Chapter 81

HAZEL

I wake up feeling weak, my body heavy and my head throbbing with pain. It's been days since I fell ill, and in spite of all the efforts of the healer and my loved ones, I still feel no better. If anything, the sickness seems to be getting worse with each passing moment.

“Good morning, Hazel. How are you feeling right now?” Ethan's voice breaks through the haze of pain as he enters the room, his face etched with concern.

I manage a weak smile, trying to push aside the overwhelming fatigue that weighs me down.

“Morning, Ethan, still the very same.” I reply, my voice barely above a whisper. “What’s up? Any news?”

He shakes his head, his expression grim.

“I'm afraid not.” He says, his voice heavy with worry. "The other healer has tried everything, but nothing seems to be working. I don't know what else to do, but it looks like all we can continue to pray for something better to happen to us at this point.”
