Lydia POV

Dr. Sana’s smile became almost mischievous.

“Homework.”

I groaned.

“Of course.”

She reached for a sheet of paper and slid it across the table.

At the top, she wrote:

DAVE vs. THEO

I stared at it.

“Oh my God.”

“Relax. This isn’t a BuzzFeed quiz.”

“It looks exactly like one.”

“It isn’t about scoring who buys better gifts.”

“Good.”

“Or who is more handsome.”

I raised my eyebrows.

“That wasn’t going to be my metric.”

She gave me a look.

“Lydia.”

“Fine.”

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   That’s therapy!

She noticed. “Good question, isn’t

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   The therapist thing.

Lydia POV “He’s new.” “That’s it?” “Not exactly.” She shook her head. “Newness matters, Lydia. Novelty can make someone feel unusually exciting because you’re discovering them. You haven’t accumulated the ordinary parts yet.” I frowned. “The annoying parts.” “Exactly. The boring Tuesdays. The bad moods. The disagreements. The responsibilities. The disappointments.” I thought about Theo. The dinners. The teasing. The comedy show. The way he looked at me. The way he had sent flowers and an expensive bag. The way he had shown up at my house with Anna’s pickles. The side hug. My stomach did something irritating. Dr. Sana caught it. “You like him.” I sighed. “I do.” “That’s okay.” “I feel guilty.” “That’s the part I want us to examine.” She placed her cup down. “Guilt doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve done something wrong.” I looked at her. “It can mean you’ve violated a value. But it can also appear when you believe you might be violating an expectation, even when

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   He’s different

Lydia POV The moment I stepped into Dr. Sana’s office, she looked up from her laptop and smiled. “Ah. PR girl.” I dropped my handbag onto the chair beside me. “Please, don’t call me that. I am actively losing my mind, and you’re talking to me like I’m a teenager who just got caught sneaking out.” She laughed. “Good morning to you too, Lydia.” “Good morning. Now please, can we get straight to it?” She gestured toward the sofa. “Sit.” I sat down, crossing one leg over the other. Dr. Sana studied me for a moment. Then she reached toward the little tray beside her. “Oh, before we begin, I have something for you.” I narrowed my eyes. “That sounds suspicious.” “It isn’t.” She lifted a small packet. “One of my clients brought this back for me. Apparently, it’s tea from an island somewhere in the mountains. It’s not commercially available, apparently.” I stared at her. “An island in the mountains?” “Yes.” “That’s already confusing.” “Just try it.” She began preparing i

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   Urgent dilemma

Lydia POVMy alarm went off at 6:32 a.m.I opened one eye. Then the other. For approximately three seconds, I considered pretending I hadn’t heard it.Then I remembered.Dr. Sana.Eight a.m.Urgent dilemma.I groaned and rolled onto my back, staring at the ceiling.“Adulthood is such a scam.”I finally dragged myself out of bed.The bathroom light was almost offensive after the darkness of my room. I squinted at my reflection, tied my hair back, and reached for my cleanser. If I was going to sit in front of a therapist and unpack my entire emotional life before breakfast, at least my skin was going to look expensive.I splashed warm water over my face before working the cleanser between my palms. Gentle circular motions. Forehead. Cheeks. Nose. Chin. I rinsed, patted my face dry with a soft towel, and immediately reached for my toner.A few drops into my palms.Press.Pat.Press.Pat.Then came my essence, followed by my favorite Korean serum.I tilted the bottle.Nothing.I tilted it

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   Honest answer

Lydia POV “That’s actually accurate.” I laughed so hard I had to hold my stomach. The comedian wasn’t even finished. “And why do women ask questions they already know the answer to?” He looked around dramatically. “Ladies, you know what I’m talking about.” The women in the audience started screaming. He continued. “You ask, ‘Where were you?’ He pauses. “He says, ‘At work.’ And you say, ‘Interesting.’ Interesting?!” I completely lost it. The audience was roaring. Theo was laughing beside me, his shoulders shaking. I leaned into my chair, tears rolling down my cheeks. I couldn’t remember the last time I had laughed like that. Not the polite laugh I gave clients. Not the little laugh I gave when Anna said something ridiculous. Not the tired laugh I gave my children when they did something stupid. This was different. My stomach hurt. My cheeks hurt. My eyes were watering. At one point, I was literally wiping tears from my face while Theo looked at me like I had l

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   The Laugh

Lydia POVI almost didn’t go.That was the first thing I told myself as I stood in front of my wardrobe that evening, staring at the ridiculous number of clothes I owned while somehow convincing myself that I had absolutely nothing to wear. The comedy tickets were still sitting on my dresser. Two tickets. Two seats.A night away from work.A night away from the children.A night where nobody needed me to fix a crisis, answer an email, mediate an argument, or explain why an influencer sleeping with her best friend’s husband was somehow my problem to solve. And, apparently, a night with Theo.I picked up one of the tickets and stared at it.“You’re making this too complicated,” I muttered to myself.I was.So I stopped thinking.I chose a simple black dress, paired it with heels and a small bag, did my makeup, and left. The moment I arrived at the venue, I realized just how long it had been since I’d done something like this. There was a crowd outside, people standing in little groups,

Lydia POV“You’re getting married to Dave Ashton tomorrow by eight a.m.”Those were the words that ended my life as I knew it.One sentence. One Tuesday evening. One announcement delivered with the same emotional weight my father would have used to ask someone to pass the salt. For a moment, I hone

Bernard stepped in, hands clasped neatly in front of him.“I apologize for disturbing you, ma’am. I came by earlier, but there was no response.”I rubbed my eyes. “I was asleep.”“Yes, ma’am.”He said it so respectfully that I almost felt bad for sounding irritated.Almost.“Would you like dinner?”

  • Too Late To Love Me: I Already Left With His Twins   Chapter 5

Lydia’s POVThe inside of the house was even worse than the outside.Worse, because now I had to physically stand inside it and accept that this was where I was expected to live. The space swallowed me the second I stepped in.The entrance opened into a massive living area with floors so polished I

Lydia I turned. He was standing a few feet away now, hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable. There was no softness in his face.Just cool detachment. The kind that made the evening breeze feel warmer by comparison. For the first time since he arrived, he looked directly at me and held the
