LOGINGemma’s POV
The storm came in so quickly and we didn’t stand a chance. It was a warm afternoon, and sunrays lit up the grounds of the estate as I stood at the balcony in my room, basking in it. It was the first sunny day since I had woken up without my memories. All I had known was gloomy weather that only reflected my bad moods, but now warmth enveloped me in a soft embrace that had me almost leaning over the rail of the balcony just to feel more of iGemma’s POV Once the hysteria of Delilah’s screams ended, there was a sort of calm tension in the air, allowing every corner of the pack house to fall into a state of peaceful and quiet in the midnight hours. Without the swirling red lights flashing above us, the bright fluorescent lights lined the hallway like usual. They had taken the priestess to the very lowest dungeons below. The second floor remained completely still. Lazarus took his large arm and wrapped it around my waist as we walked back up the steps towards the master bedroom. He did not speak during the short walk up, but simply applied constant pressure on my side with his warm hand. I could feel exactly what the pressure was trying to convey, he was holding like he was afraid I’d disappear should he let go for even a second. Unlocking the door to the suite he led me inside quickly, shutting the door behind us and lockin
The loud, piercing chime of the alarm bell rang through the house, vibrating against the walls. Red warning lights flickered along the high ceilings of the top floor corridor, casting an eerie, flashing glow over the dark floorboards. Vincent’s words hung in the air, keeping me rooted to the spot. ‘Delilah has gotten loose into the territory.’ Lazarus spun on his heels, his face was a mask of pure rage, his dark eyes full of fury and a promise of retribution. He turned and placed both of his hands on my shoulders. “You need to listen to what I’m telling you Gemma,” he looked down at me seriously. “I need you to lock this door behind me. No one, not even me, should be able to open this door to get to you unless they use the passcode I am going to give you. Delilah is completely unhinged and she’s after you.” “I’m not hiding in this room crying my eyes out, while the pack house is in disaster,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm eve
Lazarus’s POVI barged through the heavy doors of Gemma’s bedroom, my boots pounded against the wooden floors lining the hallway. The fire in my eyes glowed intently with fury inside of me as I moved forward until I came to a stop in front of the two enforcers. They both quickly straightened and paled at the end of their backs pressed into the wall. “I want to know. Who let them in?” My menacingly rough tone boomed through the space between us as I moved even closer to them. “You were told to do only one thing tonight. To stand guard in-front of these doors and ensure nobody gets anywhere near her. Yet here you stand with a note and white rose placed on her bed!” The one on the left, the one in charge among the two, a young man named Thomas, gulped heavily, his hands shaking by his sides. “I-I forgot my place Alpha, we were here the whole after. No one came down this hallway.” “That means you’r
Gemma’s POVTwo hours of sitting by the bed in the master suite and I couldn’t help but notice how quiet the room suddenly felt. Lazarus had headed down to the bottom floor to deal with the afternoon perimeter reports and I was left alone with my thoughts. The comforting crackle of the fireplace and the unthinkable words Asher said now echoed in my mind. I stared at my hands which felt as if they were still in Lazarus’s grip. I couldn’t sit still anymore.I pushed myself to my feet and slid my oversized grey jumper over my shorts. The two enforcers who were stationed outside of the landing turned as I unlatched the door handle. Unlike previous attempts they made no effort to stop me as I stepped forward. However, they were visibly worried as I confidently strode past them down the wide wooden staircase. The main foyer was lively as various members of the pack waited to go to the laundry rooms, dining hall or backyard. The sound of their chatter and clatteri
Gemma’s POVI sat rigidly perched on the edge of the examination table. My shirt was pulled down around my belly as the grainy ultrasound hummed noisily in my ears. I could still feel cold shivers radiating from the gel left on my skin but a strange heating cascaded within my veins.Lazarus stood, back straight and completely still beside me as his jaw tightened and he stared at the soft black and white screen. His eyes were so wide, they looked like they could pop out of his head.“Explain what you mean, Asher,” Lazarus said, his voice dropping into a low, gravelly register that vibrated through the small room. “How can a baby carry three separate Alpha blood marks? That is physically impossible.”Asher carefully clicked the end of his plastic wand back in the holding slot in the machine. A frown crawled across his face as he used a clean white cloth to wipe his hands a final time. He kept his posture relaxed and his shoulders low, intentionally projecting a calm, steady essence to
Gemma’s POV My boots pounded against the dirt pathway as I ran. My lungs burned from the sprinting but Delilah’s hysterical shrieking had faded behind me within the trees. I couldn’t catch my breath. My vision blurred and I tore away from the main pathway, and rammed into a bunch of high and spiky shrubs. On the other side I saw that I was standing in an open field covered in rows of bright red, orange and the pinks of poppies. Towering oak trees surrounded the place. I dropped down onto my knees in puddles of grass as I placed my palms on the cold ground. My chest jittered wildly and spasmed with erratic breathing. My heart pounded so fast I felt like it would burst right out of my chest. I scrunched up my face as the words came flashing through my mind. ‘You see what you really are, Gemma? You are losing control of yourself and this power is dark and evil and it will only get worse when you have that child.’ My hand lifted up as I brushed my fingers against my face. Tremor
