“So someone poisoned him?” Sharon asked dumbly. She was still in total disbelief of the whole thing.

“Obviously,” Malia replied, handing the glass back to Drago. “You should know what to do with the bottle.”

He nodded and left the room.

“But who could do this?” Sharon asked no one in particular.

Malia picked up her bag from the table where she had kept it, flung it over her shoulder, and said, “That is left for you to find out. I am done here.”

“Wait! That’s it? Is there no cure for it?” Sharon

Neil kept calling Avira, but she was not picking up. He had only just gotten her number the night before at the hospital when she was asleep. He knew when she left the room and also knew the exact time she crept back in. But he had pretended to be sleeping all along.Scott called him a few minutes after she left.“Luna Avira just left the hospital premises with the hunter guy.”That piqued his interest real quick.“With who?”“The werewolf hunter. I think his name is something…”“Thiago,” Neil completed.Something in him twisted badly, and his whole demeanor changed entirely.“Yes, Alpha. Should I go with them?” Scott asked again.“No. I want you up here now,” he ordered, and as he waited impatiently for Scott’s arrival, his thoughts were running wild. What in the hell could they be doing right now?Had she left her sick daughter to go see a man?Was he actually a friend to her?Once Scott knocked on the door, Neil took one good look at Rosie and then rushed out.“Stay here,” he simpl

“I have been so busy lately that I didn’t even remember about it,” Malia replied, the sad thoughts lingering in her head.“Well, that’s why you have me. We are having a birthday party at my place—your birthday party.”Malia wanted so much to tell her that she was really not comfortable with the idea of celebrating her birthday, but the joy Sharon had on her face as she spoke about the preparations made her just decide to go along with it.“I was planning on inviting Neil. Do you think he would come?” Sharon asked.“I don’t know, but can we continue this conversation later? I am already two minutes late for history class.”“Ohh. I have to go to the library. I’ll see you during lunch break,” Sharon said as she walked out of the empty classroom.“Yeah,” Malia replied as she hurried down the hall towards her class, turning to wave at Sharon. Her best friend.****“Well, not anymore,” she muttered under her breath as she snapped out of the memory lane. Now Sharon was just one bitch she wou

All I know how to do is confirm and stop the poison from spreading quickly. If you need a cure, find a healer.”“And where can I find a healer? You know how scarce they are.” Sharon’s voice was raised, and Malia didn’t take a liking to it.“Well, that is your problem, SHARON. Deal with it or your father dies.”Then she turned to Neil. He seemed oblivious to their conversation; he was focused on his phone, typing

Avira arrived shortly at the address Thiago had sent to her. When she got out of the car, Thiago was outside waiting for her.She rushed towards him.“Hey!” He smiled at her.“Where is she?” She went straight to the point, ignoring his greeting.“I don’t know.”“What do you mean you don’t know?” Her voice was breaking at this point.“Calm down, Avira. We will find her.” He reassured her, placing his hand gently on her shoulders. She shrugged him off. She didn’t look at him; if she had, she would have seen the hurt in his eyes.“How can I be calm? How the hell can I be calm, T??” Her hands were shaking, and she felt a pain settling at the back of her head. She couldn’t remember the last time she took her medication, and her headaches were getting much worse. She held her head as the pain hit her hard.“What is it? Is it your headache?” Thiago asked with so much concern. “Are you with your medication?”She shook her head to indicate that she wasn’t. He took a quick look around and spott

Sharon stood exactly where she was, making no effort to get Neil off Drago. She also didn’t try to help Malia, who was getting to her feet, her face filled with anger. She noticed a slight movement from the bed, and when she turned to look, her father’s eyes moved. She was trying to figure out if she was mistaken when his eyes fluttered open. “Father!” she yelled, startling everyone in the room as she rushed towards his bedside. Malia got there before her and quickly pulled the needle from his head. Sharon pushed past her and sat on the bed, grabbing her dad’s hands. His eyes, which had been open a while ago, were now closed. But she noticed that his body was a little bit warmer. “What did you do to him?” Sharon asked, directing her question at Malia. Meanwhile, Neil had gotten off Drago, and though you could see how strained his whole body was in his attempt to keep his anger in check, Malia knew that if Drago made one more mistake, he would be sorry. “Well, if he had let me ope

“You will have to stay back,” the guard said to Scott as he opened the door slightly. “I was only asked to bring the lady.”“You can wait here, Scott,” Malia added as she saw the resistance in Scott’s eyes. He nodded and moved back. When she walked into the room, Neil was standing beside the window, and Sharon was standing next to him, clinging to his arm.Her eyes darted to the bed. It was Alpha Calvert. She took one look at him and knew instantly why Neil had called her.“You wasted time,” Neil said immediately he sensed her.She rolled her eyes and tamed her tongue from spitting out what she really wanted to say. He should be grateful she even came in the first place. It was then she noticed that someone else was in the room. He was at the far end of the room, his eyes fixed on her, and from where she stood, Malia could feel his burning anger.“I came as quickly as I could.”Sharon turned to look at her, and their eyes locked for a while, each buried in their own thoughts. Malia he
