Maria Susan, Ned's mother, paced back and forth in her room, her mind consumed by a whirlwind of emotions. The news of Ned meeting with Mark had reached her, and she was seething with anger and frustration. How could he be so foolish? Didn't he understand the danger he was putting himself in?
