Chloe paced her room, filled with anxiety because Aria had not responded regarding the blind date with Adrian.

"Why isn't she answering my texts?" she wondered aloud.

Her phone buzzed with an incoming text from Aria.

Aria: Handled. Don't worry. It's all good now.

Chloe let out a heavy breath of relief, reading the text once more. "Thank God," she muttered softly.

Meanwhile, Aria was gripping her steering wheel tightly, her hands aching from the strain as she fumed over Adrian's temper.

"This is driving me crazy. What did he even expect me to do?" she yelled to herself in the quiet vehicle.

Ethan walked into his apartment, convinced a break-in had occurred because the space was unexpectedly clean.

He was right.

Adrian was sitting inside, waiting for him.

"You're back," Adrian stated plainly.

Ethan ignored the remark and placed his grocery bags on the counter. "Please, leave my house alone."

"How am I supposed to leave it alone?" Adrian replied, standing up and grabbing a broom. "Do you always live in this kind of mess, Ethan?"

"Did you buy what I asked for?" Adrian inquired.

"Here," Ethan said, handing over the bag. "And for the record, it isn't a mess. I have my own way of organizing things."

"Unpack them," Adrian ordered.

After Ethan finished cleaning up, Adrian went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. Ethan sat down and watched. Twenty-five minutes later, Adrian brought out the meal.

"So," Ethan began as they ate, "now that you've cleaned and cooked, are you feeling less stressed?"

"Yes," Adrian acknowledged.

"You have a strange way of de-stressing."

"How is it strange?" Adrian asked, a bitter tone in his voice. "I put in time and effort, and I get a result. It's productive."

"Anyway," Ethan shifted the conversation, "since the Aria who showed up to the blind date turned out to be fake, I take it the marriage is off?"

"Why would that follow?" Adrian retorted sharply. "She wasted my time and made me say things I never should have said."

"I doubt the real Ms. Aria wanted an arranged marriage any more than you did. It's not really something to be furious about."

"I'm not talking about the real one. I'm talking about the stand-in—the fake Ms. Aria. What was she even trying to pull?"

Adrian opened a can of beer and chugged it quickly.

"That's an odd place to aim all that anger," Ethan noted, wiping his mouth.

Furious, Adrian slammed the empty can onto the table.

"I can't forgive her. I'll have my revenge... soon."

His grip crushed the aluminum completely flat.

Later, Aria arrived at Chloe's place and found her sleeping. She quietly pulled the blanket up to cover her.

"When did you get here?" Chloe murmured, waking up slightly.

"Just now," Aria said, gently patting her back.

Chloe sat up. "Hey... did Adrian find out you were trying to fool him?"

"What?" Aria asked, startled.

"There's a rumor going around at work that he's genuinely dangerous. They say he's fired executives who crossed him."

"Let's not dwell on what's already over," Aria dismissed with a wave of her hand. "Why don't we go blow off some steam instead?"

"Where?" Chloe asked, still drowsy.

They drove to a boutique. "Go ahead. Try on anything you like," Aria offered, retrieving her card.

For the next hour, they tried on various outfits.

"This one's the best yet," Aria remarked, admiring Chloe in a new dress.

"What's gotten into you? Buying me all this?" Chloe asked.

"I know you've been stressed lately... because of me," Aria answered, smiling faintly.

"You're doing all this over one blind date?"

Aria checked her phone to send a quick message. A chime sounded, and Chloe looked over immediately.

"Wait... are you—"

"Am I what?" Aria interrupted.

"Don't you dare ask me to go on another blind date for you. I'm never doing that again."

"Don't worry," Aria said gently. "I won't ask again."

She turned toward the stylist.

"Make her look beautiful. Make her shine."

The moment Ethan closed the door behind him, Adrian's grandfather turned and walked away without another word, heading straight back to his study. Adrian remained seated, staring at the folder in front of him. It was the file of blind date candidates. "President Adrian." Ethan dropped the file onto the desk with a sigh. "How could you tell a lie like that when you don't even have a woman you're marrying? How are you going to get out of this one?" Adrian's jaw tightened. "What do you expect me to do? I'm going to call the person responsible and make her take responsibility for it." He pulled out his phone and dialed Chloe's number. Chloe was sitting at her desk in the department office when her phone lit up. The moment she saw the caller ID, she frowned. "What is this? I already apologized and settled the whole thing. So annoying." She took a deep breath before answering. "Hello?" Adrian didn't waste a second on greetings. "Let's meet after you get off work." "What? Why? I'm

Adrian sat in his top-floor office, scrolling through the production system with a tense, distracted energy. He barely registered the soft rustle of footsteps until Ethan, his secretary, appeared in the doorway. "You asked for me," Ethan said, raising a hand in a quiet wave as he stepped inside. "Yes." Adrian kept his eyes glued to the screen. "The production line in Africa... when are we restarting the second line?" "It'll take at least a week to finish the replacement work," Ethan replied. He glanced down at his tablet before adding, "And today's Mr. Dylan's first day, isn't it? James's replacement?" "Let's have lunch with him today," Adrian said, his mind already racing ahead to the next item on his agenda. Ethan hesitated, adjusting his posture. "Actually... your schedule has changed. Starting from lunch today." Adrian looked up, caught completely off guard. "What? What do you mean?" "The order came directly from the Chairman." Ethan braced himself. "He's scheduled a series

Adrian sat in the living room, half-watching the morning coverage of the company's ongoing food project scroll across the international news. An ad break cut in. "This early morning, I told them to mind the scheduling," he muttered, and flicked the channel over to something else—an animal documentary, as it turned out, about apes. The word alone was enough to set something off in him. It circled back, unbidden, to Chloe's parting remark the night before. "Freaking ape, my foot." He pressed his palms into his face, exhaled hard, then reached for his phone and dialed her number without giving himself time to reconsider. Chloe was fast asleep. The ringing dragged her halfway out of it, and she fumbled for her phone before pressing it to her ear. "Hello?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep. "Ms. Stephanie?" "What's she saying? Why is anyone prank-calling at this hour?" Adrian asked, not realizing she'd mistaken him for someone else. "It's not a prank call," he said. "Are you

Adrian's grandfather sat in the sitting room, thoroughly absorbed in his favorite show. He laughed out loud at something on screen, munching contentedly on a snack, the picture of a man enjoying a quiet evening at home. "I'm home," Adrian announced, stepping through the door. His grandfather didn't so much as glance away from the television. "So, did everything go well with Ms. Aria?" he asked between bites. "What about the wedding? Both of our families should meet first, alright?" He pushed himself up from the sofa, finally giving Adrian his attention. "I've decided not to marry Ms. Aria," Adrian said quietly. His grandfather's expression shifted at once, his voice climbing. "What? What do you mean by that?" "Please," Adrian said, holding up a hand. "Don't bring it up right now. I'd rather not talk about what happened." Across town, Chloe was walking home after the date, her mind snagged on one small, nagging detail. The name Aria had given Adrian's grandfather—Stephanie. Why

Chloe and Aria arrived at the restaurant and were shown to their seats. Chloe still didn't know why she'd been dragged along, but she'd learned not to ask. She pulled out her phone. "Hey, look this way." They leaned in and struck a pose for the camera. "Are you sure that salon is really the one all the celebrities use?" Chloe asked, studying the photo. "Look how heavy this makeup is." Aria winced. "That's because I asked them to do it that way." She didn't mention that she'd planned all along to bring Chloe to Adrian without telling her. "What's that supposed to mean?" Chloe asked warily. Aria's phone buzzed. She snatched it up before the sound had even finished. "Chloe. Listen to me carefully. President Adrian is on his way here." "What? Who's coming?" Chloe's voice cracked. "I didn't have a choice. He found out we were friends and insisted on meeting you," Aria said. "Then you should have pretended you didn't know me!" "He said he'd find out on his own eventual
