The sharp click of her heels echoed against the marble floor, slicing through the ambient office noise. Heads turned. Ariel had shown up to work looking... different. Stunning, even.

Her short, corporate black skirt hugged her curves perfectly, and the blush pink silk blouse she wore was neatly tucked in, its sheen catching the light with every graceful step. Her black body wave hair framed her delicate face like a halo.

She looked like she owned the room.

Victoria and Ivory sneered from the corner, their eyes dripping with jealousy as she strode past them, but Ariel didn't spare them a glance. Chin raised, back straight, she made her way to her basement office with quiet confidence.

A sigh of relief escaped Joan's lips when she saw her. “Whew!! She sighed. “I was worried sick, I'm so sorry I left the way I did.”

“It's fine.” Ariel replied with a smile. Joan took some time to absorb her sexy new look, glad her effect was rubbing off on Ariel. “This is more like it.” She whisp

    The scary incident of the last time still haunted her. She had constant nightmares where she was falling from a skyscraper, and a truck racing madly towards her. She looked at the despicable man she had married, the one whose favorite pastime was tormenting her. She hated that he could still steal her breath without trying.He lounged behind his massive desk like it was his throne. The dim light from the window caught the edges of his sharp jawline, throwing shadows across his perfectly sculpted face. His lips curved, not into a smile but something that said he knew exactly what he was doing to her.God, she hated him. And hated even more that a part of her still burned.“Where are you gonna throw me this time around?.” She asked him in a low menacing voice. She was scared of him, but she was not going to make it obvious. “I don't answer to your kind.” He brushed her question aside. Ariel scoffed in disbelief. “You hate humans but you have a co

    The loud, pulsing music thrummed beneath their feet, making the ground vibrate as Joan and Ariel stepped into the upscale nightclub. Barely-clad strippers wearing bunny masks twirled seductively around chrome poles, while men stared openly, eyes glued to every sway of their bodies. The dance floor was alive with energy. Girls in skimpy dresses and adrenaline-fueled guys moved wildly to the beat. Ariel followed closely behind Joan, who strutted confidently toward a reserved VIP table. “I don’t really fancy crowds,” Joan said as they walked, “but I do love clubbing.” Ariel smiled quietly. They sat side by side, sipping on cocktails while nodding along to the music. Across the room, Jaques was preparing to leave when his eyes landed on her. He froze. He couldn’t look away. Her beauty drew him in like a magnetic wave, almost supernatural in its pull. She was irresistible. Every time she smiled, it did something to him—softened his chest, stirred something deep. He knew then;

    The next day at work, Ariel shuddered as she sank behind her desk, she had caught a cold from the lake. Her phone was soaked and she had no money to take a taxi home. Marie had given her warm clothes and wrapped her in a blanket when she got home. But she had no time to brood over her problems. Her basement door swung open with a whoosh, she froze. Her eyes were not playing tricks on her. The girl really was here to share her basement. Her elegant red stilettos echoed against the floor as she strode in confidently, carrying a small box. She flashed a warm smile at the mesmerized Ariel, who couldn’t tear her gaze away from the tall glass of gorgeousness standing in her basement. “Hi, I'm Joan.” She introduced herself. Walking to the empty table by the printer, she drops her stuff. “You're probably wondering why I'm here.” Ariel snapped out of her staring and smiled at the pretty Joan. She was drawn to how charismatic and extremely confident she was. She had walked into t

    Ariel was exhausted. It was another day of working past her work hours. Almost every member of the marketing team had piled uncompiled research papers on her desk. She was still not done. Feeling sleepy, she clicked away on the keyboard so she won't have to work much the following day. Her role was becoming clear, cruel Axel had hired her to become the company's errand girl. The huge office building was almost empty, only the occasional clicking of her keyboard and the silent hum of the electronic appliances in the office could be heard. The time displayed on her phone screen alarm her senses. Marie had gotten her a new cell phone. At this point, she was like the mother she never had. Ariel skims through the pile of papers left and decides to pile them up. She set them aside on her desk and dismissed for the day. The air was chilly, she could still smell the petrichor the rain had left behind. Although it was night, the city buzzed with activity. The psychedelic lights at the

He cups his burning cheek with left hand in confusion. “How dare you disgrace me this way before everyone?!.” Calista yells. “Bianca has been nothing but a good woman to you, you dare repay her this way.” Bianca sobs from the sofa where she sat. Calista had come to vent after hearing her run away daughter in-law was back. She had encouraged her son to marry Bianca, their wedding was going to put their family on a high pedestal. Ever since her husband passed away, she wanted nothing more than to continue his legacy. She had despised Ariel, her son's ex fiance who was nothing more than a wretched orphan and a mere delivery girl with no class or a place in society. “I swear mother, I dont know that lady.” “I have no idea who she is.” “You embarrassed our family before our associates and all my friends. Our stocks are going down. How do you intend to fix this?.”“I'll find her and fix everything, I was
