After several painful minutes, the shift was complete. I was finally in my wolf form but something felt different.

I looked down at my paws and froze. They weren’t the pure white color I was used to seeing. One was black, the other white. Confusion filled me.

I stood up slowly, feeling taller and stronger than before. My senses were sharper too. I could smell food cooking in the pack kitchen even though it was far away and on low heat. I could see the waterfall from where I stood. I could hear the heavy breathing of every wolf around me.

None of this had ever happened before.

“Shift back to your human form!” Logan’s Alpha voice rang out, loud and clear.

One by one, everyone shifted back except me.

My wolf was in full control now, and she refused to shift. She looked around, searching for Logan, but we were surrounded by people.

I heard their voices.

“What a freak.”

“I’ve never seen a wolf like that.”

“How is she half white and black?”

“Is that even possible?”

“She must be cursed.”
