Liam’s POV

The evening air was cool, tinged with the scent of pine and damp earth. I left the training yard behind, the wooden dummies and sparring partners and followed the palisade path toward the northern border. Peace had come to Crimson Moon, but my feet still itched for the march of soldiers. So I walked, spear in hand, ears tuned for the smallest sound.

That’s when I smelled it: something alien beneath the pines. Not wolf musk, not campfire smoke, an undercurrent of the strange. My heart tightened. I slowed, taking a low breath.

Smoke? Sulfur? I raised my hand to catch more of the scent. It was faint, but steady, lingering along the underbrush. I eased off the path and pressed close to the trees, following the aroma like a bloodhound. My senses sharpened: I felt the pulse of the earth, the whisper of leaves, as though the forest itself warned me.

I moved quietly, spear tip brushing low branches. The smell grew stronger near a moss-covered rock. I crouched and pressed my palm a

Henry’s POVThe morning sun was just a pale glow on the horizon when I slipped into the apothecary’s workshop. Shelves lined with jars of petals, roots, and odd ingredients beckoned me. After last night’s revelations, shadow beasts, corrupted runes, venom in my blood, I needed more than steel. I needed magic.I’d been studying some old alchemy notes when I found the recipe hinting at a “Moonroot Elixir,” said to draw out dark taint from soil or flesh. The instructions were incomplete, but better than nothing. I gathered a vial of Moonroot, silvery-blue herbs that only blossomed under a full moon, mixed with ground quartz, dragonfly wings, and a pinch of my own hair as a binding agent. The work was painstaking: precise measurements, careful stirring, hushed incantations beneath my breath. As dawn warmed the room, the potion shimmered in the lantern light. I hesitated, handed it to one of the healers, Diane, who peered at it with wide eyes. “Are you sure?” she asked.I nodded. “It needs

Henry’s POV I woke before dawn, the pre-dawn chill sharpening every breath. The camp was hushed, only the hush of embers in hearthfires and the occasional low whinny of restless horses. I tied my cloak tight around my shoulders and set out toward the forest’s edge. My feet carried me almost unthinkingly, following a call I felt in my bones. This place had always felt alive: the winding roots of ancient pines, the moss-soft earth, the hush of starlight drifting through branches. But this morning, I sensed something else, an undercurrent of unrest deep in the soil, as if the forest itself shivered with an old wound reopening. I stopped where the trees thinned and knelt, pressing my palm into the loamy ground. I closed my eyes, breathing the damp earth up through my nostrils, listening. At first, just the pulse of the forest: beetles in the bark, water trickling under roots, the soft scurry of a vole. Then a faint murmur, like voices too deep to make out. My brow furrowed. “Who’s t

Elijah’s POV I was finishing my morning drills, when Liam found me at the healing hut’s narrow window. He leaned against the frame, arms folded, gaze restless. “Elijah,” he said quietly, “I’ve fought and trained so long… but now, each routine sword drill feels empty. I… I don’t know where to put my strength anymore.” I patted the sword in my hand with a soft touch. “Peace does that to warriors. You’re used to storms, not still air.” He ran a hand through his hair. “Exactly. I tried sparring with Henry, but it’s not the same. I feel dull.” I set aside my sword and pulled on a simple cloak. “Then teach,” I said. “Your strength can guide others.” He raised an eyebrow. “Teach? The youngest, you mean?” I smiled. “They need that spark only a true warrior can kindle. Will you let me train them?” He hesitated, then nodded. “Show me where to start.” That afternoon, I gathered a dozen young wolves in the training yard. Some clutched wooden swords with shaking hands; others simply watc

Leila’s POV The infirmary was the worst place and the best place to heal. Walls of rough stone held jars of salves and shelves of linen, but also the echo of doctors’ soft commands and patients’ labored breaths. Every day I stepped inside, I tried to leave my own scars outside, but some days, the memories clung to me like bandages I couldn’t remove. That morning, the door swung open and a new patient was carried in. Nurses laid her on the highest cot. She was young, maybe nineteen or twenty, with dark hair cut short, and eyes that darted like frightened birds. When she lifted her head, I saw the cruel bruises on her neck, lace-like patterns that spoke of Sebastian’s ceremonial silk. Guilt squeezed my chest. I remembered those bindings all too well, the cold silk that numbed my skin, the way it pressed until I begged for it to stop, and it never would. I swallowed, bending beside her. “I’m Leila.” My voice was steady, though my fingertips itched. “I’ll be your healer.” Her eyes f

  • Three Alphas, One Luna   CHAPTER 87

Liam’s POVThe dawn broke in a silver wash over the training yard, and the world felt impossibly quiet. I stood alone on the wooden platform, the spear in my hand so familiar it felt like an extension of my arm. But today, I hesitated to lift it. My muscles itched to move, to fight, to train as I always had. Instead, the morning breeze brushed against my scars, and I realized how much I missed the clash of blades and the roar of battle. After months of endless war, blasts of magic, the scream of steel, the snap of soldiers underfoot, peace had finally settled like an unexpected guest in our camp. I’d fought to win it. And now that it was here, I wasn’t sure I knew what to do with it.I closed my eyes and lowered the spear butt to the wooden planks. Behind me, Leila’s soft laughter drifted from the healer’s tent. I smiled, a warm twist in my chest. Healing laughter, that sounded right. But the silence around me felt too loud, as if the world waited for me to sharpen my edge again.I sh
