Chapter sixty five: argument

Sei and I slowly walked outside of the castle. I was starting to feel better, but there was still a dull ache in my heart. I gently rubbed my arms when a cold gust of wind blew past me, making goosebumps form on my skin. Sei had his eyes on the floor. That was the only thing that hadn't changed about him. He still wasn't the most social person.

"Do you think things would be different between us if he was still here?" I asked softly. It was no secret that Sei and I avoided each other beyond measure. That was difficult since he and I lived under the same roof. He was in charge of the guards, and he sometimes took the position as Alexander's advisor. He would forever be a part of my life.

I can't help but think about how it would be with Silas. Would Sei be as close to Alexander? Would he have accepted Daffodil as his mate so quickly?

"I don't think so," he answered honestly. "But then again, things have changed, so maybe he would have as well."
