SHERIFF

{Sunday, 5 days to the blood moon}

“My name is Jasmine,” a teenager said as she entered the office. I stared at her and looked back at Jacob, he was standing with the girl from earlier.

“My name is Molly,” she said with a grin.

I massaged my scalp and tried to get over the ringing in my head. “What are you guys doing here?” I asked. “I'm not running a daycare.”

Molly chuckled. “Well, Mr. Sheriff,” she said. “We didn't come here for you to babysit us. If at all anyone needed babysitting, it would be you.”

“Me?” I asked. “How so?”

She picked up the Father's Day mug on the floor and handed it to me. “You were unconscious when we walked in here, and from the symbol on the injection in the waste bin, I can tell that Mr. Gordon or one of his men visited you,” she said. “And from the Father’s day mug, I can tell you have a family. If Mr. Gordon knows you, your family can't be safe.”
