To Love A Beast

He killed them all. It was never in his nature to take any prisoners. He thought nothing of it as he ran his blade across the necks of the young and old. Mercy was for humans and the things he killed were monsters.

The smoke from the gun powder hung in the air heavily as Creed looked over the limp bloodied and battered bodies that lay on the floor. He counted them in his head noting that there was a family of six of these creatures. He stopped at five and then paused and looked to the end of the room.

"There's only five," he said and his brothers looked at the bodies on the floor and began counting in their heads as well. "The man he's," before Creed could get his sentence out a man materialized out of thin air and ran at him. The man's form glowed emitting a blue ominous light and his eyes were white and crazed.

Creed's brothers all moved to help him but the peculiar glowing man paralyzed them with a simple glance, leaving them standing like statues. 

Creed wasn't afraid. He knew how to get himself out of situations like this and if he couldn't he also wasn't afraid to die. He pulled out a long sword from behind him and with a wave of the strange man's hand, the sword fell from Creed's hand and he was bound in wire, levitating off the ground.

"I should kill you!" The strange man screamed. "But I won't. No no no I won't." The man sounded deranged like he was almost talking himself out of killing Creed. He ran a hand down his sunken face as he thought about a way to make Creed feel all the pain he was feeling at the witness of his family's slaughter. "Death is too easy. No, you took my family. My children. My wife!"

Creed wondered what love and care a monster could possess. "They were all monsters like you. You better kill me now because I promise you won't have another chance."

The man laughed. "No no I'm not going to kill you. I'm going to kill everyone you ever loved and I'm going to make you watch as I tear the flesh from off their bones."

Creed smiled. "I have no weaknesses. I don't love anyone."

The man eyed Creed. He raised his hand and touched Creed's head. It was like the man was watching a movie as Creed's life story played over.

"Ah yes, you're an orphan adopted by a barren supernatural huntress. Your adopted mother doesn't even love you, does she? is that why you turned out to be such a little dick was it because she didn't care for you but made you into a weapon!" The man spat and removed his hands.

"Love and care are for narrow-minded creatures!" Creed yelled at the man.

The man thought about a suitable amount of torture for Creed. Creed loved no one and hated monsters. The man smiled and went to a corner in the room.

He searched the shelf of peculiar items kept in jars and his hands landed on a specific jar that looked like it contained wolf teeth.

"You'll tip the scales in my favor whichever path you choose Creed," the man shook out the set of fangs from the jar.

Creed's eyes widened and he could feel the sweat begin to form. He struggled against his invisible restraints and the man moved swiftly and pierced Creed on the arm with the fangs.

Creed cussed and yelled as the fangs tore and closed around his flesh. He could feel the sting of the venom entering his bloodstream and his heartbeat accelerated.

"I'll tell you what Creed I'll give you an option. Choose your punishment. It's either you become a beast by the next full moon and get hunted and slaughtered by your own people or you fall in love, break the curse and watch me snap your happiness away from you before I snap your neck."

Creed writhed in pain as the venom made course for his heart. Thick layers of sweat covered his face and neck, his veins bulged as the venom flowed freely through his veins.

His eyes began to flash from green to black. It was unlike any pain he had ever felt before and then the venom reached his heart and the pain stopped. Creed panted hard as if he had just run a hundred meters. 

He calmed his staggering breath noting that there was something different in him. In his thoughts, there was something very wrong in him and then it let out a howl making its presence known as the sound vibrated off the walls shaking the vicinity.

With a snap of the man's fingers, Creed hit the ground face first in a thud. "You know the thing I like about wolves Creed," the man bellowed in deep laughter satisfied with his plan, "they mate for life, and when their mate dies so do they on the inside at first and then all together." Creed groaned and moved to stand up ready to square off with the man and tell him that he could fuck off but the strange man was gone as soon as Creed got to his feet.

"Creed are you okay?" His brothers surrounded him all at once but Creed only stared at the spot the man once stood. The ultimatum had been made either way Creed was going to die. He could either die a beast or a human. The decision was his to make.
