6. A change for the better

Margarita looks up at her mom, who is smiling at her. She beams happily and trails her fingers across Juliana's face.

"I'm fine, mom; I just miss you," She replied. Juliana found her amusing and chuckled.

"You saw me just before we went to sleep last night; how come you already miss me? I see you are trying to curry favor with me," Juliana said with a teasing smile, and Margar blushed.

She tucked her hair behind her ears and reached out to take the plate of baked pancakes from her mother. After a bit, she giggles.

"This is super tasty, mummy; I miss it too. You should make them often. Also, the night was a long one, so I miss you," Margar relished, and Juliana hummed as she watched her daughter eat.

Although she was an adult already, she couldn't help but wish Margarita could spend a few years without growing up so she could spoil her rotten. She was married for nine years and was childless until, eventually, she got pregnant and gave birth to her bundle of joy.

"Alright, baby, finish this up and come downstairs for a proper breakfast. It's almost lunchtime, and your dad has already left for the company. I'll be going downstairs now," Juliana proposed.

Margarita nods at her mom and immediately agrees. Of course, four pies and pancakes couldn't satisfy her cravings for her mother's dishes.

"Alright then, mummy; also, I want us to go shopping later," She says, winking at her. Julian shakes her head, thinking she understands every strategy this spoilt daughter of hers would carry out just to be mischievous.

"Sure, Margar, you know I'm always free and ready to stroll through the street."

As the door closes. Margarita stuffs a full-size pancake in her mouth. She could still hear the sound of a car crashing against a huge truck and the fading beep from the computer at the hospital.

Lucinda had killed her mom in the past, but in this present life, she'll make sure she protects her.

She walks up to her closet and sees different clothes on the racks. They were mostly light-colored clothes that gave off vibrant and innocent vibes. These weren't the types of clothes that she intended to wear. Rummaging through her things, Margarita finds a big pair of black leather pants.

She smirks, thinking it is exactly what she wants. However she searched for a matching top, she didn't get the one she wanted. Groaning in distress, Margarita thought to go check out her mother's closet. As she was getting ready to leave, she heard the sound of a phone ringing.

Scanning through the room, her eyes landed on a phone at the bedside. She remembers the pinkish-white pouch. It was a gift she had gotten from Lucinda, and the phone was a gift from her dad. A scowl settled on her face, and she took the phone, pulled off the pouch, and threw it in the trash can.

She scrolled through her phone and found out she had several missed calls from an unknown number. Curious to know who's calling, she decides to call back. Unexpectedly, the person calls back again. Margarita receives the call but doesn't speak until she hears the voice of an arrogant little cat.

"Margarita Remington, I thought you weren't going to pick up the call since I spoke badly of your angel sister. Anyway, it's good you did because, Professor Liam, is coming to the city and our college."

Margarita's breathing halted as she tried to recall who Professor Liam was. It instantly fell to her. He is a world-renowned professor who is rumored to be the best business management course teacher in the world.

According to research, all the students he picks and tutors always end up being the most successful in each province. He is known to be the quiet, no-nonsense type of teacher who only assigns geniuses and top students his teaching courses.

Capital College has always applied so he could visit their institute and pick out students for his classes. However, he often ignored them. But this time, he decided to choose his next batch of students from Capital College. This news excited not just Nichole but Margarita as well.

She wasn't opportune in her previous life to be his student, as she was three marks away from the expected mark, all because she was caught up playing lovey-dovey with Murphy. This time, she didn't want to miss out on it.

"Are you for real, Nichole? Professor Liam is coming to set the test at our College?" She yells excitedly, and Nichole giggles, sharing her excitement.

"Yes, Margar, it's all over the news. He is already in the city, but he'll be at our college by next week," Nichole yells back. The two laugh, and Nichole suddenly clears her throat.

"Do you have something to say?" She mumbled. Margar could envision Nichole fixing her round glasses with a stoic look. She giggles.

"Alright, I'm sorry; I got angry for no good reason. You were kind of right," She said, and she heard Nichole gasp in surprise.

"Good for you…"

Beep beep! Margarita hung up without waiting to hear Nichole's rants about how awful and selfish Lucinda was.

She didn't need to be told again. She had experienced it and knew everything. Too bad she had paid deaf ears to Nichole's warnings in the past. However, she isn't going to make the same mistakes again.

Margar picks up the black pants and heads downstairs to meet her mom. She smiles as she watches Juliana perform yoga from a distance.

Juliana was dressed in ash gray yoga leggings and a white sports bra. She looked young and sexy, and her skin was still vibrant with no sign of wrinkles despite her age.

Feeling eyes on her, Juliana turns around and catches Margar red-handed before she can turn around and run. "Hey, Margar, I caught you peeking," she says lightly.

"Why aren't you dressed up yet? You still have to eat before leaving."

"I know, mummy, I just want to try out something different. I'll be in your closet. There's no rush; you can carry on with your yoga."

"My closet? Why will you be in my closet? Do not, I repeat, do not take my clothes, okay? Lucy already took out my new favorite jacket. Don't you dare also try that?"

"Oh, c'mon, mummy, I'm just going to check; I'm not taking anything. Don't you even trust me?" Margarita whines, but Juliana acts unaffected.

"I would have believed you if you weren't holding those pants. I know you are only going to steal my shirt."

"It's taking, not stealing, mummy, much! Margar loves you to the moon."

As she spoke, she waited not one more moment before dashing out to Julian's room. Time passed, and Margar walked down the stairs with her phone. Dressed in baggy black pants and a hot red shirt. A small red handbag on her arm, coupled with black stiletto heels.

Her hair had been packed into a smooth ponytail. In her ears are a pair of long earrings that hit her shoulders.

Her makeup was sophisticated, and her walking mannerisms did not only stun Lucinda, who was now seated in the living room, but also Juliana, who had now completed her yoga section.

"Wow, Margar, your looks are killing!" Juliana muttered, still astounded.
