"Let me know when you get any news. Thank you," I ended the call and threw the phone. I had instructed my private investigator to research Evelyn's factory contractors. The door burst open, revealing a nervous Harold. "Master!" he exclaimed, panting.

"What is it? Why do you always come in unannounced? I gave you a task to do," I snapped.

"This is much more than a task, Master. Evelyn is here," he said, his voice trembling.

"What!" I jolted up. "What is she doing here?"

"I don't have all the details yet, but I saw her entering your mother's part of the house," Harold replied. I clenched my fist. What is she playing at? I grabbed my phone, slipped it into my pocket, and headed out.

As I pushed open the door to my mother's living room, I was met with the sight of Evelyn and my mother laughing. "What is going on here?" I demanded, getting their attention.

"Lucian, you're here," my mother greeted, while Evelyn wore a smile. One that infuriated me.
