EVENLY’s POV
I pulled out a groan from my lips as I forced my heavy eyes open. I was in my room and not a strange place I had woken up to, yesterday.
I had a dream about seeing a man who was stalking me. Or was it not a dream? In my dream, I had collapsed and lost consciousness outside when I had an encounter with him.
How the hell did I get back inside?
My mind was playing so many games with me I don't know if I had a dream or if it happened, cause it felt so real. Well, some bad dreams feel like that. And for the stalker, maybe it was because I thought about him last night.
I groaned and rubbed my tired neck, but got a sharp sting. "Ouch!" I cried and pulled my hand away, only to see blood.
My eyes widened, as I jumped out of the bed and ran to the window. It was there. It wasn't a dream after all. It was just as I remembered. I got marked by that stranger.
My heart skipped a beat. This is a disaster. No, it can't be. How could I let this happen to me? Marked to a total stranger? That was like giving my whole life to a man I don't know. And as long as the mark was still there, that meant he was my mate.
I turned my neck to the other side and noticed the mark there too. It was there. This means one thing, I was marked by the same person. Putting it up together, it all made sense. The way he was staring at me at the bar. He must have known me right from the beginning.
I tried to calm my raging heart. I need to go to the pack's house for my new job or my life would officially be ruined.
I took in a deep breath and went to take a bath. I wouldn't allow anything to ruin my new job. This thing about getting a mark would be dealt with later.
.....
The pack mansion was way bigger and more luxurious than my formal pack. Anyway, the Red Fur wolves pack, was known for its riches and power. Its influence was raging over the other wolves' pack.
I finally got to be in the legendary Red Fur Wolves.
I breathed out deeply and went in.
"Excuse me," I called for the attention of a young woman, walking out of the mansion. She was dressed in a black button shirt and dark grey pants. Her hair was tied in a bun. "Please I am a new worker here. Where can I go from here."
She examined me from head to toe with her nose scrunched up. "Come with me." She said with irritation in her voice.
I ignored her expression and went with her. She led me to a room where some ladies were and walked away. I quickly went to take a seat among the ladies who I suspect were new workers too.
An older lady walked in and introduced herself as the head of servants who would be orientating us. According to her, we need to know the rules and regulations before we begin working for the Alpha's family, who are hard to please.
While she started on her orientation, I suddenly had that tingling feeling at the back of my neck again. The same feeling I have been getting since I arrived in Manhattan.
The same feeling of someone watching me. I sharply turned but there was no one. This is creepy. I was alone again and whoever it was, wouldn't show himself.
I swallowed hard and looked away trying to get the thought out of my head as I faced the woman, orientating us.
"No matter what you girls do, never you get close to any of the brothers. I know what you all must have heard about them, but believe me, they are all as vicious as you have heard. For your safety, avoid them all" The head servant advised. "Never you get close to any of them or fall in love with them. Trust me, you will regret it. They will make you regret it."
The other ladies began to murmur among themselves while I remained still, trying to think about the stalker who had been after me for the past couple of days. The first day I arrived, he was there.
I was no celebrity or someone anyone would love to associate with, and this made it even more scary.
"Is that clear!" The head servant said out loud and the ladies replied except me, who had no idea of what was going on.
The head servant's gaze fell on me and a frown crawled its way up to her face. "You seem to be absentminded, young woman. What is your name?"
I cleared my throat and answered, "Luna ma'am. Luna McCoy."
She nodded and went on, "What were we talking about?"
Okay, that would be a problem. I didn't hear ninety percent of what she said.
"And I want you to say them all out on your feet, while everyone looks at you."
Trouble in paradise.
I slowly stood up and swallowed hard. They were all staring at me. I opened my mouth to say something, but my words got caught up in my throat as I got that feeling of being watched.
I quickly looked back and a gasp fell out of my lips at the sight of the baby blue eyes staring back at me. No, it can't be.
Those eyes were so familiar that I would recognize them even in my dream. Please let it not be true. Let it be that I am seeing him in my dream.
The world came still and I was left with him, staring at me and my eyes, not leaving his. Right before me was the man whose name was registered in my head. An imprint he left behind. Jared Lockwood.
I thought I had finally left my life behind but right before me was the one who ruined it. Why the hell was he in Manhattan?
I turned and ran away, abandoning the orientation class for the new servants. I want to escape from him. I can't allow him to get a hold of me anymore.
Getting to the door, I was suddenly grabbed behind and swirled around to face the one who had caught me.
He drew me closer and I ended up leaning on him with my hands on his chest. I looked up to see the man and for a couple of seconds, my heart stopped.
That familiar ocean eyes stared right into me. I won't forget that gaze even in ten years to come. He is just as I remembered.
"Hello sexy wolf, it's been a while, hasn't it?" He had a smirk plastered on his face.
"Evelyn McCoy?" Someone called my name.
I looked beside us and saw him, staring at us from a distance. "Jared." His name pulled out of my mouth.
Mia's POV:I turned my head. Although my mind told me he didn't want to kiss me, my heart was pounding so hard that I believed he was going to kiss me.I heard him chuckle. His fingers grazed the side of my cheek before tucking strands of my hair behind my ear. I blushed, embarrassed.“I wasn't going to kiss you. I just wanted to get this hair out of your face.” he chuckled, amused by my reaction. He straightened and walked back to his seat. “I want to be able to see you while we spend time together.”I smiled back at him although I was burning with embarrassment. I downed the rest of my wine in a hurry, causing him to chuckle again. He refilled my glass.“Don't drink so quickly,” he said. I nodded. I just shouldn't jump to conclusions so easily. “And if I want to kiss you, you'll know. I'll ask you first.”My eyes flitted to see him staring intensely at me. I swallowed and nodded, telling him that I understood. He glanced behind me and smiled, “Our dinner's here.”I hadn't even heard
Mia's POV:“Melanie!” I exclaimed in horror, sitting up. I looked at the rearview mirror just in time to see the driver look at it.“Is everything okay back there, miss?” He asked.“Everything is fine. Don't worry,” I told him forcing a smile and then turning to look at Melanie. It couldn't be, right? She didn't like my mate, did she?She burst into a fit of laughter. “I'm joking! Relax. Don't you know how friends act? It's like saying, I want someone like your mate but not that I want your mate. Does that make sense?” She explained.“Are you sure?” I asked, warily. With Melanie, I couldn't tell if she was faking the humor or if she had slipped up and told me the truth. I needed to learn to read her better.“Of course, I am, Mia. It's not that deep, I promise.” She said, holding up her pinky finger.I sighed. “Okay, I got scared there.”“You thought I wanted to take away one of your super hot and rich mates?” She asked.“No, I thought you liked one of my super hot and rich mates and n
Mia's POV:I was scared. Something had happened while I was busy enjoying a massage. I grabbed Melanie's arm, “What? What happened?”“This house is awesome!” She screamed jumping and twirling at the same time. She was like a teenager excited about their new phone.I exhaled, glad that it wasn't something else. “Ohh? I haven't seen the place yet.”Melanie looked at Felicity curiously. “Who's she?” She asked.Felicity didn't take any offense and she held out her hand. “Hi, I'm Felicity—Mia's friend.”I looked at her as Melanie said, “I didn't know you made a new friend.”“We bonded over massages and manicures,” Felicity said, showing Melanie our nude-painted nails.“You had manicures?!” Melanie exclaimed, grabbing my hand.“Come show me the house,” I said, grabbing her hand and dragging her into the house.“Goodnight, girls.” Felicity chuckled.“Goodnight,” Melanie and I threw over our shoulder at her.***When I woke up, I was a bit confused. I didn't know where I was. The ceiling was
Mia's POV:I didn't know whether Jackson was jealous that Jaxon had kissed my hand or his eyes darkened because he thought of all the things he could do for me. I didn't know.I also didn't know how having three mates felt. Did they get jealous when one mate got closer to me or touched me? How were the three of them supposed to share one mate?I didn't know how possible it was because it was something that I had only heard about. Well, I was going to find out soon.Wait, did they know I had been married? I asked them because I needed them to know that. I needed them to be comfortable with the fact that I had been with someone before them.“We know everything there is to know about Mia. We just don't know you, personally.” Jace said.“And we don't care if you're divorced, heck, we don't care if you killed someone or multiple people,” Jackson added.“We just want you, Mia. All of you.” Jaxon completed.I was going to cry. I was going to cry in front of three grown men. I managed not to
Mia's POV:“From hair to nails, waxing to massages, the Triplets have booked the beauty parlor to attend to your every need.” She explained.“They booked the beauty parlor? You mean the whole thing?” I gestured at the large building behind her.She smiled. It wasn't mocking or anything. She seemed happy that I was getting this treatment for some reason. “Yes, the whole thing.”Why would they do that? Why would they want to change everything about me? Was I not good enough for them?It reminded me of Hudson. The only reason he paid for me to have my hair done or get massages was when he had important events. He needed me to be the trophy wife.I thought that he just wanted to doll me up but he specifically asked for my hair to be straightened because he didn't like my curls. I don't want the Triplets to do the same thing to me.“Don't look so worried. They asked me to get your permission first before anything was done. They wanted to make sure that you were comfortable and—” she paused
Mia's POV:I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little floored by this gesture. There were enough flowers to start a whole shop outside my door and now, the driver.“Oh, yes!” Melanie squealed. “Look at you, you're so lucky.”I raised a brow at her. “What do you mean ‘me’? We're both riding to work.” I corrected her.Her face immediately flushed and she shook her hand in front of me. “Oh, no, I couldn't do that.” She chuckled nervously.“Well, I insist. Anywhere I go, you go.” I said sternly grabbing her arm and walking towards the driver. “And if the Triplets don't like that, then they're going to be disappointed.”Melanie and I took the car and the guards escorted us to the orphanage. It was a little overkill because it brought more attention to us than keeping us safe.“Thank you,” I said to the driver. He bowed and I lowered my head. He was older than me and I felt weird for having him bow at me. I watched him get back into the car and drive away.I let out a breath. “I think I'm
Mia’s POV:My eyes widened. Why were they here already? Did someone already inform them of my arrival? I looked out the window just in time to see them getting out of their cars. The guards stationed in front bowed.Oh. It must have been them. They had seen me come in here and they must have informed the Triplets. Either way, they were here and I had to meet them.I turned back to look at Melanie and Jennifer. “How do I look?” I asked, suddenly feeling self-conscious. I was meeting my mates for crying out loud and I was wearing what I considered a plain dress.“You look decent. Now, go!” Melanie said, pushing me to walk back to the entrance. Just as she did that, the Triplets appeared looking left, then right until they spotted me.Time seemed to stand still as they stared at me. Then, as if in slow motion, they walked towards me. My heart raced the closer they came.'Mate,’ Cassey growled, excitedly.“Um…” I started to say but I was lost on words. They were here and I didn't know wha
Author's POV:It had been several weeks since the Triplets had attended to anything relating to the council. Their focus was on Mia and the council of wolves needed them to finalize decisions relating to their pack.Neither Jackson nor Jace, was in the right frame of mind to make any decision. Not even Jaxon himself. They were obsessed with finding their mate. Every waking hour was spent pondering where she had gone.It was almost like she had disappeared from the surface of the earth and it scared them to bits to think about it. What was worse was how Jaxon was feeling. After imagining the scent of her at that cottage, he seemed to have lost all the qualities that pointed him out as the leader of the Triplets. He still thought about that cottage but he had been wrong. He knew that she wasn't the one but his heart had said that she was the one. It had confused him and overridden his sense of thinking. Jaxon began to doubt his judgment. If he wasn't sound enough to tell people apart, h
Mia’s POV:After they closed the store for the day, Glenda and I sat with cups of coffee. The sun had set a long time ago and the stars were out.“So that's one of the legendary Triplets who's your mate?” Glenda asked after she had taken a sip.MiIa nodded. “I’m still surprised that he didn't recognize me.” The thought gave her some semblance of peace. She would never be found here unless she wanted them to.But thinking that Jaxon must have been searching for me, broke my heart a little. He didn't look that good and there was a hint of a shadow under his eyes. Something was stressing him. Before he left the cottage, he had asked me where the nearest gas station was. I didn't know so Glenda had to come talk to him.‘Can you see how much he wants you?’ Cassey asked, finally speaking up after such a long time. I expected her to be agitated and to pressure me to go back. But strangely, she had been at peace. I attributed it to the magic of this place.Glenda hummed a response. “Your coff
