“LEILA!”

I shot awake. Water splashed everywhere.

“You were having a nightmare.” Nicks voice was instantly calming and grounding.

He grabbed a towel and offered it to me. I stood and wrapped it around me. I looked to see the amount of water I had spilt out of the tub.

“I’m sorry, I should clean this up.”

“Don’t be silly. I just want to know if you are alright?”

I nodded a little shaken.

“Meet me in the living room when you’re ready.”

I nodded and headed to my room. I grabbed some comfy clothes out of my drawer but then had a devilish thought. I put my clothes back and headed over to Nick’s room. Upon opening his wardrobe, I found an array of what I was searching for. I grabbed one of his white shirts and slipped it on. With a smile I headed into the living room. His eyes became ablaze when he saw me, and that wicked smile flashed across his face. He stood up from the sofa and walked over to me. A gentle kiss passed my lips, so soft it was almost invisible.     We arrived early and arrived before his siblings. As he opened the door the smell of food filled the air. We both had handfuls of bags when he called out for his parents.     Christmas day was here. This was the first Christmas in a long time I had been looking forward to. I was wide awake early just like when I was a kid. I was up, showered, dressed and prepping before Nick even woke up.     Saturday morning, I awoke feeling exhausted from the previous night’s events accompanied by lack of sleep.     The day was tedious, everyone bid me happy birthday. The last meeting of the day stayed on track, and we resolved the agenda in half the time I thought it would take.
