ADELINA'S POV

Days passed and I didn't step out of the mansion. I stayed indoors, grieving and ordering takeout with my pocket money.

I was scared of stepping out because of the car; from the street cameras, they were still there watching. My guts told me it was Viktor.

That aside, after emailing the divorce documents to Viktor, there hasn't been any news from him. I don't know how long I will be able to live alone in this Mansion under these conditions; it was too suffocating.

Today, the mansion was lively, and the car finally left. I had guests today. Honestly, it was surprising that many people showed up for the funeral. I Only hoped nothing out of the ordinary happened and I could put my family to rest.

My parents and brother were to be buried at the family cemetery within our properties not too far from the mansion. Some of our old business partners and well-wishers showed up.

"Lina the priest is here," I heard a soft feminine voice call me. My atten

  • Trapped With The Ruthless Alpha: The Heiress Vendetta   204 - To break a bond

MIKHAIL'S POV From the moment the elevator slid open, I could sense her presence, hear her soft laugh. Her strong, addictive scent was something I could never ignore; that perfect blend of rose and strawberries always pulled me. From the corners of my eyes, I could see how she quietly trembled her fingers clutching her bag tightly. Her heart was breaking inside out. I was breaking her slowly all for something she never asked for, something she could never understand. Adelina never asked to be mated to me or even fall for me. She was determined to hate me but fate was just so cruel. My fist clenched, the tension in the car was thick. I was at the brink of telling the driver to stop and just run to her side and hug her. Hold her in my arms and tell her I didn't mean to hurt her I missed the scent of her shampoo, her subtle warmth. God my wolf was clawing and begging for me to stop and just go to her .. She was our other half. Our mate. But if I did that, eve

  • Trapped With The Ruthless Alpha: The Heiress Vendetta   203 - He was dead to me

ADELINA'S POV I could not believe I gathered the confidence to do this but I was tired. It was better to let go and leave before I completely broke.I almost turned back twice while walking down the hallway, but my legs kept moving like they had a mind of their own. The twelfth floor was quieter than usual. It wasn't a frequent floor; normally, going to the HR department wasn't something most people loved doing. The HR office door loomed ahead, sleek, and a sign hung above the double glass doors. "Human Resources – Genesis Corporation" etched in sterile silver. My reflection in the glass looked pale, uncertain. I sucked in a breath and pushed it open. The cold air conditioning hit me first. Typing sounds echoed in the reception, my eye drew to a young woman with square glasses and a pinched expression who barely glanced at me typing furiously on her desktop. "I would love to see Mrs Gregory," she still didn't answer and just nodded toward the far corner before turning back t

  • Trapped With The Ruthless Alpha: The Heiress Vendetta   202 - Last Straw

ADELINA’S POVI shouldn’t have worn my best perfume or spent an hour styling my hair like I was begging for attention but I did. I felt desperate to get him to notice me and acknowledge my presence. This wasn't me, Mikhail was turning into someone I could barely recognise, all because I was clinging to a feeling so fickle, a relationship that didn't even give a proper label, but it meant everything to me. Love was cruel, his obsession had made me feel like he felt the same, and I wasn't the only one who wanted to spend every moment listening and obsessing over the smallest things about him. I was stunning today, dressed to kill as someone had complimented earlier. It wasn't dramatic, but I put in extra effort, and it seemed like it was paying off. At least I have gotten 3 compliments, excluding Lydia and Sophia, who joked about how I looked like I was getting back at my ex, a slayer and not the casual student look I normally had. Today’s board meeting meant we’d f

  • Trapped With The Ruthless Alpha: The Heiress Vendetta   201 - Ghost of the past

ADELINA’S POVI stood outside his office nervously tapping my feet on the marble floor. The documents clutched against my chest like it was what was holding me together. The corridor was quiet, save for the distant sound of the air conditioning system. I stared at the frosted glass of his door, hoping, praying, for even a glimpse of him Maybe if we were alone, he’d answer me. I needed an answer. If he was still upset because of Asher or if I did something again. I didn't want to believe he just lost interest. The pull between us wasn’t something so easy to ignore. Cecilia wasn't at her seat, but I could not go in like I normally did in the past. Her purse was still on her desk with an application still running on her desktop. She was close by and most likely in his office. The door handle clicked, my grip on the document tightened and I held my breath. The door opened, and my anticipation instantly turned to disappointment. It was Cecilia who opened it instead. Her e

  • Trapped With The Ruthless Alpha: The Heiress Vendetta   200 - Grumpy Mikey

ADELINA'S POV .After Kimberly quit her job, she completely disappeared. Not a single word. Radio silence. I was nervous but my mind wasn't fixated on her Something else has been bothering me lately, I didn't know why, but it felt like Mikhail was avoiding me these past few days. Since I begged about Asher's behaviour that night, I haven't seen his figure. Was that a test and I failed? My heart ached, and distance did make the heart more fond. Rumours flew around in school about Asher and Kimberly who have been absent from school. Their numbers weren't going, and their social media was deactivated. I felt guilty but this was a better outcome than what Mikhail would have done. This was for the best. I could feel their gaze when I moved around in school. It got worse after every video about the incident disappeared from the Internet. Some whispered it was Asher's family, while others said it was Kimberly's. I had a feeling it was Mikhail's doing, but why was

  • Trapped With The Ruthless Alpha: The Heiress Vendetta   199 - Suspicious

ADELINA'S POV The mood in the office felt kind of off. I had a feeling some of them recognised me from the trending video. The moment I stepped in their eyes followed me to my seat. They had questions, their curiosity was written all over their faces. "Good afternoon, Lydia." I chimed before taking my seat. We had gotten pretty familiar with each other during this period I started calling her by her first name "Hey Adel, you seem to be in a pretty good mood today." She chimed in, drawing her eyes from the desktop screen. My cheeks turned red, and I averted my eyes, trying to hide the blush. "I woke up on the good side of my bed," I answered, my cheeks even redder. I could not believe I had been smiling like a fool all day because of Mikhail. I was getting hopeless each day. Lydia's eyes lingered on me. Sophia wasn't in her seat at the moment. She probably left to run some errands. "I am glad you are in a good mood because I need your infectious smile." She me
