Prologue: Blood On My Hands

Prologue

I never expected to have my brother's blood all over my hands. I knew he was evil. I knew he was a cruel deviant. I just never expected to find myself coated in his blood, looking into the eyes of his frightened and traumatized widow.

"What do we do with the body?" she frantically asked. She was in shock, but that didn't make her stupid. This woman was incredible even in one of the lowest moments of her young life. Dressed in a white negligee that was stained red. I checked her over for injuries. I could see the handprint swelling on her cheek, the red chaffed skin around her wrists where he had tied her up, and the torn fabric where the monster tried to get between her legs. But there was no blood on her thighs from being forced, and I was relieved by that fact. I rushed towards her and began taking into account any possible broken bones or injuries. She was my priority. She always had been, and she knew.

Tonight, when she was under command to repeat the words and follow him into that room, I knew it had the potential of not being pretty. But there was nothing that I could do. There was defiance on her beautiful face. It was a look no one in that room had ever seen come from the lovely and graceful daughter that she was known to be. As she was paraded out of the room, there was nothing but dread, disgust, and heartbreak on every guest's face except for her father, my father, and my sadistic fuck of a brother.

Yes, not one man, woman, or creature moved to stop what was about to happen. I was commanded to go, wait outside the door, and make sure it happened—a witness for the blood on the sheets and sounds of consummation. Goddess, the crying and the pleading did me in. I couldn't take it anymore. I was ready to rip the door off its hinges, command be damned. I’d somehow break it. Then there was silence. Total and complete silence. I would have expected a crash, a scream, anything, but instead, I heard nothing, I feared for her life, and that is what propelled me into the honeymoon suite.

There was only one way I could have broken an Alpha Command, but I didn’t have time to think about that now, even though in my heart I always suspected.
