Premonition

“That’s a great idea, we can look at an intro course to give you an idea of what its like and see if you want to take it further.” Lottie smiles at me and gives my hand an excited squeeze. Her eyes widen and her face knots in terror. The high-pitched screech of breaks slices through the air and I turn in time to see the glinting silver grill of a huge white lorry just as it ploughs headfirst into the door beside me.

The impact dislodges all the air from my lungs and my head snaps to the side, followed by my body, only to be ripped forcefully back into place by my seatbelt. Numbness floods me from the head down and I watch in shock as my arms fly around in front of my face, my head lolls from on side to the other and the seatbelt slices into me. Our car flies into the air and it’s like gravity doesn’t exist. Lottie’s loose hair floats around our faces, and time stands still, my scream frozen halfway up my throat. Metal crunches and groans as the roof crumples when it hits the road. Gl
