MARK

Sydney Bowman.

I remembered the name almost immediately!

He was one of my dad’s senior staff members that handled finance and logistics in the company, but when I got back from business school in Toronto, he said that he had fired Sydney.

“What happened, dad?” I had asked him. “I thought he was a very competent staff member,” I had added.

“He was, until I found out that he was stealing from the company,” my dad had told me.

I could rarely believe this because Sydney was one of the men I thought had integrity. My dad even vouched for him several times, just the way he vouched for and trusted Mr. Devon, so I was deeply shocked to hear that he had been fired, and worse, that he was stealing from the company.

“Are you sure? How did you find out?” I had asked him.

“Mr. Devon revealed his treacherous acts,” he had responded.

“Are you sure Mr. Devon didn’t make any mistakes?” I had asked.

“Devon has been working for the company since it was founded, Mark, and you know this. Has he ever

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Termination Of Contract

ALEXAGoing to confront Mark made me even more livid than I had ever been, and as I made my way back to my apartment, the anger in me threatened to explode.I didn’t think I had ever meant it before when I said that I didn’t want to see or speak to Mark Ronaldo ever again, but right now, I meant it.He might try to reach out again like he always did; I was certain of that.“But I won’t allow that to happen anymore,” I told myself firmly. “I am not going to be a fool to him or anyone anymore,” I added.I should have been firmer in cutting him off after he signed the divorce papers, but instead, I had entertained every bit of him, including the times he had hurt and disappointed me greatly. How could I have even had sex with the same man who left me for my stepsister, Ivy, and even cheated on me with her while we were married, and meanwhile, he was treating me poorly the entire time? How could I have done that? The more I thought about it, the more pained and upset I became, and I could

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Her Storm

MARKI only became less worried when I got a call from the cop this morning.“Mr. Mark, she is back to her apartment,” he had told me.I had sighed with deep relief because all night, I was worried sick about Alexa. Even after Vector left, I tried to rest a little, but I just couldn’t.What if Alexa had gone somewhere and hurt herself? What if Donald Shell had gotten to her again?Different thoughts flew through my mind all night, almost making me lose my mind, so much so that by morning, I knew that if I didn’t get dressed and come to my company, I was going to lose it completely.I could be at my company and still be searching for Alexa, and if by mid morning I didn’t find her, I would take things to a more serious extent, but then the cop had called, relieving me of that.“How is she? Does she look fine?” I asked him.“She looks the same, sir,” he responded.I wasn’t surprised by his response because I knew that Alexa would still be hurting from everything that she had gone through

ALEXAI woke up feeling better than I had been the previous day, but Gina wasn’t in bed, and when I turned around, she was getting dressed for work.“Good morning,” she greeted. “Good morning, Gina,” I said, rising from the bed. “I am sorry. I didn’t mean to sleep this late,” I apologized.“You were tossing and turning all night,” Gina said. She was still sounding a little harsh, as though she still didn’t want me to be here, but I pushed that out of my mind. She was like that when I arrived last night, and even till when we slept off, and it didn’t make me leave, so it wouldn’t start making me feel bad, and besides, I would have to leave this morning anyway. I was certain that my secretary would have gotten to my apartment already. However, Gina’s statement made me recall how terrible last night had been.I had thought that being with someone else would keep me from experiencing the dreams, but I was wrong.I had the nightmare again.Donald Shell came taunting me, and it was even w

MARKI paced around my living room floor, worried sick.“You are going to bore a hole through your floor, Mark,” Vector told me.“She is not at her apartment, Vector, and the cop has no idea where she could possibly have gone,” I snapped. “That was his damn job!” I bellowed in annoyance.“Not to upset you, Mark, but his specific job was to watch over her apartment and to ensure that no one came in to harass or assault her,” Vector said. “He only did the right thing by informing you of what he thought,” Vector added.I glared at him.He knew that I didn’t care for his damn opinion in moments like this, and yet, he gave it anyway, making me more upset.“Were you expecting him to follow her around?” Vector asked.“You have just upset me, Vector,” I responded.“I am sorry,” he apologized, raising his hand in surrender like he always did.“If you know you are going to be pissing me off all night, then you might as well leave,” I told Vector.“I am here because you sounded deeply worried ab

  • Till Divorce Do Us Part   Our Pain

ALEXAGina and I stared at each other for a few seconds without saying a word, but I couldn’t stop thinking about what I just saw.Noelle had always been hammering on the uncanny resemblance between Gina and the forgotten actress, but I never paid her any mind.Even when she showed me this exact picture and I had noticed that the younger girl looked like Gina, I hadn’t dwelt on it.Gina’s hair color was different now, and the picture was taken several years ago, so she didn’t look exactly like that anymore, but now, I realized that it was because Gina had changed her looks.“You are Lina Barry’s sister,” I repeated.“No, I am not,” Gina said, snapping. She hadn’t said a single word since, and the first thing she thought to do was deny something that was glaring? The way she even held the picture possessively and tightly to her chest as though it would be taken away from her confirmed my suspicion.“Yes, you are,” I responded firmly. “But how…?” I started to ask, but confusion made my
