Althea turned at the sound of footsteps and saw a stunning woman standing in the doorway. Her shoulder-length blonde hair framed a striking face, but her sharp gaze swept over Althea from head to toe with open disdain.

The fitted black and silver uniform clung to her form like armor, and the gleaming insignia over her chest marked her clearly as one of the Alpha King’s elite royal warriors.

‘This bitch. What does she have that made Gavriel let her into his bed? She’s just a weak hybrid. Sure, she’s pretty, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s not even a full-blooded wolf. I need to find a way to get rid of her. And fast.’

Althea’s stomach twisted upon reading her thoughts, and her heart pounded against her ribs. The woman’s lips curved into a smile, polite but fake.

“I am Cara Richmond, one of the Alpha King’s royal warriors. Allow me to escort you to His Majesty,” she said smoothly.

Althea furrowed her brow. If she wasn’t mistaken, this woman, Cara, was the daughter of Alpha Ruel of Southeast Territory.

Then, turning to Melva, Cara added, “You’re coming too. The entire pack is gathering to swear loyalty to Alpha King.”

Althea exchanged a glance with Melva, whose expression had gone pale with worry. Still, she nodded and fell in step behind her. They followed Cara through the stone halls of the fortress, heading to the ceremonial open pavilion.

All eyes turned to her the moment she stepped in, and whispers rippled through the crowd like wildfire, both from her pack and the Alpha King’s men. The stares burned her skin.

“She’ll be the Alpha King’s breeder? Why take her as a breeder?”

“That’s Alpha Cain’s favorite daughter?”

“She’s more human, isn’t she? I heard she doesn’t have a wolf.”

“But look at her… she’s beautiful…”

“She’s the reason the Alpha King spared us… We owe her our lives.”

Althea kept her head high, even as her knees threatened to buckle beneath her. At the far end of the hall stood Alpha King Gavriel with his cold demeanour.

“Bring her forward,” Gavriel commanded.

The crowd parted like a tide as Althea was led toward him. Her hands were no longer shackled, but she still felt as if there were a heavy weight of chains dragging behind her.

She stood in front of the Alpha King while the pack members assembled behind her. The once-proud banner of her father had already been taken down, replaced by the fierce crimson emblem of the Alpha King.

Gavriel’s deep voice echoed through the gathering. “From this day forward,” he began, “Shadowthorn Pack is no more. This land, this territory, and all of you now belong to Bloodrise Pack.”

Bloodrise Pack was the ruling pack, the Alpha King’s own. The royal family’s seat of power… feared and revered across all the Werewolf Realm.

Now, her former home no longer belonged to Shadowthorn. It had become part of something much larger, a reminder of who held the power now.

“You will swear your loyalty to me,” he continued. “In return, I will give you protection, purpose, and power but defiance will not be tolerated.”

The crowd began to kneel, one after another, heads bowed in silent surrender. Althea followed suit, sinking to her knees.

“We swear loyalty to Alpha King Gavriel, and we now belong to the Bloodrise Pack,” they chanted in unison, their voices echoing across the clearing like a solemn oath carved into stone.

“Althea Grayson.” Gavriel’s voice was steady, cold.

Althea kept her head bowed, heart thudding.

“Raise your head and look at me,” he commanded.

She obeyed, lifting her gaze to meet his. For a brief second, something flickered in his eyes… pride? Satisfaction? Pity? She couldn’t tell. None of it mattered.

Frustration bubbled inside her. ‘Why can’t I read him?’ He was the only one whose mind remained shut to her gift.

“From this day forward, you belong to me. But your fate will depend on how well you serve me… and how loyal your heart remains.”

She swallowed hard, forcing her trembling voice to respond. “Yes, Your Majesty.”

Then the Alpha King soon dismissed the pack members. Althea stood to leave as well, but his voice stopped her. “Come with me.”

Biting her lower lip, she followed him in silence as he led her to her father’s hidden chamber. Once inside, Gavriel turned to face her with an icy stare sharp as a blade.

“So,” he said, voice like frost, “where do you think your father is hiding?”

A lump rose in her throat. She didn’t know her father’s plans directly since he had never trusted her that much. But she knew how her father truly believed he could take the throne.

Althea took a slow breath as she stepped back while he walked closer to her until her back pressed against the cold stone wall of her father’s secret chamber.

“I asked you a question,” Gavriel grunted. “Where is your father hiding?”

“I... I’m not sure," Althea answered, cursing her voice for trembling.

His eyes narrowed as he moved closer, closing the gap gradually with slow, deliberate steps. She gulped nervously when he halted just inches away, close enough to feel his breath against her cheek.

“What a terrible liar,” he murmured.

Her lips parted, but no words came out. His scent of dark cedar, smoke, and something uniquely his was intoxicating and overwhelming. Her heart thundered in her chest, and she clenched her fists at her sides, trying to resist the strange, magnetic pull he had on her.

He reached up, and she instinctively flinched. But instead of hitting, he softly brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, his thumb skimming her cheek's soft skin. She inhaled sharply as her skin tingled from his touch. His fingers stayed a moment longer, causing a shiver to run down her spine.

"You feel it, don’t you?" His voice was barely above a whisper, but it rumbled through her like thunder.

  • Trapped with the Alpha King   286/288: I Feel Safe

“Take him down right now,” Althea cried to Gavriel. She could no longer bear watching Kael being poisoned and slowly consumed by the darkness.“Strike through his heart,” she added when she saw the black heart coiled around Kael’s own, pulsing like a parasite feeding on him.Gavriel did not hesitate. He moved instantly and drove his still-sheathed sword straight toward Kael’s chest. The moment the blade struck, a burst of white flame erupted from it and spread across Kael’s body in a swirling wave of holy light. Althea watched as Lionel’s power surged forward, crushing the black, beating heart wrapped around Kael’s own.Kael screamed. But the scream that followed was not entirely his.Another voice rose with it… sharp, furious, and filled with agony as the demonic spirit inside him was forced into the light.By the time Kael collapsed to the ground, Althea quickly ran to his side and knelt beside him, taking his hand tightly in hers.“Kael, renounce it,” she urged softly but firmly. “

  • Trapped with the Alpha King   285/287She’ll Be Yours

The deliverance was supposed to happen tonight after dinner. That had been their plan once Althea confirmed whether there was any demonic or unclean spirit inside Kael’s body. They intended to invite Kael and the other contestants to dine with them, then quietly ask everyone else to leave afterward so Kael could remain behind. That was when they would begin the deliverance. It was meant to be their first operation.Originally, it would have been Gavriel and Osman performing the deliverance with Althea guiding them. But Gavriel had already refused to let his wife become physically involved. Unfortunately for him, Althea was stubborn. They had already begun forming a small group of gifted individuals who could see and sense demonic and unclean spirits. In the future, this group would assist during deliverance rites under Gavriel’s lead together with Althea. However, the members were still undergoing training and screening. Elior himself would arrive in two days to personally guide the

The next morning, Althea attended the court session with Gavriel, seated beside him on the royal dais. It wasn’t her first time attending a meeting like this, yet somehow she still felt nervous.Gavriel had been unusually quiet since morning, and she already knew why. Even now, she could hardly believe how petty the once ruthless Gavriel could be when it came to her. He was truly waiting for her to show everyone, right there in court, how much she doted on him.The great doors swung open as the guards announced the arrival of the four remaining candidates for the position of Minister of Justice.Althea’s eyes immediately found Kael among them. At the same moment, his gaze searched for hers as well. Her fingers tightened unconsciously around the hem of her gown.‘No,’ she gasped silently under her breath. She had to blink several times to make sure she was seeing it correctly. She couldn’t believe it.A dark demonic spirit like a serpent was latched onto Kael’s back, its long shadowy b

  • Trapped with the Alpha King   283/285: When It Mattered

The marketplace was especially lively that day. More merchants than usual had arrived because of the week-long celebration for the Queen’s pregnancy. The King had opened the borders to traders for the occasion, though strict protocols were still in place to maintain security.Beatrice found herself enjoying the outing far more than she expected. She wandered from stall to stall, looking at different goods and occasionally buying small items. Lord Evan accompanied her closely, and to her surprise, Uriel was there as well… carrying most of her purchases.“Are you sure you don’t need to go, my Lord?” she asked Uriel deliberately while browsing through a boutique that displayed neatly folded scarves. “I thought you needed to buy medicines.”“Right, my lord,” Lord Evan added politely. “I will make sure Lady Beatrice remains safe with me around.”Beatrice caught the brief gloomy look that crossed Uriel’s face before he quickly masked it with his usual calm expression.“Gustav and Juno are h

Gavriel could no longer hold himself back. As soon as he finished his duties at the palace, he headed straight to where Althea was.It was already late noon when he arrived. From a distance, he saw her laughing freely while playing cards with Melva and Tristan. He didn’t approach her right away. Instead, he stayed where he was and simply watched her for a moment.Rudy quickly came forward to greet him and began reporting what had happened during the picnic by the shore.“Lord Tristan has started approaching Trudis as well. It seems Her Majesty and Lady Melva are trying to play matchmaker between the two,” Rudy added.Gavriel gave a small nod, his lips curving slightly as he watched the bright smile on his wife’s face.“I want to go to the market with her today,” Gavriel informed Rudy before walking toward Althea. As soon as Melva noticed him, she quickly stood up from where she had been sitting on the ground. Tristan and the twins followed her lead and greeted him politely. Gavriel ga

  • Trapped with the Alpha King   281/283: His Growing Obsession

Days passed, and the long feast continued as scheduled. Life in the palace returned to its usual rhythm.Gavriel had originally intended for Althea to attend court meetings regularly, but with her pregnancy, he limited her presence to once or twice a week, depending on how she felt. After all, they could always discuss important matters in private. Althea often asked about the court sessions, sharing her thoughts and opinions, which Gavriel always took into careful consideration.Today’s session was supposed to be routine. Yet, Gavriel’s expression remained unusually sour. The reason was simple. Kael Moore was present again. He almost forgot about this man…At the front of the hall, Minister Marius Ward stood with the shortlisted candidates for the position of Minister of Justice that had been long vacant. After rounds of screening and elimination, only four remained.“Your Majesty, we will proceed with the next stage of selection through a majority vote from the Royal Council. The fo
