Michael's pov.

It had been two weeks since I growled at Alexis and scared her off. I don't even know why I did it.

I get that am in love with her but that was beyond me.

My wolf had suddenly become enraged when I saw her on top of Jake with that cute smile playing on her lips. Baron, my wolf almost took control entirely. Am glad that Jake helped me snap back to reality.

I decided to take a break from school to avoid anything like that from happening a second time.

Though my thoughts kept drifting back to her.

I decided to keep myself busy with pack duties. I'd gotten a larger number of recruits than I'd expected and they were also good at fighting.

We'd managed to take down three groups of rouges that had been causing chaos at our pack boarders. It brought a sense of security among the people and other rouges that were once bold to attack us kept their distance.

I'd also been spending much time at the boarders as I kept feeling uneasy for no reason. I couldn't sleep and it felt like I was incomplete, like a missing piece of me was out there waiting to be found.

Jake found me in the main kitchen putting away the plates that the kids had left in the sink. I sometimes like to help with chores around the pack house, it makes me feel useful in some way.

"Hey man. I was heading to the diner and wandered if you'd like to come with me- enjoy a little bit maybe."

He asked but he wasn't going to take no for an answer.

When we reached there I spotted a familiar figure sitted by the window. Alexis. She looked at beautiful as ever. She seemed relaxed and carefree unlike how she mostly was at school.

"Maybe try talking to her for once. A simple hi won't kill you."

Jake said as he put a hand on my shoulder.

We walked to the entrance and I stopped in my tracks when I had her say she wanted to leave this place and the worst part came when she said she had no intention of being with a mate even if she found him.

I knew it was close to impossible for us to be mates but I secretly hoped and prayed and the probability wasn't zero. Even at a one percent chance I still clinged to it.

She must have sensed us because she turned and looked shocked to see us, and then she stood up and walked away.

'She must really dislike me.'

I thought to myself.

Jake and I went to the back sit for a bit of privacy.

He gave me a sympathetic look and I just shrugged. It's not like we could talk about it here. Werewolf hearing is very sharp and can catch on to even faint noises. I was not going to risk anyone knowing how I felt. Especially her.

I was taken a back when Alexis approached us. She was now in a blue T-shirt that had the diner's logo.

"I didn't know you worked hear."

Jake said to her with a cocky grin.

"Well now you know."

She said a bit awkward.

It was obvious that she wasn't comfortable.

As she wrote down Jakes order I couldn't help but stare at her. She was even more beautiful from up close.

Her burgundy hair, the cute little freckles on her chicks, her plump lips.... what it would feel like kiss them and run my fingers in her beautiful hair, to embrace her and never let go.

"Ouch!"Jake had kicked my leg from under the table. I turned and glared at him but he looked irritated. When I looked back at Alexis she was red as a tomato. She obviously realized that I was staring at her.

Great. Now she thinks am a creep.

"Um I'll take a burger with fries and a glass of water."

She quickly scribbled it down on her note pad and hurriedly walked away.

Jake looked like he wanted to laugh but held it in.

Why the hell did I stare at her like I had no self control. If it was from a distance I wouldn't have minded since I'd done it so many times that I lost count. But up close where she obviously noticed.

Am screwed.

A few minutes later our orders were brought but not by Alexis to my disappointment.

"Where's the girl who took our order?" I could not help but ask.

The girl looked at me seductively and played with her hair as she spoke.

"It was her turn to be on kitchen duty so I'll be the one handling you boys...... if there's anything ya need just let me know."

We ate in silence as my mind wondered nowhere and everywhere at once. Tomorrow was my birthday, the day I'll turn eighteen and most likely find my mate. If it turns out to be anyone but her I'll have to let her go and move on. Maybe that's what is best.

  • The alpha's mate    CHAPTER 13

Alexis's pov I ended up in the infirmary more times than I would have liked to admit. Dorian was iron clad. Throughout these past weeks I'd only managed to throw a few punches and kicks here and there, though some of them seemed to cause him some sort of pain, which was still a win. But I had also noticed how much stronger I had gotten. My body moved faster and my attacks were more spot on. If I continued like this I'd be unstoppable. We also got to shift and learn to fight in our wolf form. At first I was uncomfortable, thinking that they too would look at my wolf form with disgust and tell me she's ugly, but it was far from it. They were actually amazed and shocked at how beautiful my wolf was, which was a contradiction to how Natasha had viewed her. I also noticed that I was noticeably bigger than all the wolves around me, even Dorian, all but Mason who was just as big as me. But his form was never a surprise since he was an alpha and they basically grew bigger and larger

  • The alpha's mate    CHAPTER 12

Michael's pov I had stayed curled up on the floor for a while before realizing I had made a mistake. Why did I let her go? Why didn't I just hold on to her and stop her from leaving. We belong together. The moon goddess gave me the one thing I craved for and I let it go just like that- I let her go. I got up in a daze and drove back to the pack house. Instead of going straight to my room I went to the fifth floor, at the very end of the hall and knocked on the door. A middle aged woman opened the door. She had the same blue eyes and dark hair as mine. These past months had made her age over a decade, the youthful joy in her soul now an empty shell. "Mom." I said as I hugged her. She let me inside the room that was dark and smelt heavily of herbs and blood, despite looking completely clean. "Any improvement?" I asked even though I already knew the answer. "Not yet." She said it like she was certain things would get better eventually - like he would wake up an

Alexis's pov. The day went by so fast that I didn't even realize it was already getting dark. Rebecca sat next to me at a bench near the park where we were. Loads of shopping bags were laid next to our feet, most of them belonging to me.I don't know if it was okay for us to spend this much money just because Mason gave us his card to use. I actually wanted to buy only a few clothes but Rebecca insisted that we buy as many as possible since, and I'm quoting her words. "A girl can never have too many clothes." We'd literary gone to another town just to check out what she called new trendy stock. I had never once put too much thought in what I wore or what was trending in that particular moment but I guess there is a first time for everything. Rebecca was typing frantically on her phone like a maniac, clearly upset with whoever she was texting. Not long after a car pulled up in front of us and I recognized the boy behind the wheels since I had seen him at the pack house ear

Gideon's pov. I sat on my throne and watched as my men tore through Cyrus, one of the elders of the former white wolf pack. It wasn't easy finding the old bastard. He'd been leaving us trails all over different places. We even flew out to different states only to hit a dead end. But we finally found him, hiding within Moon crest pack. He was spying on some girl named Alexis. I figured she must be someone of importance and so I made a deal with those filthy rogues to spy on her and find out if she is something special in any way- in return I'd offer them supplies for their survival, to which they gladly agreed. They spent eight months trailing her only to find out she's a nobody cast away by her own pack. Last I heard she ran away and even her own mate did not care to stop her. How pathetic. But I had no time to ponder over such useless things. What I really wanted was to get my hands on the lunar essence, a power so strong it would make me a god among every werewolf. No one would

  • The alpha's mate    CHAPTER 9

Alexis's pov I had walked for nearly three hours, the weight of my duffle bag making my shoulders hurt. I didn't know how far I was or which direction I was heading to but anywhere was better than my old pack. I wasn't relieved to go as my heart kept aching from not being close to my mate. But it had to be done. Natasha was probably right, maybe those rogues would stop attacking once they found out I've left. But why were they even spying on me for? Do they know something about me that I don't? I was so lost in thought that I did not even notice when a car pulled up infront of me. "You're a far way from home miss." said a familiar voice. When I looked to the driver's seat I was met with a pair of brown eyes. It was the boy from the diner who tipped me twice. "What happened, got kicked out of the pack?" He was rubbing salt on my fresh wound by saying that. He must have noticed the look on my face that indicated I was about to cry so he asked me. "Do you know where you're go

  • The alpha's mate    CHAPTER 8

Michael's pov Alexis's friend, the boy who is always following her around, called out to her as she ran out of the classroom. He was about to chase after her when I growled at him. He stopped dead in his tracks but still gave me a fierce look. "She's my friend. I need to check if she's okay." I hated the fact that she was closer to another male than me. Without bothering I stared right back at him as I said. "She's my mate." I didn't want people finding out like this but I was too desperate to form some sort of connection with her and this was all I had. I could hear some of the students whispering amongst themselves but I didn't care what they had to say. I marched out and started to look for Alexis. It wasn't hard to find her since my wolf knew her scent. I found her at the roof top still trying to calm herself down. She was startled when she saw me. It was obvious that I was the last person that she wanted to see right now. "Can we just talk." My voice sounded
