THE sleek black Toyota Glanza gently and slowly drove into the driveway, then parked at the parking space. Ryan was behind the wheels as he navigated turns. Amelia sitting beside him was agitated, her eyes widened as she looked around.

“Ryan. Hold on, are you sure we are in the right place?” She asked, still looking out the car window. She could see the tall building right in front of her, the green shrubs and beautiful flowers planted around and some other notable stuffs, and it was no doubting, she knew this place, one place she didn't want to be.

“Yes, ma'am. This is where the meeting is to be held,” Ryan replied.

“Oh my!” She gasped.

“Is anything the matter?”

“Why didn't you tell me, Ryan? Why didn't you?” She was looking at him.

He was quite shocked and befuddled.

“What… do you mean, ma'am?”

She opened her mouth to speak but immediately, the sharp shrill cry of one of the babies behind her rudely cut her short, and she weakened instantly, turning back.

AMELIA placed the neatly packed bag on the counter and pushed it toward him. Her fingers were stiff, her expression unreadable. His eyes turned soft, and he simply said.“For you.”Her heart skipped, but pride surged faster. She recoiled as though he had handed her a live wire.“Do you even hear yourself, Adrian? You humiliated me, broke me, and now you think a bag of clothes is going to— what? Undo everything? Make me melt?”“It is not just clothes. It is… it is me trying, Amelia. Trying to reach you again.”“Reach me? With a purchase receipt?” she snapped, then shoved the bag back toward him.“Take your so-called gift and leave. I don’t want it. And I don’t want you hovering around my life pretending this is some grand gesture. It is embarrassing.”His jaw tightened.“Embarrassing? No, Amelia. What is embarrassing is that you would rather keep me at arm’s length than admit you still care. I see it in your eyes, you are still fighting me, not because you don’t feel anything, but beca

THE bell above the boutique door chimed, a soft note announcing the entry of another customer. Satin & Sage was bustling as usual, that afternoon, the faint scent of roses from the display corner mixing with polished wood and designer perfumes. Behind the counter, two sales representatives were busy attending to customers when a tall man in a navy-blue suit and dark sunglasses walked in, his aura too commanding to be ignored.“Good afternoon, sir,” one of the reps beamed, her professional smile wide. “Welcome to Satin & Sage. How may I help you today?”The man’s lips curved in a faint, knowing smirk. His voice was deep, familiar, deliberate.“I would like to see your CEO.”The rep blinked in surprise, then chuckled politely. “Sir, I assure you I can help with anything you need. Our CEO is very busy at the moment.”“I insist,” he said smoothly, removing his glasses. The weight in his eyes made her pause. “I only want the CEO. I want to make a huge purchase.”The sales rep hesitated, t

ADRIAN sat behind his desk, the city lights spilling in through the tall glass windows of his office. The night was alive outside, but his thoughts were consumed within. Peter stood before him, a tablet in hand, scrolling carefully as he spoke.“You asked me to gather details on your wife's business ventures,” Peter began. “Well… it is more than just Satin & Sage now.”Adrian’s eyes lifted sharply. “What do you mean, more?”Peter cleared his throat, showing him the list. “She has expanded. There is Ames Roses, a high-end flower boutique that has become something of a hotspot for both weddings and corporate events. Then there is Azure Springs Resort, a luxury getaway that is already receiving glowing reviews and pulling in dignitaries from out of state. Not to mention her partnerships with smaller fashion brands, quietly gaining traction.”Adrian leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table as his gaze devoured the details. Each word seemed to strike him deeper.“She… she built al

THE room was quiet, too quiet, except for the steady tick of the clock on the nightstand. Amelia lay sprawled on her side, her eyes fixed on the ceiling though the lamp had long been switched off. The sheets tangled around her legs felt heavy, suffocating.Every time she closed her eyes, his face appeared. Adrian’s expression at the board meeting, the shock, the silence, the way his gaze clung to her like a shadow. It replayed over and over, as if her mind refused to let her rest. She shifted, punching the pillow beneath her head. It was no use. Her chest tightened with unspoken emotions, emotions of anger, hurt, but also something far more dangerous: the faint ache of old memories, the ones she thought she had buried.Rolling onto her back, Amelia pressed the heel of her palm against her forehead, whispering to the darkness, ‘Why now? Why did he have to come back now?’But the silence gave no answer, and still her heart raced as if it, too, was wide awake.***Adrian hadn’t slept wel

SOON, night came. The twins were finally asleep, their soft rhythmic breaths filling the nursery. Amelia lingered by their cribs for a moment longer, her hand brushing over their tiny blankets before she quietly slipped back into her room. The house was silent except for the faint hum of the night insects outside. But inside her mind, it was anything but quiet. She sat by her dresser, the warm lamplight casting a soft glow on her features. Removing her earrings one by one, Amelia caught her reflection in the mirror and froze. The image staring back wasn’t the Amelia of months ago, that fragile, broken, unsure Amelia. No. This was a woman transformed. Impeccable. Grounded. A mother twice over, a businesswoman with empires thriving under her hand.Yet the events of the day replayed like a broken record.Adrian’s eyes widening the moment she walked into the boardroom. The way his voice trembled when he attempted to speak, as though his words were betraying his heart. And then, the shock

THE hum of the city outside faded into the background as Amelia Cole stepped into her office at Satin & Sage. The glass walls reflected her poise, her stride as sharp as the clicking of her heels across the polished marble floor. Gone was the weary woman of sleepless nights and silent tears, of course, months ago, this Amelia was sculpted by fire. Confident, sophisticated and untouchable.Ryan followed closely, balancing his tablet and a slim file, his usual calm demeanor intact. He knew her well enough to recognize that the slight stiffness in her shoulders meant she was holding something back.Amelia dropped her bag on the desk with measured grace, but her eyes, usually so composed, narrowed as she turned to face him.“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked, her voice cool but carrying the weight of accusation.Ryan looked up from the file, puzzled. “Tell you what?”“Where the board meeting was being held,” she pressed, her tone tightening. “You knew it was at Cole’s Holdings, Ryan. Yo
