ADELINA'S POV

As Mikhail's secretary, technically, I could not get off work before him. I could if he would grant permission for me to leave by the closing hours.

I asked Cecilia, telling her that I had an important meeting to attend, and she referred me to take permission from Mikhail when it was time.

As much as I hated to face Mikhail to attend a meet-up where Asher would be present, I had to do it for grades.

I knocked lightly on the door, and I heard Mikhail's voice from the other side granting me permission to come inside. Spit rolled down my dry throat, and then I pushed the door open.

"Good evening, sir," I chimed. Mikhail was at his desk working; it didn't seem like he was closing from work anytime soon.

"Evening, Mishka," he replied, calling me that annoying Nickname.

"Sorry to interrupt you but I was wondering if I can get off work now," I asked him. He did not take his attention from his work but I was certain he was listening to me.
