“Did you call ahead to make sure it’s ready?” Chris asks, his fists clenched at his side. He is trying to distract himself from everything I told him by shifting his focus. I can tell he is fighting to keep Max from surfacing and running back to Liberty.

“They are expecting us. I hope she likes it. We need to sit down with the team and discuss security for the mediation in a couple of weeks. I’m beginning to think us hosting this time is going to bring a lot of trouble to our door.” I can see his mind switch from anger mode to defensive.

He is the best we have as far as tactics and strategy are concerned. Max has a somewhat unique approach and between him and Christian, and their brutal methods, we have never lost a fight and our pack has enjoyed their safety ever since we took up our positions. I knew the distraction would work and thankfully by the time we get to our destination he is almost back to his normal level of pent up frustration. I think it’s time we get back to taking p
