Only to be protected by her 'unknown' fated mated, Liam the future Alpha King. Liam's POV "I want to touch you", Zeus slipped passed me. "And I want to play a game", she taunted, stepping out of my grasp. Zeus whimpered at the loss of contact, giving me a distraction to wrangle full control back from him. "I like a good game", I smirked, raising an eyebrow at her. She stepped back into my reach. She placed both of her hands on my chest, sending sparks into my heart. I placed my hands on her waist, pulling her closer. Her breasts were pushed against my abdomen. "You can touch me, if you can catch me", her voice was low, nervous. "You want to play a game of cat and mouse? With the fastest wolf in the country?", I smirked. "You are drunk, princess. That wouldn't be a fair game. But that's the point, isn't it?", excitement bubbled in my chest, as the pieces began to fall into place.

"What is taking you so long to get my bags? We still have a two hour trip to the Kingdom. Chop, chop. I don't want to be late", Trent clapped his hands at me, rather than help me load his bags.
Trent is the future Alpha of Silver Ridge pack. Today starts the beginning of an extremely special ceremony, for all the soon-to-be Alphas in the country.
The Worthy Wars.
A long series of tests orchestrated to test your speed, agility, stealth, strength, even your mental abilities such as compassion, instinct, stragety planning and executions. All designed to determine if the 'future' Alpha is worthy enough to take the Alpha title.
So, here we are. Trent and his father, Terry, the current Alpha. Then my father, who is the Beta, and me, a low-quality witch. My parents were an unusual pairing, him being a Beta, and my mother an Earth witch. My mother died when I was young, leaving me with a father who was absolutely sure he would be passing his legacy down to me.
He was training me since I could walk to fight. I hid the fact that I could tell I had witch tendicies. Like hearing the trees and animals whisper amoung one another. You can imagine how disappointed he was when I turned 16 and never shifted.
That was four years ago. He changed that day, turning from a mourning, yet optimistic man to a cold-hearted hateful monster.
"Let's go!", Alpha Terry commanded. I jumped in my skin before sliding into the back seat with Trent. The thing about Trent? He absolutely hates me, however, he has not found a mate yet. Because he is 22, and 'soon-to-be' Alpha, he has to have a mate to take the Alpha title.
I'm the back-up plan. My father thought it would be a great idea since I can't offer my servies as a Beta for the pack.
Alpha Terry and my father spoke amoung each other about what The Worthy Wars was like when Alpha Terry went through them. Trent chimed in every once in a while to ask a question or make a comment.
I knew not to talk unless spoken to. So I just remained quiet in my own little world. At some point, I fell asleep.
"The bags to our rooms", I heard my father's voice. My eyes shot open, knowing he was talking to me. My jaw fell open. I've never personally been to the kingdom before, let alone the castle itself. With 14th century gray brick, the castle is at least 200 feet in height and a mile in length.
Fifteen foot windows littered the front, counting ten high. Fruit trees, wild flowers, jazmine, and gardenas were planted amongst the front yard.
"Dammit, Aurora. Do you ever fucking listen?", my father growled. "I'm sorry, father?", I asked bravely. "Grab our bags and get them to our rooms", his tone was low, seeping with anger and impatience. "Yes sir", I bowed , stacking my shoulders with bags.
"Everyone's rooms are in alphabetical order based on pack name", a greeter at the enterance announced to the crowd of people piling in the doors. Even though only four people per pack are allowed to attend, hundreds of people pour in the gates.
Four people per pack, fifty packs, and the the kingdom spectators who come to get a glimpse at the furture Alphas. The heavy dominant auras that were competing around me brought a sense of oppression, making it hard for me to breathe.
I followed the signs that led me to the 'S' floor. Each oak door had a plaque, labeled with the attendee's name. Once finding everyone's room and putting their bags inside, I decided to change.
Aurora's POVSweet relief rushed my core. The constant ache that I have been experiencing for hours, finally subsided. His cool lips sizzled when they touced my fever skin. My mind slipped away. Forgetting that an entire crowd of people surrounded us. "I challenge you, Alpha Prince Liam of the Shadow Moon Pack, for Aurora as a mate", Trent sounded desperate. The crowd gasped at his announcement. "Tomorrow morning, first light", he demanded. Liam stood taller, a beautiful smirk etched into his features. "Challenge accepted. I hope you have your affairs in order", Liam grinned. "Come, princess. You have training to finish", Liam said, turning and leading me away from the flock of wolves who gathered for the tea. I didn't want him to fight Trent. Not that I was worried about him winning. But, I genuinely don't want him to get hurt. I need him. I understand that he has no choice if someone openly challenges him. But, why would Trent do that, if he knows that I am not his mate, and he wo
Liam's POVA sick, twisted pride filled my chest at the complete and utter shock on Trent's face. "You heard me, little rat. My MATE", I growled, smirking at the horror that crossed his face. He knew now that he had fucked up. Aurora touched my back, a slight shake in her hands. "That's impossible. She's Trent's mate", Terry, his father spoke up. I growled at the pathetic attempt. However, his statement drew a gasp from the gathering crowd. "I am the Prince of this Kingdom. It's next heir. You will not stand before me and call me a liar. And you will not do so by lying yourself", my anger was beginning to get the best of me. Something that did not go unnoticed by my father. I never lose my temper. I always stay composed. I was trained for this. Every single day since I could walk, I have been trained for this. Only one thing could bring me so far out of character. There is no mistaken that she is my mate. "That's enough", my father spoke, holding his hand up. He turned his attentio
Third Person's POVTrent stood on the sidelines, seething with anger. He hated how much Aurora laughed or smiled when she was around the Prince. His hands flexed open and closed by his sides, as he watched Aurora land a bullseye with each shot she made as she walked the line of targets. The third bullseye target now has two split arrows and a third perfect shot. Liam could feel Trent's presence and anger off in the distance. He could feel his eyes on them. When Aurora completed the task, he pulled her to his chest and captured her lips roughly. He felt as Trent's anger escalated, bringing him an immense amount of pride. Trent wanted Liam dead, out of the picture. He didn't truly care about the disgrace of the witch. But, it drove him mad that the Prince wanted her. If he could successfully make Aurora his, then the Prince would envy something of his. He must figured out a way to doupe her back into his arms. Aurora melted into Liam's arms. She could feel the bond pulling them toget
Liam's POVMy chest constricted at the idea of not being able to mark my mate. Curse the moon goddess. I know she is only giving her a choice. But, fucking hell, help a brother out. Aurora peered up at me curiously with her sun filled eyes. The light glinting off of them as a hint of a smirk crossed her lips. She put an arm behind her back, swaying slightly as she took a step toward me. She toyed with my shirt. A beautiful smile on her face. Her cheeks reddend with a blush before she spoke. "Who said I didn't want you to mark me?", she asked, playfulness in her voice. My hands shot out and grabbed her by the waist to pull her to me, smashing our chests together. "Do you want me to mark you?", I questioned, hopefullness lacing my voice. She bit her lower lip, and cocked her head to the side. "Let's go practice", she chirped, pulling herself from my grasp and skipping away from me. What just happened? Wait a minute. It only took a few wide strides before I had her in my grip once agai
