Angel

He held my hand again, a grip of ice and iron, and marched me toward the driveway. The black car was waiting, its engine a low, predatory hum that vibrated through the pavement. The chauffeur opened the door, and Drake practically threw me inside.

My body finally remembering how to shake. I was vibrating from head to toe; a fine tremor I could not stop. The door closed with a heavy clunk, and the world outside vanished.

My thoughts a broken mess. I hope I have not made a deal with the dev

AngelWe finally came to a stop in front of a small cave. I bent over immediately, trying to catch my breath. My lungs burned. My legs felt like jelly. Sweat dripped down my face. For a moment, I wondered if Drake had secretly been trying to kill me.I looked around and couldn’t help but gasp. The place was beautiful. Tall trees surrounded the area. The grass was short and soft beneath my feet. Birds chirped somewhere in the distance. The cave itself sat quietly between two large rocks as though it had been hidden there for years. It was peaceful. Far away from the mansion. Far away from the city. Far away from everyone.“But… but why did we have to come this far?” I managed to ask between breaths.Drake looked completely unaffected by the run. Not even a drop of sweat. I hated him a little for that.“Do you want to go back?” he asked.“No.”“Are you tired already?”“No.”“You can go back now.”“No!” I practically screamed. I immediately straightened my back. Trying my best not to loo

Angel“Are you ready?” he asked again. I blinked twice before responding.“Are you for real?” He just kept staring at me.“Forgive me, I know you as a good businessman, but as a karate tutor, I am not so sure. So I think it’s better if I go with Mat.” His expression remained unreadable.Just as I was looking at him, my phone rang. I checked my bag.Mat.“Sorry, my tutor is calling,” I told Drake before answering.“Hi, Mat.”“Angel, I am sorry. I would have to cancel.”“What happened?”“Mr. Grey called this morning. Apparently there are some things that need to be finished urgently. I don’t know if we can fix another date.”“Oh.” Disappointment immediately settled inside me.“I am sorry.”“No, it’s fine. Whenever you’re free, just let me know and I will work around your schedule.”“You’re not angry?”“Of course not.”“I really wanted to teach you.”I laughed.“Well, your boss had other plans.”Mat laughed softly.“I guess he did.”“I hope everything goes well.”“It will.”“I’ll see you

Angel“Karate classes, and Mat is taking me. We are starting tomorrow since there is a holiday,” I said with a smile.Drake’s face immediately darkened.“There will be no karate classes,” he said sharply. “Besides, you need to heal.”“I am fine,” I replied. “And besides, I think it is time I start exercising my arm again.”I smiled, completely ignoring the visible anger on his face. That only seemed to make him more annoyed.“Angel—”“I already told Mat I would be there.”“You should have asked me first.”I laughed.“Asked you?”“Yes.”“For karate classes?”“Yes.”“Maybe next time”“They will be no next time, Little Mouse“ I shook my head.“You are acting ridiculous.” His jaw tightened.“And you are acting stubborn.”“Maybe because people keep trying to tell me what to do.”“Someone has to.”“I managed perfectly fine before I met you.”“That is debatable.” I glared at him.“Little Mouse, you will do what I say, my house my rules, you are not going for any Karate classes with Mat and T

AngelBy the time work ended for the day, I felt exhausted. The entire day had been filled with meetings, presentations, and preparations for the campaign.I packed my things slowly and was about to leave when my phone vibrated.A message.I looked down. There is a car waiting for you at the parking lot.I immediately knew who it was from.Drake.I rolled my eyes.Typical. Not even a greeting. Just instructions.I grabbed my bag and headed toward the elevator. The lobby was so busy as people prepared to go home.I was halfway across the floor when I heard someone shouting behind me.“Angel!”I turned.Mat was running toward me.“What happened?” I asked. He stopped in front of me.“I completely forgot to tell you something.”“What?”His face immediately brightened.“Tomorrow is going to be amazing.”I laughed.“Why?”“Because there is a public holiday.”My eyes widened.“Really?”“Not just one day.”I waited.“Two days.”“Oh wow!”I almost jumped.“Two whole days?”“Two whole days.”“W

Angel“You will be sent out of here.” The deep male voice cut through the tension instantly.Everyone around us went silent. The rude model froze immediately.Mat straightened beside me while Rita looked relieved.I turned slowly. Grey stood behind us. His expression calm.Cold. Dangerously calm. The model recovered quickly and folded her arms.“And who exactly are you to speak to me like that?” she snapped.Grey stared at her quietly.“You seem to have forgotten where you are,” he said smoothly. The girl scoffed loudly.“I think you’ve forgotten who I am.” Grey tilted his head slightly. The corner of his lips lifted into a faint smile.“Apologies for being rude,” he said calmly. The model smirked proudly immediately.I almost thought the situation was ending. Then Grey spoke again.“But if you continue speaking to the staff that way,” he continued softly, “you will still be removed.”Her face darkened immediately.“And if I don’t leave, what exactly will you do?” she barked back. The

AngelBianca stood there for a few seconds after Drake walked away. Her chest rose heavily with anger while her eyes burned into mine. For a moment, neither of us spoke. Then suddenly. She laughed.Cold.Sharp.Mocking.“So this is what he has reduced himself to?” she said bitterly.I folded my arms slowly.“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”“Oh please,” Bianca scoffed immediately. “Don’t act innocent with me.”She stepped closer. Her heels clicked dangerously against the floor.“This marriage?” she continued. “It’s a show.”I stayed silent.“A game Drake is playing to spite the Cranes.” Her lips curled slightly.“And you foolishly walked into it.” My jaw tightened immediately.“He doesn’t love you.” The words landed harder than I expected.“He’s using you exactly the same way he used every other woman before you.” I looked away briefly. Then back at her.“You are no different from them,” Bianca continued cruelly. “And sooner or later, you’re going to realize that.”Her eyes sl

AngelAfter the tests, I requested to be brought back to my room. I am back there now. The clinical air was making me feel more sick than the injury itself.I could still remember the look on Dr. Vance’s face when he walked in with the results of the MRI and CT scan.“The Siphon-Core is there, but

DrakeHours passed. Too many. I lost count somewhere between the steady beeping of the monitors and the rise and fall of her chest. DrakeEarlier, Dr. Vance had called me out to the lab.I stood over the lab table, staring down at the ribbed, hollowed-out bullet through the microscope. It looked like nothing, just a piece of dead metal, dark like burnt coal. But I knew better. He had shown me the bullet that was taken from Ange

Drake“You are strong,” one of the elders said, his voice edged with disbelief. “How could a mere threat cause you to betray your people?”Morris shook his head violently, panic written all over his face.“They have my family!” he shouted, his voice cracking under the weight of fear. “I had no choi
