Chapter One

George could not believe it so next day he pretended to leave her at the school and then followed her as she went to the boyfriend`s house.

The house looked like one of a drug dealer. He had barged in there to find her quickly fixing her buttons showing that they had been sleeping with each other. He had shouted and shouted at her that day, and told her she would never see that guy ever again. He had then dragged her by the hair about to take her back home until she shouted that she was pregnant so she could not make her leave the father of her child. That had stopped him in his tracks, and he disowned her, told her he was no longer her father and never wanted to see her ever again. Then he left and as he arrived home, tears finally flowed out. All those sacrifices he had made for Martha only for her to slap it all back into his face.

He also knew that this choice Martha had made was not going to end well for her and that is exactly what happened. That boyfriend of hers had given her Hiv and then dumbed her with the baby to go be with another woman who was rich. So she was left suffering by herself looking for jobs like cleaning and dealing with an Hiv infected baby who finally died from not getting proper treatment. Luckily she was still alive now a 50 year old woman as she was able to get pills and proper treatment from free hospitals which started opening up. But her life was still not easy as she was still doing hard labor jobs to earn a living.

As for George he was lucky as his son, Walter who was Purity`s father, was the one to uplift the family without George having to look for fees money. He worked hard, passing his studies with distinctions which got him a scholarship to study engineering and now he had just graduated with an MBA. He worked a successful job as CEO had bought George a beautiful house and provided well for his own family.

George then saw his granddaughter looking at him with one eyebrow up making him realize he had gotten lost in memories from his past forgetting whatever he had been about to say.

“Sorry my dear i just got lost in my thoughts. And as i was saying, im sure you have just heard about my other granddaughter Ruth, your Uncle Steven`s daughter who just got pregnant in her last high school year just as she was about to go study to become a doctor through a scholarship.” He then said to her feeling that disappointment when he heard about that and now the girl Ruth had lost her scholarship and was living with the boyfriend. What comforted him was at least the boyfriend had money and was working as a lawyer so Ruth would be provided for but he had also heard that the guy was abusive and hit her.

As for Purity his favorite granddaughter she just looked at him wondering where this was going and had to do with her.

“Im telling you this because when i named you Purity it was for a purpose. I want you to be an example to the other females who are going to be born in my legacy or in your generation. I know what im asking is too much but i want you to give me your word that you are going to be different and stand out. You are not going to follow what everyone considers normal and is now being accepted as the right way nowadays when its not.

I want you to be everything that your name implies. I want you to live your life in complete honesty and integrity. I want you to be successful where your aunt was unsuccessful. I don't want you to have any sexual relations with anyone before we get married. Something else I want you to do, which will be difficult, is to wait until after you graduate from college with a degree in education before you start dating and having a boyfriend. For those who do not wish to pursue a degree and do not enjoy academics, having a permanent and stable source of income, such as owning a successful business, is a good alternative to relying on government assistance. "I want you to be financially self-sufficient and not allow boys to sabotage your future development." He then said something to her, finally letting her know what had been going on in his head all this time.

Purity looked at him with wide eyes at first, as if she had not expected her grandfather to ask such a question of her. She wondered if her Grandpa was aware that there were also positive stories about girls who married when they were young. For example, her mother Cynthia met her father when she was a young adolescent in high school, while he was in his second year of college, according to her mother Cynthia. She became pregnant with Purity, which caused her to drop out of school and marry her father when she was still a teenager. Cynthia was still a housewife with four grown-up children and 20 years of marriage to a wonderful husband who treated her with respect and provided for her every need at the time.

Then again, it might have had something to do with picking the right guy with good intentions!

The fact that she was now a teenager who would be starting high school the following year, and all she had been thinking about was how she could finally date and have a boyfriend, she was not going to agree to this. After all, high school boys were extremely attractive! However, her dying grandfather was about to put an end to that dream by compelling her to swear to live a life of purity! And who the hell was still doing that in the first place, it was so out of date.

George then realized that his granddaughter was on the verge of saying no, but he would not allow her to do so. So he pretended to cough violently, and she jumped to her feet, handing him a glass of water and franticly praying that he wasn't going to die at that moment.

"Please, my dear purity, are you really going to deny a dying old man's last wish?" "Are you really going to deny a dying old man's last wish?" He then said something to her after he had stopped coughing and she had returned to her seat.

"All right Grandpa, I'll take care of it." Purity then responded, stating that she did not want to disappoint her grandfather.

"No, I'm looking for something concrete that will reassure me that you intend to follow through on your commitment." His next move was to speak in hushed tones and whisper the words he wanted her to say in his presence.

Then she stopped because she didn't want to say the next words, but her grandfather gave her the look she needed to continue. "I, Purity Roberts, swear before God and my dying grandfather George that I will live a life of purity, only having sex after marriage, and"

'However, grandpa, if I don't start dating right away, I'm not sure how I'm going to find a husband later on, because the vast majority of them will be married or dating other girls by then.' Afterwards, she said something to him in the hopes that it would cause him to reconsider his position on dating.

If you start dating while you are still young, "my darling daughter," I warn her, "you will not be able to resist the temptation to sleep with the boys." All I want to do is make sure you're not in danger. My assurance about your husband is that if you are patient and do not rush, but instead place your trust in God, he will bring you your prince charming at the appropriate time and place, as well as in superior quality." George then replied to her with a wise tone in his voice, which she appreciated.

Purity continued after a brief sigh, and she reciprocated with a promise of her own. As a result of his announcement, she left to return home with her grandmother. To the contrary, when George took his last breath, he was no longer concerned because he was confident that his granddaughter Purity would keep her promise because he had taught her how to do so. In his heart, he hoped that he was correct and that God would send Purity her prince charming according to his wishes.... Because of this, he died and a funeral service was held in his honor.

Friends andd family`s gathered to mourn him.
