My eyes watered, my vision blurred, my mind whirred.

Selena had told me about what she had felt when she was first marked by her mate. It was sharp and painful at first, but then the tingles spread. She felt ecstatic.

But nothing else followed for me.

Sharp pain came after sharp pain as I struggled to rid myself of his tight grip.
