“Save me abiagan…”
Ring!! ring!!
The sound of alarm echoed throughout a small rundown cabin.
“Shit”
Jamie was jerked awake by the alarm that wouldn't stop ringing. It was clear that he was irritated and angry. But taking a glance at the clock, he widened his eyes like saucers.
“8.30am Fuck me I am late for school”
Jamie was a boy of 18 years, and attended the only college in town. Imo college.
He rushed through his bath like his life depended on it, and within minutes he was trudging through the cracked grounds of the pack, running like his life depended on it deeper Into the pack. Instead of going straight to school.
It was in this situation that he desperately wished he had awakened his wolf. It would have been faster and much easier for him But no.
He was the pack trash.
The disappointment that was only alive because of his father's achievement to the werewolf community.
Yes his father was a beta for the greencreek pack. And not just any beta, he was a great and famous scientist who had awakened his wolf at the age of 14, and had an affinity for metals.
Greencreek pack, was One of the strongest packs after the invasion 3 years ago. Jamie stood at a small hill, overlooking the dome-like structure that was the facility. It stretched for miles unending.
What used to be a sacred green lush environment, moon-kissed and rich with ancestral memory, was now overrun by the metallic scent of science and something colder. Something alien, that always gives him goosebumps. But he has no choice but to come here every morning before going to school. even though that was the least of what he ever wanted.
He was short on time. Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves down, he took off again, passing the pack soldiers who were having their morning routine.
He had always dreamed of being a soldier, even rising up in rank to become a commander. just like his father but fate has other plans for him. After the turning saga, he was removed from everyplace activities and was made an outcast.
Jaime instinctively pressed a hand to his chest, where the wolf should’ve been. Where it never woke.
He remembered the ceremony that had happened 5 years ago like it was still today. He was just a thirteen year old boy.
The ripe age to do the turning. A ritual that every werewolf has to undergo. Every young werewolf’s turning was a rite of fire and power. And a special occasion for the pack, as new powers are added to their forces.
Not to talk of the present situation of the world, and the looming threat of the ‘foreigners’' second attack, every wolf that awakens a special affinity was treasured by everybody.
There are wolves with metal affinity, while they are those with incredible strength and stamina, and speed. Then they are those with affinity for healing…it goes on.
The possibilities are endless, and the ceremony was something every young pup wished for, but not for Jaime.
During his time, there had been nothing. No shift. No voice. Only silence.
He had tried for like ten times ,but still nothing.
He could barely imagine the look on his father's face. It was a look of pure disappointment and hatred.
His Alpha, Alpha Derrick had also wore the same look, the elders shook their head in sorrow.
After that day, the way they looked and treated him changed.
Jaime could still remember all their expressions, it still hunted him even in his dreams.
“Jaime Rowan, the son of Beta Rowan…has no wolf.”
And just like that he was discarded like a broken tool in one of his father's facilities. Banned from associating with the other members of the pack, and caused to the outskirts of the border of the pack, That was filled with wandering animals.
He had grown up here, among machines and the wild. He learnt how to fight for survival. Protect himself, and took care of himself until now.
They called it a rare defect. A mystery. But he knew the truth was older and deeper than that.
He was not born wolfless. He Knows that.
The red glaring scars that were on his chest was prove enough. But how could he know what happened to him? His father had said it was from an accident when he was a little, before the death of his mother...
“Trash, why are you coming by this time?” his father's supervisor, Jack scowled at him.
“Sorry I was…”
“I don't need to hear whatever trash would come out from you.” The man rudely interrupted him, before handing him a bucket and mop.
“Get to work”
Supervisor Jack scowled at him, turning to leave.
A shrill scream tore through the whole facility. Jamie froze in his steps, and so did the supervisor. The sound was full of pure, raw agony, pain so deep you could almost feel it clawing at your own soul.
“What is that, who is that…?” Jamie asked in panic.
Even though he already knows the answer to his question. The scream had come from the east chamber of the facility. A forbidden place that no one was allowed to enter.
According to rumor it was where they kept the few dangerous foreigners that couldn't be killed.
The aliens.
Jamie was trembling. A deep seething fear descending upon him. He suddenly felt sick and wanted to throw up.
“Boy, let me warn you…if you like your pathetic life, don't even think of going there. No matter who your father is, you are facing capital punishment when caught.” Jack said slowly and angrily, backing Jamie to a wall.
“Yes sir” Jamie swallowed hard.
“Good, now go back to work, before I toss you to the man eaters”
Laughter followed him as Jamie scrambled away, heart pounding. The mention of the man eaters scaring him to the bone.
The man eaters were the ‘foreigners’ as people call them.
No one knew what world they came from, only that the veil between dimensions had thinned, cracked open during the Solar Shift three years ago. They arrived not in fleets, but individually. one, then another, like sparks breaking through dark cloth. The first contact had sparked fear. The second brought war.
And it was a war between five of the man eaters and over millions of werewolves.
It was said that an average man eater could take on 5 alphas. And alphas are leaders of hundreds of pack members. And it was just an average man eater.. Nobody knows what their mission or aim was but after the first contact with them didn't go well, they declared war on humanity.
Most of them were violent, unpredictable, and immune to traditional werewolf magic. But there's a rumour that one was captured alive…their leader. After which, the others surrendered. one had been captured alive six months ago. The only one.
Jaime hadn’t seen it, only caught rumors. A creature of light. Of power. That was the most dangerous of them all.
They kept him locked in the lowest floor, hooked to machines that could drain 5 Alphas dry in one day
Jaime glanced toward the elevator that led down, curiosity gnawing at his insides. He could swear that he felt a tiny connection. He felt it sometimes, especially at night, a whisper of energy calling to him, strange and aching.
He didn’t know why the same thing he had felt in his dream was now calling to him.
Only that it felt… familiar.
Like a heartbeat out of sync with his own.
He looked away, shoving his hands into his coat pockets, and started walking down the main corridor, past rows of glass-walled labs, past soldiers with cold eyes and tighter leashes. He walked like a ghost. Few soldiers will just look at him, and immediately scrunch up their faces in disgust.
noticed, but ignored.
Jaime had made peace with that. Being overlooked meant freedom in its own way.
It meant he could wander. It meant he could think.
And lately, his thoughts kept returning to the cell beneath them all. To the familiar pull, that has now grown weaker than before. In his dream, he had almost seen the face, but when he wanted to get hold of it.
He caught air.
“Abiagan…” the voice came again, This time weaker like before. Like it was fading out into existence.
Jamie looked over his shoulder, but he couldn't see anyone. Fear spread to his whole body, dropping the brooms and mops, he bolted out of the facility.
“Abagian…” He heard it one more time before the voice stopped completely. He stopped, suddenly turning to look back at the looming facility.
He didn’t know it, but something told him that this was the last he would hear the voice again. A sense of anguish out of nowhere overcame him.
“Ahhhhhh” Jamie let out a heartbrokened cry, toppling to the ground, clutching his chest in pain. A pain like he had ever felt before ripped through his heart.
Chapter 42: Falling inside the trapIt was Saturday morning when someone knocked on the door of Rosa's house.Jaime was in the kitchen helping Thomas wash breakfast dishes. Abiagan was sitting at the table with Penny, looking at one of her books. Marcus was outside chopping wood. Rosa was in her room folding laundry, when the knock came.Everybody stiffened, The knock was loud and formal. Not the friendly tap of a neighbor. This was an official knock. The kind that meant trouble.Jamie, who was in the kitchen, froze. He of all people in the house knows this type of knock. Had Damon finally succeeded in finding out where Abiagan was… "I'll get it," Rosa called from her room. But Jaime had already moved to the window, peeking through the curtain. His heart dropped to his stomach.A tall man in a dark coat stood on the porch. Gray hair. Stern face. The posture of someone used to being obeyed. His father!!"No," Jaime whispered, rushing to the Parlour, his face filled with panic."What
Chapter 41: DAMON'S OBSESSION FOR POWER.At lunch, Layla pulled him aside immediately."Everyone's talking about what happened this morning," she said in a hushed tone. "Damon confronted you about Aliyah. And The almost-fight, between the alpha and his once beta. Jaime, this is getting out of control.""I know," Jaime muttered, imagining Damon's face, while stabbing at his food without eating."He's obsessed," Layla continued. "Really, truly obsessed. I have never seen him like this. Usually, when he wants something and can't get it, he just moves on. But with Aliyah... it's different.""His wolf thinks she's his mate," Jaime said quietly.Liana's eyes widened. "What? How do you know that?""I can see it. In his energy. There's a bond thread reaching from him, searching for her. His wolf latched onto her that day in the registration office.""Oh no," Liana breathed. "That's... that's really bad, Jaime. If his wolf has claimed her as a mate, he's not going to stop until he finds her. E
Chapter 40: Damon's Obsession GrowsThe next day at school, Jaime knew something was wrong the moment he walked through the front doors.A small crowd was gathered at the gates and in their middle, with Damon in the center. He was waiting for him. Like a predator hunting its prey. The alpha heir stood by the main staircase, arms crossed , eyes locked on Jaime like a predator watching prey. His friends flanked him on either side, Kris, Marcus, and a few others. They looked like a wall of muscle and bad intentions.Jaime's wolf stirred uneasily. This was different from Damon's usual bullying. This felt more dangerous. More desperate."Morning, Jaime," Damon said as Jaime tried to walk past. His voice was too calm. Too controlled. "We need to talk.""I have class," Jaime said, not stopping for a bit.A hand shot out and grabbed his shoulder, spinning him around. Damon's grip was tight enough to hurt. And if one looked closely, one could see Damon's wolf visible in his eyes."I said we
Chapter 39: Silent hunterMr Harrison!Jamie almost blew his cover, he quickly covered his mouth with his handIt was actually Mr Harrison. The tired History teacher who had welcomed Aliyah on her first day.But something was wrong with his energy signature.Normal teachers had simple, straightforward energy, stable, and consistent. But Mr. Harrison's energy looked fractured and broken. Like it had been damaged somehow. And there were traces of something else mixed in. Something that didn't belong.Something foreign. Jaime watched as Mr. Harrison walked right through the dead zone like it wasn't there. Didn't even slow down. Just kept walking until he disappeared around another corner.Jaime stayed in the closet for a full five minutes after the footsteps faded, his mind racing quickly.Mr. Harrison had been teaching here for years. He was a respected member of the pack. Trusted. But his energy was wrong. Contaminated with something vile and evil, almost… Virethian.Three possibiliti
CHAPTER 38: The dead ZoneOn Monday, Jaime decided to test his new abilities at school. He walked through the hallways between classes, his energy senses wide open, reading everyone and everything he passed. Most students had simple energy signatures. Wolves, all of them, with varying levels of strength. Some are bright and powerful. Others are dim and weak.He could see the pack hierarchy written in energy, and without asking anybody, their meanings came to him naturally, just as abiagan had told him. The alphas blazed like bonfires. The betas burned steady and strong. The omegas flickered like candles, small but persistent. And then there were the bonds. Threads of energy connecting people who cared about each other. He saw friendship bonds, thin silver threads linking students who sat together at lunch. He saw family bonds, thicker, golden threads connecting siblings and cousins. He saw rivalry bonds too, by dark red threads between people who competed or hated each other. As he wa
CHAPTER 037: NEW ABILITIESThe next few days fell into a pattern.Jaime would wake up wrapped around Abiagan, steal a few precious moments of privacy and intimacy with him before he would be forced to get ready for school, after which he then spent the whole day watching his back and counting the minutes until he could return home.Home! That's what Rosa's house had become to him and abiagan. Not the isolated run-down cabin at the edge of the territory. Not the magnificent pack house where his father and other important people in the pack live. This small, crowded house in the omega district, felt more calming and comfortingThis was home now.But as days pass. Jamie began to notice something was changing inside him. Something he didn't fully understand yet.It started small. He'd look at someone and see a faint shimmer around them. Like heat waves rising from hot pavement, more like threads of energy, except these waves and threads had colors. Different colors for different people. D
