Coincidence

Despair and fear ruled over her and she started to run. Sarah took the way in front of her and kept on running, although she had no idea where she was heading. Her vision started to blur by the frightening tears and her limbs felt like jelly. Her head bent down. Sarah suddenly ran into a wall of bricks, stumbling back. Luckily, she retrieved her balance seconds before she fell down.

''Ah,'' a small cry escaped her lips as her eyes focused in and she looked in front of her. A gasp instantly escaped her. Her eyes widened in its saucers.

To her terror, she found out, it wasn't a wall of bricks that she ran into but a wall of chest!

Sarah’s heart started to accelerate to such an extent that she was able to hear the beating in her ears. Her throat ran dry, her limbs turned weak. And when she raised her head, her big blue eyes crashed into a pair of silver grey ones! Her whole world froze.

Frowning grey eyes, a long straight nose which was inhaling deeply, a thin irritated mouth, clenched jaws coated with a subtle of thin layer of beard and the dark black as mid-night hair was ruffled.

Sarah’s mind was still processing the nature of this creature in front of her when the latter broke in a voice which felt like the roar of an angry thunder, shaking her inside.

''What are you doing here?!'' The creature asked, his voice raw with irritation.

Instinctively, Sarah took a step back yet still tried to answer.

''I-I-m...'' She was so terrified that she couldn't utter a single word, let alone breathe!

It was clear as water that she encountered a gangster or a thief and he was undoubtedly someone very dangerous. Sarah could feel the dangerous aura around him. And she was proven right the very next minute when he spoke again,

''Don't you know this is a dangerous place to stroll?!''

Before she could blink and think, Sarah heard a gunshot behind him. She jolted then gasped in terror, her hands flying to her thudding heart. In matter of a second, before she could react, she was dragged by the stranger in the same way she came back earlier. Although she was weak with fear and her knees were jelly, Sarah couldn't stop running as he was dragging her along and he was running very fast! Following behind them, was a gang of gangsters, in chasing mode. It was then dawned upon her that, from now on, her life would never be the same. The terrifying journey has begun and the ending was a very long distance ahead.

After some long minutes, to her dismay Sarah found herself in this creepy and horror house, the same building she was running away from!

Huge spider webs, weeds and rainwater could be seen everywhere and the ground was very slippery. The atmosphere was terrifying and it smelled really bad but regardless of this, she was ruthlessly pushed behind a broken table and the macho man ordered her,

''Stay here and don't move. I will come back to you later.”

Without waiting for an answer, he returned back to the entrance of the building, where three big men with guns and knives made their appearance.

Hidden behind the table, Sarah could clearly see what was happening. The three men were facing the stranger and the latter had his back turned to her. Sarah gulped down the lump in her throat and beads of sweats formed on her forehead as she felt the tension in the room. Even before the man in front of him raised his punch, the stranger punched him cruelly in the chest and the latter went flying outside. With a muted cry, Sarah’s hands flew to her mouth and she stared at the scene in terror. But the worst was yet to come. Immediately, another man bounced on him and in return, the stranger hit him in the ribs with his elbow. Grabbing a handful of his hair, he pulled him down and kicked him hard in his face. Seconds later, the body laid lifeless on the floor.

Sarah’s heart pounded alarmingly with an uncontrollable fear as she was extremely shocked! Never in her life had she witnessed something so cruel and murderous. Yes, she had watched several action movies and she really liked them but witnessing something like this in real life was so traumatizing and terrifying! But what came afterward was more shocking. She had to cover her mouth with both her shaking hands, preventing herself from screaming. The last man removed his gun and right before he pressed the trigger, the stranger knocked out his wrist. When he let go of the gun with a cry, he took it and without any hesitation, shot the man directly in his heart!

Two men laid lifeless by his feet and one was outside. Without blinking, he threw the gun on the dead body and advanced towards Sarah’s hiding spot.

He had a big muscular body and this explained the fact that he sent that man flying outside. The stranger really was a merciless person, not a person but he was the devil himself! He just killed three persons and he came back, walking with such confidence as if he just won the world cup trophy!

Sarah’s big eyes were wider than usual and so was her mouth, wide open. Terror and fear blanched her face and as he was approaching, she had to forcefully close her mouth. She gulped fearfully to ease the growing knots and dryness in her throat. She was even more tensed because she couldn’t see his facial expression as his body was blocking the light. She swallowed again as he spoke,

''You can come out. It's safer now.''

Safer? Sarah screamed mentally. She witnessed him murdering all these people and he said safer?! Expectedly, Sarah didn't move an inch. She could not. Noticing her reluctance and terrified face, he then said in a calmer tone this time,

''Come out, I won't hurt you. I don't hurt innocent people.''

Left with no choice, Sarah took her decision and decided to face her fate. Hesitantly, she came out behind the table with her heart hammering in her ears. In the light, she could see blood stained on his shirt. Sarah quickly dragged her eyes from there as she started to feel nauseous at the sight of blood.

To break the tensed silence, he asked,

''Where do you live? What were you doing here?”

''Hm- I- lost my way and...I- I don't know the address where I live...''

Truthfully and sadly Sarah didn't know her sister's address. She never bothered herself remembering name of towns and so on. She knew nothing about California except that she had a brother in law here and her sister's home was here.

''You don't know?!'' He echoed sharply in disbelief which Sarah mistook as anger.

Still in a state of shock, Sarah winced and took a step back, unconsciously knocked her head against a broken frame. The next moment, she saw black and fell into a deep unconsciousness.
