The Wrong Bride, The Right Aria.

Adrian dressed with unusual care that evening. He told himself it was simply respect for the occasion — a date deserved effort — but the truth was closer to nerves. This time, at least, he would be meeting the real Aria. Not Chloe.

Aria arrived at the restaurant with minutes to spare, only to discover that every space along the curb was taken. She circled the block twice before easing into a narrow gap between two cars, and it was only as she cut the engine that she felt the soft, unmistakable jolt of metal meeting metal.

"Oh, for heaven's sake."

She stepped out to inspect the damage, already composing her opening line to whoever owned the car behind her — and then stopped short. The man climbing out of the other vehicle was familiar: broad-shouldered, sharply dressed, faintly apologetic even before he'd said a word. It took her only a second to place him.

"Wait — aren't you the man from the convenience store?" she asked, delighted despite herself.

"You remembered me?" Ethan asked, surprised, as they exchanged the brief, awkward courtesies of strangers who'd just dented each other's cars.

It would be hard to forget a face like that, Aria thought, then caught herself and pushed the thought firmly aside.

"I'm good with faces," she said instead, brisk and businesslike. "Listen, I'm in a hurry — call me, and we'll sort out the damage." She pressed a business card into his hand. Please call me, she added silently, and hoped it didn't show on her face.

Ethan turned the card over. "Team Leader, Aria — Marina Group?" He looked up, something clicking into place. He'd seen this name before, on his employer's calendar. "You're that Aria?"

"Yes," she said, smiling. "Is there a problem?"

There was a problem, though neither of them knew it yet. A few feet away, Adrian had been standing quietly through the whole exchange, watching his secretary charm a woman he did not recognize as the one he was supposed to be meeting. Something about the scene didn't sit right with him, and before he could think better of it, he spoke.

"There's a very big problem, actually — Ms. Fake Aria."

Both of them turned toward his voice.

"Do you have any idea it's a crime to use someone else's name?" Adrian pressed on, certain he'd caught an impostor red-handed — never once suspecting that the impostor he'd met days ago was, in fact, the fraud, and that the woman standing in front of him now was the real thing.

"Excuse me?" Aria's composure cracked into something sharper. "Someone else's name? Who exactly do you think you are?"

She had no idea, either — that the man accusing her of theft was her own blind date.

"I went on a blind date with the real Aria a few days ago," Adrian said evenly.

Aria went very still. "...Are you saying you're Adrian?"

Once the introductions had untangled themselves — awkwardly, and with considerably less charm than either had hoped for their first real meeting — they went inside and were seated. For a long moment neither spoke.

Why does my man of destiny have to see me like this? Aria thought, and the words escaped her in a murmur before she could stop them.

"What was that?" Adrian asked.

"Nothing," she said quickly. She had no idea he'd actually heard her.

Adrian studied her for a moment, then set down his water glass with deliberate care. "Ms. Aria. Who was the woman who went on the blind date with me?"

"I don't know," Aria said, holding his gaze — exactly as she and Chloe had rehearsed. "I hired someone through an agency to stand in for me. I never even saw her face. She's a complete stranger."

"A complete stranger," Adrian repeated.

"Yes." She nodded, perhaps a touch too firmly.

Adrian folded his hands and leaned in, resting them on the table between them.

"Funny thing, then," he said, his tone almost casual, "that the bag she brought to our date looked exactly like the one you're carrying now."

"What? That's impossible." Aria's laugh came out thin. "Hers was a Chanel. This is Louis Vuitton. They're nothing alike — you clearly don't know the difference."

Adrian tilted his head slowly, unconvinced.

"Chanel, was it? I thought you said she was a complete stranger. How would you know what bag a stranger carried?" He watched her the way a man watches a hand of cards he already suspects is bluffing.

Right, Aria thought, panic flickering behind her calm expression. How would I know that?

"Our families," Adrian went on quietly, "are going to be furious when they find out what you've done. Are you prepared for that?"

"Do you really have to tell them everything?" she said, softening her voice, reaching for something closer to persuasion than truth. "Couldn't we simply say it didn't work out? That we decided not to see each other again — that the marriage wasn't meant to be — and leave it there?"

Adrian was quiet for a moment, and when he answered, there was nothing casual left in his voice.

"Before any of that," he said, "bring her here. The woman I almost married." He held Aria's gaze, unblinking. "I want to see her face."

The moment Ethan closed the door behind him, Adrian's grandfather turned and walked away without another word, heading straight back to his study. Adrian remained seated, staring at the folder in front of him. It was the file of blind date candidates. "President Adrian." Ethan dropped the file onto the desk with a sigh. "How could you tell a lie like that when you don't even have a woman you're marrying? How are you going to get out of this one?" Adrian's jaw tightened. "What do you expect me to do? I'm going to call the person responsible and make her take responsibility for it." He pulled out his phone and dialed Chloe's number. Chloe was sitting at her desk in the department office when her phone lit up. The moment she saw the caller ID, she frowned. "What is this? I already apologized and settled the whole thing. So annoying." She took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?" Adrian didn't waste a second on greetings. "Let's meet after you get off work." "What? Why? I'm

Adrian sat in his top-floor office, scrolling through the production system with a tense, distracted energy. He barely registered the soft rustle of footsteps until Ethan, his secretary, appeared in the doorway. "You asked for me," Ethan said, raising a hand in a quiet wave as he stepped inside. "Yes." Adrian kept his eyes glued to the screen. "The production line in Africa... when are we restarting the second line?" "It'll take at least a week to finish the replacement work," Ethan replied. He glanced down at his tablet before adding, "And today's Mr. Dylan's first day, isn't it? James's replacement?" "Let's have lunch with him today," Adrian said, his mind already racing ahead to the next item on his agenda. Ethan hesitated, adjusting his posture. "Actually... your schedule has changed. Starting from lunch today." Adrian looked up, caught completely off guard. "What? What do you mean?" "The order came directly from the Chairman." Ethan braced himself. "He's scheduled a series

Adrian sat in the living room, half-watching the morning coverage of the company's ongoing food project scroll across the international news. An ad break cut in. "This early morning, I told them to mind the scheduling," he muttered, and flicked the channel over to something else—an animal documentary, as it turned out, about apes. The word alone was enough to set something off in him. It circled back, unbidden, to Chloe's parting remark the night before. "Freaking ape, my foot." He pressed his palms into his face, exhaled hard, then reached for his phone and dialed her number without giving himself time to reconsider. Chloe was fast asleep. The ringing dragged her halfway out of it, and she fumbled for her phone before pressing it to her ear. "Hello?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. "Ms. Stephanie?" "What's she saying? Why is anyone prank-calling at this hour?" Adrian asked, not realizing she'd mistaken him for someone else. "It's not a prank call," he said. "Are you

Adrian's grandfather sat in the sitting room, thoroughly absorbed in his favorite show. He laughed out loud at something on screen, munching contentedly on a snack, the picture of a man enjoying a quiet evening at home. "I'm home," Adrian announced, stepping through the door. His grandfather didn't so much as glance away from the television. "So, did everything go well with Ms. Aria?" he asked between bites. "What about the wedding? Both of our families should meet first, alright?" He pushed himself up from the sofa, finally giving Adrian his attention. "I've decided not to marry Ms. Aria," Adrian said quietly. His grandfather's expression shifted at once, his voice climbing. "What? What do you mean by that?" "Please," Adrian said, holding up a hand. "Don't bring it up right now. I'd rather not talk about what happened." Across town, Chloe was walking home after the date, her mind snagged on one small, nagging detail. The name Aria had given Adrian's grandfather—Stephanie. Why

Chloe and Aria arrived at the restaurant and were shown to their seats. Chloe still didn't know why she'd been dragged along, but she'd learned not to ask. She pulled out her phone. "Hey, look this way." They leaned in and struck a pose for the camera. "Are you sure that salon is really the one all the celebrities use?" Chloe asked, studying the photo. "Look how heavy this makeup is." Aria winced. "That's because I asked them to do it that way." She didn't mention that she'd planned all along to bring Chloe to Adrian without telling her. "What's that supposed to mean?" Chloe asked warily. Aria's phone buzzed. She snatched it up before the sound had even finished. "Chloe. Listen to me carefully. President Adrian is on his way here." "What? Who's coming?" Chloe's voice cracked. "I didn't have a choice. He found out we were friends and insisted on meeting you," Aria said. "Then you should have pretended you didn't know me!" "He said he'd find out on his own eventual

Chloe paced her room, filled with anxiety because Aria had not responded regarding the blind date with Adrian. "Why isn't she answering my texts?" she wondered aloud. Her phone buzzed with an incoming text from Aria. Aria: Handled. Don't worry. It's all good now. Chloe let out a heavy breath of relief, reading the text once more. "Thank God," she muttered softly. Meanwhile, Aria was gripping her steering wheel tightly, her hands aching from the strain as she fumed over Adrian's temper. "This is driving me crazy. What did he even expect me to do?" she yelled to herself in the quiet vehicle. Ethan walked into his apartment, convinced a break-in had occurred because the space was unexpectedly clean. He was right. Adrian was sitting inside, waiting for him. "You're back," Adrian stated plainly. Ethan ignored the remark and placed his grocery bags on the counter. "Please, leave my house alone." "How am I supposed to leave it alone?" Adrian replied, standing up and grabbing a br
