I was kept in isolation at the camp until we returned to Supreme Alpha Viktor Alistair’s court. The march was long, but the differences between my old captor and the Supreme were soon clear. Strong, well-trained wolves; a structure unlike anything I’d seen; and the raw power that rolled off the Supreme Alpha in waves.

“Keep moving, wolf,” one of the escorts growled, shoving me.

When we reached the human trail, my eyes widened at the sight of a small city. Stone walls ringed it; wolves in dark uniforms patrolled and inspected everyone entering. All bowed as the Supreme passed. Families emerged from beautiful homes to watch the procession.

To my eyes, everything was alien. The buildings weren’t forest dens; the main road was paved with something black. At the heart of the pack stood no stone castle, but a towering, mirrored structure.

Low, mocking laughter followed us. I knew it was for me—filthy, dragged in silver chains, dressed in rags while the she-wolves here wore fine clothes.

The Supreme’s presence hit first. Instinctively, I lowered my head and waited. Last night, I’d only seen his icy blue eyes. Curiosity and impulse won; I looked up.

Viktor Alistair was enormous—nearly two meters tall. Black hair streaked with silver showed he was at the peak of his power. Scars and old battles marked every inch of exposed skin. He crossed thick arms over his chest; on one finger gleamed a ring that extended into a long silver claw.

“So that’s what that bastard was hiding so carefully.” The claw’s cold touch burned my chin—pure silver. “Such a jewel buried in filth.” I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for my throat to be slit. Nothing happened.

“What shall we do with this wolf, my alpha?” a soldier asked.

No answer—until a soft, melodic voice rang out.

“My alpha. The goddess has answered my prayers.”

I glanced sideways. A stunning she-wolf approached: long golden hair, flawless skin, a healthy body draped in luxurious clothes and jewels.

“My Luna,” Viktor replied, voice flat.

“I thought… I thought you’d be pleased to have me greet you, my alpha,” she stammered, stepping back.

“Fool.” Suddenly his gaze crushed me. “Clean her and bring her to my chambers.”

“My alpha?!” the Luna cried in disbelief, but silence fell instantly. The slap cracked loudly; her small body hit the ground inches from me.

“You dare question my orders?” he snarled.

I bit my lip, terrified his rage would turn on me. The Luna lay motionless, barely breathing, a single tear rolling down her cheek. Indifferent, the Supreme strode past her toward the mirrored building. Other she-wolves rushed to carry their Luna after him.

“Beta.” One wolf called the huge, scarred, bald man who’d captured me. “What do we do?”

The Beta glared at me with disgust and snarled. “Do exactly as the Supreme commanded. I’ll speak with him.” He left, following the she-wolves.

“Come on, wolf,” a soldier said, dragging me away.

Again, I was bathed and dressed—this time in strange, short, sheer black garments. The chains on my wrists and ankles were removed, but the one around my neck remained.

Walking down a dark corridor, voices drifted from a room. The door flew open; the Beta stormed out, fury blazing at me.

“Unworthy,” he spat through clenched teeth.

“Ignore him. Come in.” Viktor’s order. I was shoved inside; the door locked behind me.

I scanned for escape routes.

“A little thin, but still very beautiful,” he said, approaching. I curled in on myself, fighting his aura. He smiled. “Relax. I’ll be gentle.”

“I don’t want your gentleness,” I hissed.

The Supreme threw his head back and laughed.

“This will be more fun than I thought.” He lunged, seizing my wrist and raising my arm.

“You have a mate!” I shouted, grasping at the bond he should share with his Luna.

“That old, useless wolf serves me no purpose anymore.” He gripped my face hard, forcing me to make eye contact. “But you have…”

His words died. We both froze as revelation struck. A whisper, the goddess’s breath in my ears:

Fate.

Shade howled inside me; my heart raced uncontrollably. Viktor released me as if I had been electrocuted.

“What kind of sick joke is this?!” he roared, grabbing my hair and dragging me from the room.

“Let me go!” I screamed, and horrified stares followed us. He hauled me outside, flung me into the center of a forming circle.

“State your name, wolf,” he commanded.

I bit my lip, holding firm.

“I ordered you to speak your name.” His authority crushed me; Shade whimpered in agony.

“Lyra. My name is Lyra Cynthion.”

The Supreme smiled wickedly.

“I, Viktor Alistair, Supreme Alpha, reject you, Lyra Cynthion, slave, as my fated mate.”

I woke up renewed. The shining sun seemed like an invitation to go out, stretch my legs, and let Shade run free through the forest, but I had barely placed my feet on the floor when the door opened.“Sorry, miss, but you need to change quickly.” Kira entered, carrying a dress, shoes, and various other things. I rubbed my eyes, trying to understand what was happening.“What’s all this so early? Where’s Alpha Valerius?”“An emissary from Viktor has arrived at the pack. The alpha is with him, but you need to be there too.” Kira pushed me toward the bathroom, but I dug my heels into the floor.“What do you mean I need to be there? If it’s an emissary from Viktor, he knows what I look like—he’ll recognize me the moment I appear.”“No, he won’t. You’re no longer a slave, miss. Remember, you are the future Luna of Alpha Valerius, and even if that wolf suspects something, he would never say it openly.”Even though I was freaking out, I d

The atmosphere in the room lightened, but Kira was still trembling on the floor, breathing with some difficulty. I released my nails from the chair, trying to hide my own reactions. Kael approached, handing a towel to Dean.“There was no need to kill him.” Kael sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. Dean returned the towel with disinterest.“Viktor did not need to send him either. That dog knew exactly what would happen—he just wanted confirmation.”“What are you talking about?” Dean turned, walking toward me with a crooked smile. His face still had a few drops of blood.Without thinking, my body reacted by extending my hand and wiping away the mess. Dean’s eyes flashed with surprise—even I surprised myself and quickly pulled my hand back, averting my gaze from his.“Alpha?” Kael called, but Dean no longer seemed interested in the conversation.“Let’s focus on the original plan. Send the messenger’s body back to Viktor with a resp

I crossed my arms, struggling to contain the anger bubbling inside me. He had completely ignored me just a few hours earlier, and now he showed up as if nothing had happened. Kira bowed, lowering her eyes to the floor.“Which alpha has free time to teach dance steps?” I questioned, already returning to the chair where I had been sitting. I could feel his overwhelming presence expanding; Vulcano called to Shade with possessive desire, but I wouldn’t give him the pleasure of destabilizing me. “Kira is already doing an excellent job. You can go do your things.” I gestured with my hand as if shooing away an annoying insect.Dean’s hand wrapped around my fingers, and he pulled me hard. His other hand slid to the small of my back, making me catch my breath. Soft music began to play, and Dean spun me, his feet guiding mine with smooth, fluid movements. I won’t lie—I was surprised by how easily he moved and led me across the empty hall.“You don’t dance as badly a

The silence was oppressive. Dean wasn’t alone—the old wolf was also in the hall, along with a few others. They all looked at me with a mix of curiosity and admiration, but Dean had something more in his gaze that I couldn’t quite identify at that moment.I approached, delicately holding the dress and lowering myself to my knees before the alpha, my right hand resting lightly on my lap with fingertips touching, while a soft smile curved my lips and I lowered my eyes.“I greet Alpha Dean Valerius,” I said in a low, restrained voice, remembering the she-wolves who always hovered around alphas back when I was a slave. The room remained submerged in silence, and I was already beginning to feel uncomfortable with it. I lifted my eyes and saw, in Dean’s brilliant blue ones, a battle raging inside him.“Is this the same wolf who arrived yesterday?” the old wolf asked in a playful tone. Soon everyone began commenting, but Dean remained in complete silence.

My back arched, the sensation of being completely filled—as if I were being torn in half—was painful and pleasurable at the same time. Dean hovered over me, growling with every thrust, his hands braced on the ground beside my head. I cupped his face, pulling him to me and kissing him.I was about to come—I could feel it. My core tightened, my thighs squeezing Dean’s hips, my heart racing, breath caught as fire erupted inside me. Instinctively, I bit his lip, tasting the metallic tang on my tongue. Shade shared the ecstasy with me, and I felt the strong, dominating presence of Vulcano wrapping around me along with Dean.“Fuck, Lyra. You’re squeezing and sucking my cock so hard.” Dean grunted, rising and increasing the rhythm of his thrusts before pulling out and turning away. The hairs on his arm stood on end, muscles tense, veins bulging in his neck and forearms. I wasn’t naïve—I knew that until I was officially Dean’s Luna, we couldn’t risk me getting pre

It was decided: I would go to this grand event, but Dean and Kael would be there too. I would be Dean’s official companion, and he would introduce me as his mate, but first, I would have a few minutes to do a quick sweep and mingle among Viktor’s most noble guests.“I need one hour,” I said to Dean, the old wolf, and Kael, who had arrived a few minutes later.“Do you really think I’m going to let you wander among a pack of vultures for an hour?” Dean questioned.“Do you think you’re the only alpha invited to this horror ball?” Kael coughed, holding back a laugh, while the old wolf didn’t even try to hide his amusement. “As soon as everyone finds out I’ll be your Luna, they’ll see me as a threat and keep their distance.”“There won’t be anyone to protect you if that dog recognizes you.” I swallowed hard, knowing Dean was right. There was no guarantee Viktor wouldn’t recognize me, even if I changed my appearance and scent. He had been chose
