The Ruthless CEO

The grand ballroom at Blake Corporation’s headquarters shimmered beneath crystal chandeliers, their golden light reflecting off polished marble floors. Hundreds of distinguished guests—shareholders, executives, and senior employees—gathered to witness the inauguration of the company’s newly appointed president.

Excitement and rumors buzzed softly through the crowd.

"I heard he studied overseas."

"They say he's even more ruthless than the former chairman."

"I've worked here eight years, and I've never seen him."

Though stories about Adrian Blake had circulated for years, almost no one had met the mysterious heir.

At the front of the hall, the host stepped onto the stage. "Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats. The ceremony is about to begin."

As the room fell silent, a speaker approached the microphone. "Please welcome the newly appointed President of Blake Corporation... Mr. Adrian Blake."

Thunderous applause erupted. Camera flashes lit up the stage as guests craned their necks toward the entrance.

Seconds passed.

The applause slowly died down, replaced by confused whispers.

"Where is he?"

"Is he running late?"

Instead of Adrian, a tall man in a tailored black suit walked calmly onto the stage. Executives immediately recognized him as Ethan Cole, the president’s secretary.

Ethan offered a polite bow. "Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Ethan Cole, executive secretary to President Adrian Blake."

Even William Blake, seated in the front row, lowered his teacup with a helpless sigh.

Ethan unfolded a sheet of paper. "On behalf of President Adrian Blake, I will now deliver his inauguration address."

He cleared his throat and read, "First, I would like to thank everyone who organized today's ceremony." A few relieved smiles appeared. "However, I clearly instructed that no inauguration ceremony should be held."

The smiles instantly vanished.

"Blake Corporation exists to create value—not to waste time and money on unnecessary celebrations," Ethan continued, the atmosphere growing painfully awkward. "I look forward to meeting all of you properly... when business requires it. Thank you."

With another bow, Ethan left the podium without taking questions, leaving the room in shocked silence before quiet discussions broke out.

Among the crowd, Victoria Hayes turned to Chloe Bennett with an amused smile. "So... where exactly is our new president?"

Chloe smiled softly, looking at the empty stage. "I don't know. But whoever he is, he certainly knows how to make an entrance without actually appearing."

"I have a feeling working under him won't be easy," Victoria chuckled.

While the guests filtered out of the ballroom, Adrian was already handling company matters elsewhere.

On the peaceful fairways of an exclusive private golf course, James Sterling was casually practicing his swing when Adrian quietly approached. Without a word, Adrian picked up a golf club and struck a ball cleanly into the distance with a smooth, effortless motion.

James turned, his smile stiffening. "President Adrian... What happened to your inauguration ceremony?"

"I had something more important to attend to," Adrian replied calmly. "I've heard you've been very busy recently."

James frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Accepting bribes. Using company connections for personal business. Selling contracts to relatives," Adrian listed, his expression unreadable. "And hiring your nephew—a third-rate celebrity—to front a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign."

James’s face drained of color. "President Adrian... those are misunderstandings."

"Are they?" Adrian stepped closer. "I saw the advertisement myself. It promoted your nephew better than our product."

"I can explain—"

"You will," Adrian cut in, his calm voice dripping with quiet authority. "I've spent too many years overseas, allowing people to mistake Blake Corporation for their personal playground. That ends today."

Adrian turned and walked away.

"President Adrian, please!" James panicked, running after him. But his polished shoes slipped on the damp grass, sending him crashing to the ground.

By the time James looked up, Adrian had already disappeared toward the clubhouse, leaving him frozen in realization: the era of getting away with everything was officially over.

Chloe sat across from Adrian, barely touching her food as her mind raced. Don't panic, she reminded herself. He doesn't know I'm Chloe. He thinks I'm Aria. She stole a glance at him. Adrian sat completely composed, entirely unaware that she was frantically trying to sabotage their date. Desperate to escape before things spiraled further, she decided to try a new tactic. She tugged at her jacket collar and sighed. "It's getting a bit warm in here, isn't it?" she asked, removing her jacket. "Warm?" Adrian asked, looking toward the air conditioning vent. "It's actually quite cold." "Well... my body runs hot," Chloe countered, pulling her hair back dramatically. Adrian raised an eyebrow, staring at her bare arm. "You have goosebumps." "I get goosebumps all the time!" she insisted, forcing a laugh. Adrian simply nodded, unbothered. A moment later, his phone buzzed. As he began typing a quick reply, Chloe narrowed her eyes. "What are you doing?" "Sorry, just replying to a work text

Adrian sat behind his desk at Blake Corporation, his eyes fixed on the documents in front of him. The office was unusually quiet, but the peace didn't last long. The door opened, and Ethan Cole, his secretary, hurried inside with his phone in hand. “Sir, I have an update regarding your schedule.” Adrian didn't bother looking up. “What is it?” “Your date tonight.” Adrian's pen stopped moving. “My what?” “Your blind date.” Adrian finally raised his head, his brows drawing together. “What? Tonight at seven?” “Yes, sir. At the coffee shop in the Imperial Hotel. You're supposed to meet Aria from the Yale Marine Group.” Adrian's expression immediately darkened. He reached for his schedule book and flipped through the pages. Meeting after meeting filled every available space. “I have a full schedule today. Tell them I'm busy.” Ethan sighed. He had expected that answer. Instead of arguing, he pulled out his phone and played a video. Adrian recognized his grandfather's voice almost

The private hospital suite was unusually quiet, the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor the only sound breaking the silence. Adrian Blake stood beside the bed with his secretary, Ethan Cole, while the attending physician reviewed the latest test results. After a moment, the doctor looked up and smiled reassuringly. "Mr. Blake's condition is stable. His blood pressure is slightly elevated, but it's nothing to be concerned about." Ethan let out a relieved breath. "So he'll be alright?" "Yes," the doctor replied. "With proper rest and medication, he should make a full recovery." Before anyone could relax, William Blake sat upright in bed and frowned. "Nothing to be concerned about? Last week, you told me my lungs were failing, my kidneys were weak, and my intestines weren't functioning properly." The doctor's confident expression faltered. "Well... yes, I did say that." Adrian sighed quietly while Ethan bit the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing. The doctor

Adrian Blake stepped out of his sleek black sports car, his polished leather shoes clicking softly against the marble pavement. The towering headquarters of Blake Corporation reflected the morning sunlight, its glass exterior gleaming like a monument to power and success. Standing by the entrance was his secretary, Ethan Cole, impeccably dressed as always. "Good morning, sir," Ethan greeted with a respectful nod. Adrian acknowledged him with a slight nod as they entered the building. "Has the inauguration been taken care of?" he asked calmly. "Yes, sir. Everything went exactly as planned. Mr. William wasn't particularly pleased, but the ceremony concluded without any major issues." A faint look of relief crossed Adrian's face. "Good." He adjusted the cuff of his tailored suit as they approached the executive elevator. "And my grandfather?" Before Ethan could answer, the elevator doors slid open with a soft chime. Standing inside was William Blake, his sharp eyes instantly lock

The Product Development Department at Nova Care Foods was unusually lively that afternoon. Instead of the usual quiet routine, cheerful chatter and warm laughter filled the office—it was Chloe Bennett’s birthday. Despite the heavy workload, her teammates were determined to celebrate. Chloe sat at her desk organizing research reports, her face glowing as she bantered with her coworkers. The door opened and Victoria Hayes, the deputy manager, stepped in with a warm, elegant smile. She clapped her hands to gather everyone's attention. "Everyone," Victoria announced, "since today is Chloe's birthday, I’ve booked a table for us at Auntie's Street Food tonight!" The room instantly erupted into cheers. "Our favorite spot!" one researcher exclaimed. "It’s been months since we all ate out together," another added. Victoria turned to Chloe with a grin. "And since it’s the birthday girl's favorite restaurant, attendance is mandatory." Touched by the sweet gesture, Chloe smiled gratefully
