I panted as I tried to keep up with Hera. We were running along a trail in the forest. It was a part of my training to strengthen my core. According to the other wolves, if I exercised regularly and stretched the shift wouldn't be that hard on my body. "Keep up Luna," Hera said running ahead of me and I stopped to grab a drink from my water bottle.
My muscles were sore, we had been training and strengthening my core for the past week. I was exhausted and all I longed for was a pillow and a blanket. At this point I wasn't fussy I'd sleep where I dropped.
I removed my shirt that was drenched in sweat and Hera's eyes widened. "The alpha has marked you as his mate," she grinned causing me to choke on my water. I was very careful the past week in hiding my mark. In a moment of exhaustion, I had forgotten.
"What, what are you talking about?" I stuttered in an attempt to act as if I didn't know what she was talking about and a cheeky smile overtook her face

I woke up with my head throbbing as if someone had whacked me with a baseball bat over it last night. I looked around the dark room my eyes adjusting to the minimal lighting. A week had passed with everyone falling into a comfortable routine. I sat outside with May and Mia while I watched them play peekaboo. A few months later and our packhouse was rebuilt even bigger and stronger than before. We were lucky that the previous Alpha had a lot of assets and money in private accounts which helped us rebuild.Creed had done what his brothers asked and turned them into wolves. He killed them all. It was never in his nature to take any prisoners. He thought nothing of it as he ran his blade across the necks of the young and old. Mercy was for humans and the things he killed were monsters.The smoke from the gun powder hung in the air heavily as Creed looked over the limp bloodied and battered bodies that lay on the floor. He counted them in his head noting that there was a family of six of these creatures. It was unusually quiet at the diner due to the relentless storm that raged on outside.
