I gripped the steering wheel tightly with my eyes fixed on the road. Travis Scott’s cars were just about a few cars away from mine. My heart pounded in my chest as I trailed behind. I had to maintain a safe distance, or else I would be easily noticed by Travis Scott's guards. I couldn't afford to blow up this opportunity.

After about a thirty-minute drive, the cars drove off the highway. I became more cautious, maintaining my distance.

We drove down a tarred road, and soon the cars came to a halt in front of a gigantic gate. It seemed to be an entrance into an estate. I pulled over and watched from a distance.

The gates opened up and the cars drove in. As soon as the last car drove in, the gates were shut

I popped out my car keys and kept them safely in the backpack slung on my back.

Slowly and cautiously, I made my way towards the gates. It was quiet and serene; there was no one at the gates.

When I got to the gates, I tried to peep in, but I couldn't see a thing. I banged hard, but the sturdy gates did not produce any sound. Frustrated, I marched around it not knowing what to do.

Suddenly, an alarm blared off. It took me by surprise and I jumped.

There was a clicking sound and after that, the gates opened up. The grunt-looking guards walked out, their eyes spitting fire.

“Who are you, and what did you want?” One asked.

“I am Selina Morrison.”

The second one scoffed and raised his brows, “What do you want?” He asked.

“I seek an audience with your boss, Travis Scott.”

The guards looked at each other and seized me up from head to toe. They scoffed but one finally asked. “Do you have an appointment? Where is your pass?”

“No, I don't have an appointment and I don't have a pass, but I need to see him… it's urgent. He just left Morrison…”

“Go back,” one cut in, and the two of them turned back in.

“I'm not leaving until I meet him,” I yelled but none of them responded, they were already walking in through the gates.

No way! I can't miss this chance! I have to get in.

With a few long strides, I closed the distance between us and pulled the one closest to me.

“What's your deal?” Before he could cough out more words, I flipped him over my shoulders.

As he crashed on the ground, the eyes of the second one widened. He rushed at me, but I pushed the one on the ground his way and he tripped on him. Both of them collided and groaned as they crashed hard on the floor. But they were back to their feet in a flash of a second.

Impressive! I spat, jerking my head sideways. I began to move backwards baiting them to come at me one after the other

The first one came and I landed a quick kick to his stomach, sending him crashing into the nearby trash cans. The second one swung a wild punch, but I dodged it and sent a precise jab to his jaw.

As he swooped around in pain, the second  one regained his balance and charged at me again.

I balled my hands ready to tackle him. But before he got to me, a loud command came from inside.

“Stop!”

My attackers stopped immediately. They retracted from me, giving me a distasteful glare.

“Will they allow me in now?”

Thousands of possibilities ran through my head and I fiddled with the backpack slug behind me.

A guard walked out of the gates and had a word with the two guards. When they were done, the guards glared at me with disdain.

“Come on in, you are invited in,” one of them gritted, cleaning the sweet on his forehead.

Yikes! I screamed, jumping on my feet.

Travis' POVI leaned back in the swivel chair as the late morning sun sliced across the desk. There were a few files awaiting my signature. One of the documents with the title, 'Proposal for Merger’ caught my attention. A company was going under and wanted to survive by merging with one of my companies. “Let's see if it is worth saving.” I hummed and picked up the file.I flipped through a few pages and dropped the file. The company was beyond salvation. I couldn't allow such a merger.‘Denied’. I clipped a label on top of the file and moved on to the next one.I should have suggested a merger to Selina. Why did I accept her ridiculous offer? I thought.“We had a deal. She would give me an heir… it wasn't a bad deal after all,” I reassured myself, but Selina's cold voice from the previous night rang in my head, “Not tonight, I am tired.” Was she really tired? Or did she just say that to turn me away? It wasn't a plea. She was intentional, it was final. It was like a slap on my face.

Selina's PovThe silence in the car felt louder than the boardroom.I’d won, but it didn’t feel like a victory. Not yet. Not when I could still hear Max’s voice echoing in the room, trying to twist the truth, trying to weaponize the very thing he should be ashamed of.Even the pride of firing him didn’t settle right. I had expected resistance, but not that kind of twist. Not from him, not from his mother. The rage inside me simmered under the surface, but beneath it was something colder. Shock, and a quiet kind of disbelief that made me swear to repay them for all they did to me.I sat still, eyes unfocused. The events of the last hour spun like broken glass in my mind. Travis' POVI leaned back in my seat, watching Selina as the boardroom drama unfolded.Max’s move was dirty. He was a subtle man and his move wasn't unexpected, but it still took me off guard. How could he?I recognised the video immediately, but I couldn't believe that he edited it and used it against Selina. My blood boiled and I almost stood up against him, but I stopped. Yes, I wasn't here to get reeled up in sibling rivalry. And it would be interesting to see how Selina navigates her way to the top without my help. If she lost her position as the chairwoman, then she didn't merit my help.I watched with fascination as Selina turned Max's accusations to victory. She is unstoppable, I muttered to myself.Things became more interesting when Selina fired Max. I must say, it was a dangerous move and I didn't see it coming.Max's face turned ashen with rage. He didn't expect it either. He couldn't hide his shock. He rose to his feet and wanted to charge at Selina, but his mother held

Selina's PovEveryone, except Max and Mrs Silver, rose to their feet.Travis walked in like a king and took his seat. Everyone sat down after he was seated. The doubt and disinterest in their eyes fell away. They looked up at Travis with expectation. With a smile, I turned around to continue but a sharp spaced-out clapping erupted behind me. It was a slow, measured, mocking, clap.I turned only to find Max on his feet. He was the one who clapped.“Well played! Scripted! I thought you well,” he said, his voice smooth like oil on water. What the heck is he trying to do? I ignored him and continued with the meeting.“We will operate under a new era of transparency, integrity, and innovation. I am not here to make enemies. But I won’t tolerate corruption, sabotage, or…”“...Or unstable leadership?” Max’s voice sliced through my words like a razor. My jaws tightened. “Excuse me?”Max leaned forward, eyes sparkling like he’d been waiting for this moment. He reached into a leather folio and

  • Tomboy on the Billionaire's bed   Chapter 17

SelinaThe boardroom gleamed with tension so thick like fog. Around the boardroom table sat Morrison Brewery’s most powerful minds. They were all murmuring among themselves about the purpose of the urgent meeting. The chairman's seat was left empty. My father, the supposed chairman, sat midway down the table and I was sitting next to him.I wore a charcoal grey suit with my hair in a bun. My gaze remained unreadable as everyone stared at my father and the empty chairman's seat.At the far end of the table sat Max, and his mother. Max was composed yet casual. His arm slung over the back of his chair like he was waiting for a show to start. We locked eyes and I remembered his threats. My mind skipped a beat not because of his threats but because of my traumatic past and how he could use it against me.Well, I didn't come all the way to dance to his tunes. If he thinks I will back down easily, he has just made a mistake. I am here to take back my father's company and crush them all.Mrs
