CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: Devil's Temptation

WILLIAM'S POV

On arriving at Alex's house, I am mesmerized by how huge it is; grandfather has given it to him as a wedding present. "You have such a nice house," I compliment.

"Thanks," he replies, and we head inside, where we find his wife serving food on the dining table. As soon as she sees me, she quickly stops and comes over to greet me.

"Hi," she greets with a lovely smile, and now I finally get to see her clearly. I must say, she is a real beauty.

"Hi," I return her greeting.

"It's really nice to have you here in our humble home. I think you are the first family member to visit us here, and that makes me even more grateful for your visit," she says warmly.

"Really? Wow, that's really an honor and I think I deserve an award for that," I reply to her jokingly, but Alex doesn't interfere in our conversation and just heads upstairs. I and his wife's eyes follow him, and then I shift my gaze back to her. I can see a look of disappointment on her face.
