Chapter 2

LIAM’S POV:

 "I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window. I sat up on my bed and stretched, feeling the familiar tingle of energy that came with the start of a new day. I looked in the mirror and saw my reflection staring back at me. I looked completely normal, just like any other human. But deep down, I knew I was different. I was a werewolf.

I could hear the sounds of breakfast in the kitchen below me.

Yes,I haven’t been able to transform yet but as a werewolf,we can hear voices and be able to know your smell and all.

My mother and father were talking, the clatter of dishes punctuating their conversation. My sister,Nora was chattering away on the phone,she’s always so busy on her phone..”don’t she have other things to do than waste her time with a bunch of teenage guys..

Liam,I heard my mom call me..please come downstairs,you’re late,mr Humphrey will be here any minute.

Mr. Humphrey.”He's a stern but kind man who has been teaching the werewolves for many years according to my dad. He's known for his strict adherence to the rules, but he also has a soft spot for his students. He believes that all werewolves should have the opportunity to learn and grow, and he wants to help them reach their full potential. 

"Leave your phone for a minute Nora”I heard my dad say.

As I showered and dressed.

I reached the bottom of the stairs.

All eyes were on me.

“Morning Liam” mom greeted cheerfully. 

“Morning mr and mrs kieran,I smiled.

that’s what i always call them and my mum seem to like it as she laughed it away..I took a seat on the opposite end of the table.

I had no idea why the dining table has to be this long,it’s literally just the four of us most of the times 

 As we were eating,my dad kept looking at me 

What was it you wanted to talk about Liam?”he asked seriously 

Um…this was it

I took a deep breath in,preparing myself to have the courage to say what I want 

I…I feel bottled up here,I spend all day doing nothing,reading books you send to me,learning how to control myself..seeing the same people everyday 

Do you not like it here”he asked

  I love it here dad,I said but….

But what Liam”my mother added curious 

I would like to go to school like others do

I want to live a normal life,you have always wanted that for us 

Yayyyy…my sister Nora shouted

“Keep your voice down in the dining room “my mum said 

High school…Emma said it’s the most adrenal surge filled place she’s ever been to

I don’t even know what it means “Nora said happily.

"I understand your desire to experience more of the world, Liam," my father said, his face softening. "But we have to consider the safety and security of our kind. We can't risk exposure, and we have to think about what's best for you."

"But what if it is best for me, to go out into the world?" I countered. "To learn and grow and become who I'm meant to be? 

My mother looked at my father, her eyes questioning.

You are supposed to follow in your father’s footsteps Liam”

"But what if there's more to life than just following in your footsteps?" I said, my voice rising slightly.

My parents exchanged a long look, their faces unreadable. Finally, my father spoke.

"I will think on this," he said slowly. "It is a lot to consider, and I will need time to consider it properly.

I was anxious all day and waited for my dad’s reply.

Then I heard a knock on my door.

“Open up Liam”,Nora said

What do you want,Nora?

Dad wants to see you”she said 

I was anxious,then I ran downstairs into dad’s office.

This was my first time being in dad’s office.

I was only there when I was little. 

It pretty much look the same as it was before.

“I have given your request a great deal of thought”he said calmly 

I have decided to let you go to school but with terms and conditions 

I know I know,dad”I said

I need to keep everything a secret from humans and not make friends with them for our own safety”

Thank you Mr Kieran “I said with so much excitement 

As I came downstairs.

I said”Nora…

I know,dad accepted and we can start school from tomorrow.

Don’t forget I can hear things too”.she said 

And how great is that I asked” I said mocking her.

I grab my phone and dial her number. It rings a few times before she answers. "Hey, what's up?" she asks, sounding anxious. I’m so excited that I can barely contain myself. "Sophia!" I exclaim. "My dad said we can go to school!"

"What?!" Sophia exclaims, sounding shocked. "That's awesome! When do you start?" I can hear the excitement in her voice. "We start tomorrow!" I say. "I can't believe it!" Sophia says.

“Me too”,I said.

"Hey, Sophia," I say. "What's school like? I mean, how are the classes and stuff?" There's a pause on the other end of the line, and then Sophia says, "School is so much fun!

"We have parties and dances and all kinds of stuff," Sophia continues. "The classes are pretty easy, and the teachers are not all that nice but You're going to love it!" I feel my nerves start to fade away, and I feel a sense of excitement bubbling up inside me. "That sounds awesome!" I say. "And do you party with the humans?”

“Of course,I do”

“Just party though nothing else”

I laughed and said”you don’t have to explain yourself to me”

“See you tomorrow Liam”

And she ended the call

“She must be really excited more than I am”

Knowing that I have nothing to worry about, I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.
