapped my arms around his neck and rested my head on his shoulder. I was too tired to argue about being able to walk. My legs were killing me anyway. "We need to do some stretches when we get to my room", he uttered, as he climbed the stairs. I groaned. I thought I had done enough already, but I suppose not. Liam chuckled, catching my attention. "What's funny?", I asked with a frown. "You, princess", he laughed. My frown deepend. "You forget that I can feel your emotions",
Liam's POVIt wasn't an easy task to keep Aurora focused as we finished our daily training. She kept reverting back to the challenge with Trent. "But, Liam", she started, as I placed a plate of spagetti infront of her with a side of garlic bread. "Don't 'but', me, princess. Eat your dinner. We missed lunch", I told her with a stern look. "I'm worried", she pouted. I grasped her face in my grip and made her look up at me. "You must eat. You don't need to be worried. I've got this", I smirked at her. She frowned at me, peering up at me through her eyelashes with her doe eyes. "You promise?", she whispered. I connected my lips to hers in a gentle kiss. "I promise, little one", I assured her. I know that she is tired after today. She has to be hungry. If she would actually eat her food, we could go upstairs and take a hot bath after a good stretch and she won't hurt as bad tomorrow. I watched her pick at her food, pushing it around her plate. I reached over her with my fork and scooped
