Chapter 6

When Lara returned to the car, Alpha Kilian was scrolling through his phone, but his senses were on high alert for any danger. He caught Lara’s scent and glanced at her with his alpha’s gaze.

“Have you found it?”

“Yeah, I dropped it on the way here.” She took out a pen and waved it in front of him.

Alpha Kilian replied with dominance, “It’s just a pen. If you lose it, just forget it.”

“It’s a birthday present from you two years ago! It’s very meaningful to me, so I can’t bear to lose it.” With that, Lara put it away carefully.

Alpha Kilian continued scrolling through the documents on his phone, keeping a stern expression. Lara glanced at him and remarked, “Sally looks quite pretty. She’s quite charismatic too.”

He was taken aback for a moment. Without raising his head, he replied calmly, “Sure.”

“She’s your type, right?” asked Lara. She was cunning as a she-wolf, pretending to be nonchalant, but it was actually a careful test.

Alpha Kilian looked at her, his wolf’s eyes unfathomable. “What are you trying to say, Pup?”

Lara smiled. “Nothing. I just think that she’s pretty.”

“There are a lot of pretty girls out there, but it’s rare to find one with an interesting soul” he replied with his alpha’s wisdom.

“But even her beauty is rare” said Lara. Revealing her jealousy towards the woman. Alpha Kilian continued looking at his phone quietly. Even though Lara had been his side for so long, she still could not read his wolf’s mind. She averted her gaze and looked at the driver. “Start the car.”

Alpha Kilian suddenly woke up in the middle of his wolf’s dream. In his dream, Nelly and two wolf pups were covered in blood. They howled as they moved further and further away from him..

When Alpha Kilian sat up, his fur was already covered in sweat.

He got out of his wolf’s bed and walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The bright moon hung amongst the clouds, while stars dotted the night sky. He sniffed the air

Even though six years had passed, the incident still haunted him. After he had divorced Nelly then, the housekeeper found an ultrasound image that showed that she was carrying his pups. By the time he returned to his senses, she had already disappeared from his life. To be exact, he could not locate her whereabouts at all. It was like she had disappeared into thin air.

He let out a low growl and picked up his phone. “Investigate a woman named Sally from Prosper Technologies,’ he instructed. His wolf craved for revenge.

“Right now?” The assistant had just woken up from his sleep and was still groggy.

Alpha Kilian’s wolf growled with impatience. “Do it now or feel my wrath.”

He hung up the call after that. He knew that his wolf’s dream had something to do with the woman he saw earlier in the day. However, he was certain that she was not the same woman.

He did not regret the marriage. He merely felt bad for the two wolf pups. If he had found out earlier, the marriage might not have ended so quickly. At the very least, he would not let her take the wolf pups away. After finishing his cigarette, Alpha Kilian returned to his den and got back to his bed.

Some things were bound to leave regrets. Prosper Technologies had been waiting for Morris Corporation’s response. However, they had not received any updates after so long. Unable to bear with it anymore, Chris looked for Nelson

“Chris, I know that this project is extremely important to you, but we can’t control Morris Corporation’s decision” Said Nelson. When he did not receive any responses, he already understood what that meant.

“Nelson, is there a problem with our proposal? What is it? I want to know!” Demanded Chris.

Nelson sighed. “I heard that your proposal is one of the better ones, but Lara vetoed it. They didn’t say why.”

Chris narrowed his wolf’s eyes. “It’s got something to do with Nelly mmh.”

Nelson did not know how to deal with a wolf’s alpha. He merely wanted Nelly to learn from the meeting, but he did not expect Lara to target her. Hence, he could not say for sure whether Nelly had something to do with it.

“Chris , only Morris Corporation will know. Since they didn’t update us, I can’t possibly ask Mr. Morris directly, right?”

“I know!” With that, Chris turned around and left with his wolf’s anger. Nelson sighed helplessly as he stared at Chris‘s retreating wolf’s figure.

Everyone in the Programming Department knew that Chris was in a bad wolf’s mood, but none of them knew how to console him.

They began talking about it during their break.

“We can’t blame Chris for being in a bad wolf’s mood. If the project had gotten through, his little sister could be cured.”

“What illness does his sister have?”

“I’m not sure, but I heard that it requires a lot of money. Nelson said that if his proposal got accepted, he would give Chris the bonus in advance. Looks like the wolf’s plan got foiled!”

“No wonder he seems so hostile recently.” Someone sighed.

When Nelly heard what her colleagues said, she snarled softly. At that moment, someone entered. “Chris went to Morris Corporation!”

Everyone stood up in shock. “What? Is he out of his wolf’s mind? He can’t afford to mess with Morris Corporation!”

“Nelson wants two wolves from the pack to bring him back.”

Tommy and Ross, who were part of the same wolfs pack, immediately ran out with their fur raised. Meanwhile, Nelly sat there motionlessly with her eyes gleaming.

At Morris Corporation,

Alpha Kilian was having a meeting in the conference room when he heard a commotion outside. Lara glanced at the rest before rose to her feet and left to deal with it.

When she saw Chris demanding to meet Alpha Kilian, she walked over to him with her alpha confidence. “What's going on?”

The secretary explained helplessly, “He insists on meeting Mr. Morris.”

Lara scrutinized him disdainfully with her wolf's eyes. “Is this how the wolves of prosper Technologies behave? I thought that the message was clear without needing to say anything. Since you insist on knowing, let me give it to you straight. We've decided to go ahead with Elexus' plan.”

“Why?” growled Chris with his alpha authority.

“It's our company's decision. Why is there a need to explain to a lowly wolf?”

“I know how capable Elexus is. They can't even compare to our company! In fact, they've been accused of plagiarism in the past. How can it be beneficial for your company?” Chris snarled with his alpha dominance.

Lara laughed with her alpha amusement. “Please check yourself, wolf. Don't defame them just because of your failure. That will just reveal your flawed character.” She could not be bothered to waste any more time with him. “Get him out!” With that, she turned around and left.

Chris refused to leave with his alpha's defiance. “Although I can't claim that our proposal is the best, it definitely suits your company the most! This is unfair!”

Lara did not even turn around with her confidence. At that moment, the meeting ended. Alpha Kilian walked out with his alpha's authority. When he saw the commotion, he did not even spare them a single glance. However, Chris rushed to him desperately with his alpha's rage. “Mr. Morris, I'm from Prosper Technologies. I need a chance. I need justice!”

Seeing how Alpha Kilian had no intention of entertaining him, Chris panicked with his wolf’s anxiety. “Is it because of Nelly? Are you going to let all our efforts go to waste just because of a she-wolf? Is this what a major wolf’s pack should be doing?”
