Chapter 3: The Fawn

last update Last Updated: 2025-11-19 07:21:35

Aurora's POV

"We need to talk", Trent growled, grabbing me by the arm. I tried not to show how much pain I was actually in. My fingers were going numb from his grip, as he escorted me from the dining hall. He drug me down the hall. "Please let me go", I finally whimpered.

He rounded a corner and slammed me against the wall. He placed both of his hands on either side of my head, caging me in. "Care to explain what that was about?", he bit out, pushing his nose in the side of my face.

"I have no idea. Why don't you ask him?", I uttered daringly. One of his hands left the wall to wrap around my throat. "Because I am asking you, bitch", he squeezed my throat tighter cutting off my air flow. "Did you put a fucking spell on him?", his voice grew louder.

I shook my head vigorously. "I can't do spells", I pleaded, my voice broken. A large hand reached around the corner and grabbed Trent's wrist. "Let her go", Prince Liam came into view. "No offense, your highness. But, this is a private matter", Trent growled.

"Not anymore. You're in my home. Let her go", the Prince growled, squeezing Trent's wrist until he yielded. When his fingers released, the air burned my neck and lungs as I gasped and coughed. Trent gritted his teeth as he rubbed his wrist.

"I'll deal with you later", Trent hissed at me, before walking away.

"Are you okay?", his voice was gentle, as he reached up to touch my throat. I flinched away from him, holding my hand up to stop his. He paused his movements. I mustered up the courage to look him in the eyes. Rocky gray mountains.

"You're going to get me killed", I breathed, taking a step away. I walked past him, going to the opposite direction of Trent. I wanted to get outside. Go for a walk. I wasn't ready to face the mass amount of people in the dining hall.

I found sunlight peeking through a door, giving me a sense of relief. The sun beat down on my face, calming me down. I found my way to the edge of the tree line behind the castle.

Liam's POV

I watched her from a distance as she walked the tree line. She touched each tree that she passed, murmuring to herself. I'm too far away to hear what she whispers.

'She's ours', Zeus, my wolf, growled. 'Yes. But we want her to realize that on her own', I reminded him. She's in a situation that I need to understand before crashing into it.

I'm stunned in place when I see a fawn emerge from the woods. It slowly approaches Aurora, who gently drops to her knees and starts talking to it. "Oh, hey baby. It's okay. Are you lost?", she asked in a gentle tone that wrapped around my soul.

It got close enough for her to pet. She gently ran her fingers over it's snout and head. "Where's your mommy?", she whispered softly, as she petted the spotted fawn.

"Aurora!", Trent Venny's voice pierced my ears, and destroyed my mate's moment. "Run, little one. Run. He will kill you if he sees you. Run. Go find mommy", Aurora's panicked voice had my hackles risen. "What the fuck are you doing?", he yelled at her. "Nothing", Aurora's voice was shaky.

Trent approached, catching sight of the fawn in the trees. He transformed to his wolf on sight and started running into the woods towards it. Aurora jumped in the way. "No! Trent! It's just a baby!", she cried out. He jumped over her to continue his chase. She dropped to her knees sobbing into her hands.

"It's just a baby", her voice was tiny.

"Let's go practice", she chirped, pulling herself from my grasp and skipping away from me. What just happened? Wait a minute. It only took a few wide strides before I had her in my grip once agai

"Much better."Liam grinned, "Good" "I met the moon goddess", I gasped. A sparkle shined in his eyes as he watched my excitement. "I know", he flashed a toothy grin. I sat up and connected my lips to his, surprising him. His fingers entangled in my hair, gripping it tightly. I ran my hand up his shoulder and down his back, pulling him closer to me. A subtle growl vibrated our chests. A growl of pleasure, content, happiness. Our chests rose and fell heavily, when our lips parted. "What was that for?", he asked softly. "Because you deserved it", I whispered, with a hint of a smile. "How?", he chuckled in disbelief. "By keeping me safe while

Aurora's POVLiam's face mirrored mine. Our eyes growing wide from the clear demand. His eyes locked on mine. He swallowed hard before nodding and dropping his arm with a sigh. I approached the spec with caution and now fear. My soul broke when my brain registered what I was staring at. I dropped to my knees as a sob tore through my chest. Liam wrapped his arms around my shoulders, offering me his silent support. I reached my hand out and placed it on the gashed, stiff side of the fawn. My breath was stolen from me, images of Trent chasing and killing the baby, before I collapsed. 'Aurora, wake up. We need to talk', the voice was sweet, smooth, feminine. 'Awake, my child.'My eyes shot open. Liam sat above me, an expression of concern on his face as he held me closely. But something didn't feel right. As I sat up, Liam didn't move, causing me to subsequently pass through him. I bolted to my feet, panic rising in my throat. 'Am I dead?', I asked, touching my body. A serene chuckle me

"Get changed and we will go train", he instructed, pointing to the workout clothes on his bed when we walked in his room. I sat my bag on the floor and turned to face him.He cocked his head to the side as he evaulated me. "Are you angry with me?", I asked. His features softened as he cupped my cheeks. "Not at all, little one", he whispered. "Then, what's wrong?", I questioned. He sighed, as he stroked my cheek with his thumb. "I'm angry that your father hasn't been taking care of you like he's supposed to. Wolf or not", he answered through gritted teeth. The pain in my chest eased knowing he wasn't angry with me. "I apologize for that spilling over on you. I was not trying to take it out on you", his words were gentle and sincere. "Please forgive me", he muttered. I nodded my head with a light smile. "I do". He kissed my forehead, his lips lingering on my skin. "Please get read

Liam's POVAurora took a second to collect herself before turning her face toward mine. "It's not the act that makes me nervous. Talking about it makes me... uncomfortable", she muttered. I smirked, as I looked over her sweet innocent face. "You can put my dick in your mouth, but you can't say that you were riding it?", I chuckled. Her eyes grew wide, as her cheeks flushed red. She gasped, attempting to free herself from my hold, only succeeding in turning to face me. I laughed in amusement, as I backed her against the bookshelf. "You are mine. You know that right?", I asked, running my thumb along her jaw. Her lips parted and ehr breathing shifted. "Yes", it was but a whisper on her tongue. "Say it, princess", my voice was low and guttural. "I'm yours", she uttered softly. Zeus purred in my mind, full of happiness that she recognizes us as her mate. I captured her lips in a gentle kiss. I was savoring her taste like ine wine. Her lips were as soft as egyptian cotton. I rested my f

Liam's POV"Are you studying?", I asked, setting the books down and startling her by accident. "Uh", she froze momentarily. "No, I wasn't", she answered honestly. "Good girl. Thank you for being honest. What's occupying your thoughts instead?", I asked, combing her hair out of her face. "My anxiety is peaked, right now. I've never stood against my pack before. So, I guess I'm pondering the unknown at the moment. A bit worried I won't be able to defend myself if Trent attempts to solidify this bond", she sighed, rubbing her chest in discomfort. "We are going to fix this, little one", I whispered, stroking the back of her neck. "I'm right here, now. You're safe, princess. Study", I commanded tenderly. She nodded, looking down at the book in front of her. I hate that she feels this way. I wish I could take the feeling away quicker. But, I remember reading something about this before. There was a process to reverse it. A process that I spent hours searching for. I answered any questio
