One wolf clamps his jaws around the vampire’s arm while another slams into his side, sending both of them tumbling through the dirt. The vampire snarls and throws one of them off with enough force to make him crash into a tree.

I take another step backward, but Momo keeps me rooted to the spot. She is watching the fight, but I can feel her attention shifting toward the woman. Something about her has Momo on edge.

I look across the clearing and find the woman standing behind the others. She hasn’t joined the fight. She is watching everything with a strange calmness, her eyes moving from the enforcers to Trojan before settling on me again.

Why the hell is she looking at me like that?

Then she smiles, almost amused, like this entire situation has gone exactly the way she expected. She takes a step backward and I realize what she’s doing. She’s leaving them. Her companions are fighting for their lives, and she’s simply walking away.

She runs, moving between the trees so quickly that I can’t follow her with my eyes. The two enforcers disappear after her, but the woman is already gaining distance.

“Don't let her get away!” Trojan roars inside my head, then he looks at me. “Go home.”

Momo turns and dashes through the trees as soon as she hears Trojan’s command, following the path back toward Trojan’s house. Branches scrape against my fur, but I don't care. My mind is still stuck on the woman and the way she looked at me before she ran.

She wasn't afraid. She looked like she saw something she didn’t expect, but there was no fear in her eyes. If anything, she looked almost pleased.

The mother. The words keep repeating inside my head.

I shift back as soon as we enter the house and grab the first towel I can find and wrap it around myself before heading upstairs.

My stomach growls halfway up the stairs.

“Great,” I mutter to myself. “And I have to breastfeed two strangers on an empty stomach.”

I push open the door to the bedroom I supposedly share with Trojan, expecting to find the wet nurse sitting beside the bassinet. Instead, I find Marcus standing beside the bed, looking down at the twins. But what irks me is the fact that his scent is masked. I would've smelled him when I arrived, but I didn't. I can't figure out why he's hiding the scent he loves so much.

He turns when he hears me and looks me up and down. His mouth curls into the same nasty smile I've known since we were teenagers.

“Nice outfit,” he says, his eyes lingering on the towel wrapped around me. “Did you lose your clothes while you were running through the forest?”

I close the door behind me and stare at him. “Where's the wet nurse?”

He shrugs. “How the hell should I know?”

“You're in the room with two babies and you don't know where the person responsible for taking care of them is?”

“I came to see my siblings. I didn't come to babysit the babysitter.”

I glance at the twins. They're both asleep, completely unaware of the tension in the room.

Marcus leans against the edge of the bed and folds his arms. “You know, for someone who claims she doesn't remember anything, you seem to have gotten very comfortable with them.”

I don't like the way he says it. “What does that mean?”

He smiles. “Nothing. I just think it's funny. This morning you were acting like someone had dropped two random babies into your bedroom, and now you're rushing upstairs to check on them.”

“I live here.”

“Do you?” he snarls.

His question catches me off guard.

He pushes himself away from the bed and walks toward me. “Because you spent years complaining about being Alpha Trojan's unwanted little ward. You couldn't wait until you were old enough to leave. Now suddenly you're sharing his bed and playing house with him.”

I stare at him, feeling irritation crawl up my spine. “Why do you care?”

“I don't.” Marcus shrugs, but the smirk on his face says otherwise. “I'm just curious how quickly you forgot everything you used to complain about.”

“I didn't forget.”

“Really?” He steps closer. “Because you don't even remember getting pregnant.”

My stomach tightens.

He notices immediately and smiles. “That one got you.”

I hate that he can still read me so easily.

“I don't remember a lot of things,” I admit. “But neither does anyone else, because everyone keeps telling me there was no fire.”

Marcus's expression changes for a moment, but he recovers quickly. “Maybe because there wasn't one,” his voice rises. “This is what happens when you seduce an alpha who hasn’t met his Luna and trap him with babies. It drives you nuts.”

Trojan’s POVAlpha Kione is sitting across from me in the pack house conference room, his arms folded while two of his senior wolves sit beside him. Maps of the surrounding territories cover the table, marked with the places where the vampires crossed our boundaries.I personally would rather be anywhere else than sitting in front of him. Mainly because just seeing his face makes me want to shoot him in the neck. But here we are, talking pack safety.“They walked straight through your borders,” Kione says, tapping one of the marked areas on the map. “No warning. No formal challenge. If your patrol hadn’t caught them when they did, they would have been inside your residential sector before anyone noticed.”He doesn’t have the real details of what actually went down, and I prefer it that way. Anything Kione knows, the entire East Wood ends up knowing. “I’m aware,” I answer, keeping my voice measured. He glares at me like I’ve been ignorant. “Then you understand why the rest of us

“It broke,” I mutter, because that’s the best explanation available. I have nothing else to offer.Whitmore raises an eyebrow. “I can see that.”A few students laugh, and I shove the broken pieces into my bag before anyone can make another comment. Marcus surprisingly doesn't even say anything. I try to ignore the smell of blood drifting through the open window but it’s hard to focus when my urges are screaming at me to jump out the window. I press my lips together and try to breathe through my mouth.I awkwardly look around the classroom and notice Macy watching me funny. I roll my eyes, barely, and turn back to the front.Moon Goddess, what the hell is happening to me? It’s been one bad shit after another. First a fire, and now I want to sink my teeth into someone.‘Why do you want her blood?’ Momo asks, sounding just as confused as I feel.‘I don’t know,’ I mutter inside my head, keeping my eyes on my notebook. ‘Maybe I’m morphing into a vampire.’‘That’s not funny.’‘Then

I stare at him, trying to figure out what his angle is. It’s strange that Marcus didn’t even follow him when he followed me. This could just be another dumb prank, but I don’t remember him telling Marcus or anyone that I was his fated mate. He wanted to keep it under wraps so his pack and ours wouldn’t mock him, along with basically everyone else at the academy.“I don’t remember doing any rejecting,” I mutter and start walking faster toward administration.I need to find out what my classes are and my schedule, not deal with this shit. At least he doesn’t follow me.I get my schedule and find out that I changed my course from Business Administration to Pack History and Governance.I blink at the paper a couple of times. “What the fuck?”The woman behind the desk looks up at me. “Is there a problem?”I look down at my schedule again, hoping the words will somehow change if I stare at them long enough. “I changed my course?”“Yes.” She glances at her computer. “You requested the

He slips his hands back under my ass and lifts off the counter, keeping my legs wrapped around his torso as he walks us upstairs to our bedroom. He puts me on the bed and his mouth is on my nipple, sucking and nibbling.I chuckle under my breath as I think that there’s no way he isn’t getting the milk in his mouth whenever he licks on me like that. He doesn’t seem to care. His leaves my tit and his mouth meets mine in a soft, wet kiss that makes me gasp.He breaks his lips from mine and looks at me, still intense and hungry. “I’ll never get enough of you.”Something moves from my stomach up my chest and squeezes. “I like the sound of that.”I do, but his words still ring that this is just an arrangement. One that’ll come to an abrupt end when his mate comes along. And I hope I’ll be alright when that happens. Everything will be back to normal and the whole memories thing will be solved.“You suddenly seem distracted,” he whispers, his eyes sweeping over my face. I smile and sha

“Trojan!” I whisper, my back arching as he continues stroking my clit in hurried circles. We’re in the kitchen, and only the under-cabinet lights are on. The nurse left maybe ten minutes ago after putting the twins to sleep in the nursery.Trojan has my ass on the counter with my shorts and panties hanging on one ankle, and his hand between my legs like he’s been waiting for me all evening. I wasn’t even gone four hours. His other hand is holding my thigh in place, making sure I remain spread out while his fingers work me and apply pressure at the same time. I’m so embarrassingly wet that I can feel it dripping between my ass cheeks.Every time he presses a little harder I have to bite my lip to keep from making noise.“You’re so easy for me,” he murmurs, sounding very pleased with himself.I try to glare at him but my head falls back against the counter when his thumb swipes over my clit again and my whole body jumps. He chuckles quietly and slides tw

My mouth falls open and I blink while she just pours tea like it’s the most normal thing in the world. She knows that I can’t remember the past year, but does she know why?“What’s going on, Messiah?” I ask, putting my face in my hands. “I was beginning to think that maybe I’ve lost my mind.”She laughs and hands me a cup of tea. “I don’t know for sure what happened to you, but I do know that you might be twenty physically, but you’re still that nineteen-year-old girlat heart who used to let people walk all over you.”“How?” I shake my head, putting the tea on the table. “Did I lose my memories of the last year?”“Not exactly,” she says slowly, as if trying to figure out how to tell me something bigger. “I hate riddles,” I mutter with a frown.“Okay.” She shifts in her chair. “I believe that you…” She points at me. “Haven’t lived the past year. I think that nineteen-year-old you, this you, travelled into this future and into twenty-year-old you’s body, after a traumatic experie
