CHAPTER 3: His Betrayal

last update publish date: 2025-06-22 03:06:12

Nora POV

I stood rooted to the ground, at a loss of what to say. I fixed my eyes on the ground, unable to look at him and to prevent him from discovering my trembling sight.

Tyler frowned when I didn't say a word. He pushed me back into the room and came into contact with my mother. He eyed us before asking, "What are you doing here?"

"Ehm…" I struggled to find the right excuse to give. "I'm a nurse here… I mistakenly entered the wrong room."

"Oh! And the woman?"

"She is my patient." I lied and fortunately, my mum didn't say a word.

"Take her to the toilet." He commanded and I had no choice but to do that.

Tyler switched on the bedside lamp, and the moment he saw my face, he was momentarily stunned, falling into silence.

Just as I was getting more nervous, he suddenly smirked. "Well, that works out. I need someone to check my wound."

With that, he casually pulled open his shirt, revealing his broad shoulder. The wound wasn't deep, but under the dim light, the blood smeared across his skin making him look both dangerous and alluring.

I cursed my bad luck inwardly but had no choice but to approach, my heart pounding. I took the medical kit I saw in the drawer and gently made my way to him.

The moment my fingers touched his, I noticed him shiver at my touch and raised my head to him but quickly lowered it back. It was hard for me to read his emotions but I sensed something different from him.

"Start here," he pointed at the wound right below his lips, his gaze provocative. I moved closer to him, our faces an inch away from each other. I could feel his breath on my face as I tried to treat the wound.

As he watched me, the warmth in his gaze made my heart beat just a little faster. Slowly, he reached out, brushed a loose strand of hair from my face, and tucked it gently behind my ear.

I swallowed hard. "Sir…"

But he paid no heed to me, his hand lingering against my cheek. "Yeah?"

I leaned into his touch without thinking, my eyes meeting his. The air grew heavier, charged with something neither of us could deny any longer.

When he shifted closer, my breath hitched.

His lips met mine in a slow, lingering kiss. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me onto his lap, and I melted into his warmth.

Just when I thought we were about to dive deeper, he put an end to it and pulled away. Flustered, I prepared to make my escape when gunshots suddenly rang out from outside.

The door was kicked open, and a bulky man entered. "It's handled. Those pests outside are all dead."

I looked at the man, then at Tyler, and back to the man. What did he mean by that? Is he one of those…

My fear intensified and I realized I had stumbled into something much bigger than I could handle.

Leaning back lazily, Tyler chuckled. "Looks like you're lucky. You walked into the right room."

I recoiled in fear and instantly declared, "I'm blind. I didn't see anything. I don't know anything."

Tyler laughed but didn't expose my lie. Instead, he signaled for his men to bring someone in while motioning for me to step aside.

Landon was dragged into the room, still shouting, "I'm Darius's favorite son! Who the hell are you? If you touch me, my father will make you pay!"

I watched as the scene unfolded before me. Fortunately, the lamp made me see it clearly but I was not easily spotted by Landon.

"Your people are all dead." Tyler roared as Landon was forced to his knees.

"What do you want?" Landon's voice was barely a whisper.

"Do you think you still have the right to ask that?"

Landon didn't dare respond.

Tyler smirked at Landon's downcast expression. "Consider this payback. Your father's medicine shipment is overdue. I had no choice but to come collect."

"That has nothing to do with me! I had no idea what my father was doing—"

"No idea? Weren't you just boasting about being your father's favorite son?"

Landon panicked as he looked at Tyler's ghastly face. "Maybe I should just kill you. Send your father a little message?"

"No, no! Please! I'll do anything! I swear I…my father will honor any deal from now on!"

Tyler paused, attempting to think about it for a while. "You think I'd believe you? The best I can do is keep your life. But since your father can't keep his word, I'll just take his most precious son away as my hostage. Before every transaction, I'll send him pictures of your 'situation'—see if he still dared to cross us."

Landon turned ghostly pale, already imagining the torture he'd suffer. Desperate, he suddenly had a stroke of genius.

"Wait! You're misunderstanding! My father's real favorite child isn't me—it's my sister! Nora. Take her instead! She's a woman, she's worth far more than I am, she could do more…" He looked in the direction where I was seated.

Tyler glanced at me, his expression unreadable while I felt as though I had fallen into an abyss of ice. How had Landon seen me?

TYLER'S POVI stood in the hallway outside Nora's room, my fist clenched at my side. The black rose and the note. Someone had been in her room without my knowledge. That could not happen. Not in my house. Not under my watch.I turned and walked down the stairs, my footsteps heavy on the marble. The elders would be waiting in the meeting room. They always waited when something unexpected happened. And bringing Nora home had been very unexpected.I pushed open the doors to the private meeting room. Five faces turned toward me. The gang elders. Men and women who had served my family for decades.Adrian sat at the head of the table, his fingers steepled under his chin. He was the oldest and the most cunning. Nothing escaped his notice."Tyler." He nodded at me. "We need to talk."I closed the doors behind me and took my seat. "About what?""About the woman you brought home." Clara leaned forward, her sharp eyes studying my face. "You called her your wife.""That is correct.""Since when d

NORA'S POVI stared at the wedding dress, my hands still clutching the note. Wear this tomorrow. The words blurred as tears filled my eyes.I reached out and touched the fabric again, this time noticing the details. The lace was old. Not old in a worn way, but vintage. Delicate and yellowed slightly at the edges. This was not a new dress. This was Isabella's dress. The dress she would have worn to marry Tyler. The dress that never made it to a wedding. And now he wanted me to wear it.My stomach turned. I stepped back from the closet, my breath coming in short bursts. I could not do this. I could not pretend to be her.But what choice did I have? The contract bound me to Tyler. I was his possession now. If he wanted me to wear a dead woman's wedding dress, I had no power to refuse.I forced myself to look around the room again. Really look this time. The vanity caught my attention. I walked over to it and sat down on the velvet stool. The mirror reflected my pale face at me, making me

NORA'S POVI could not let her walk away. Not after what she had just said. I hurried out of the room, my feet moving before my mind could catch up."Wait!" I called out, my voice echoing down the empty hallway.Lily stopped but did not turn around. Her shoulders tensed like she was bracing herself for something painful.I caught up to her, slightly out of breath. "Please. You cannot just say something like that and leave."She glanced over her shoulder, her eyes darting left and right. "I should not have said anything.""But you did." I stepped closer, lowering my voice. "Who are you talking about? Who do I look like?"Lily's face crumpled with worry. She looked like she wanted to run, but something kept her rooted in place. "Not here," she whispered. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me down the corridor. We turned a corner and she pushed open a door I had not noticed before. The room inside was small and dark, filled with cleaning supplies and old furniture.Lily shut the door behind

NORA'S POVMy fingers trembled as I reached for the drawer again. I knew I should not be looking through Tyler's things, but I could not stop myself. The woman in the photograph haunted me.I pulled the drawer open fully this time. More photographs spilled into view, each one showing the same beautiful woman. She had dark hair that fell in waves past her shoulders. Her smile was warm and genuine. But it was her eyes that made my stomach drop. They were the exact shape as mine. The same curve to her cheekbones. The same delicate arch to her eyebrows. We could have been twins.I picked up another photograph. This one showed her in a flowing white dress, standing in a garden filled with roses. Sunlight caught in her hair, making it shine like silk. She looked happy. Carefree. Everything I would never be.The next photograph made my breath cease. The woman stood beside Tyler, but he looked different. Younger. His face was softer, without the hard edges I had come to know. His arm wrapped

  • Traded to the Mafia Lord: Falling for him   CHAPTER 6: The Contract

NORA'S POVTyler's hand wrapped around my wrist as he pulled me away from the crowd of elders. Their stares burned into my back, but I had no strength left to care what they thought of me.He led me through a marble hallway that seemed to stretch forever. My feet ached with each step, but I forced myself to keep up with his long strides. The walls were lined with expensive art that I could barely make out in my unreliable vision. We stopped at a heavy wooden door. Tyler pushed it open and gestured for me to enter. I hesitated, before stepping into what appeared to be his private study. The room smelled of leather and cedar. Dark bookshelves lined the walls, filled with volumes I would never have time to read. A massive desk was in the center, polished to a mirror shine.Tyler walked to the desk and dropped a folder he had been holding. The same contract Landon had signed. My stomach twisted into knots as he laid it flat on the surface between us."Sit," he commanded, his voice leaving

Never in a lifetime had I thought that I would hear my mother's voice clear and sharp again. But all I saw was an old fragile and frail woman back in her confused, delusional state. I turned back bitter and dejected, the only string of hope I had was lost. How could I have imagined that my mother would be lucid again?I was now at the mercy of a stranger. Who I believed had a hand in the underworld—I was a hundred percent sure. That did not amaze me, after all, I just discovered the hidden identity and operations of Darius, Landon's father.Tyler's men dragged me out of the room, doing the same with my mother. "Please be careful with her. She is very weak." I pleaded as we walked out."And wear her coat." I screamed again.Landon collapsed on the bed when it was just him.
