CHAPTER TWENTY SIX 'maybe she deserved this'

“I'm happy to see you two are living a good life.” Violet looked in between Timi and Musa. She wouldn't never thought in a hundred years that those two would end up together but it seemed.. fate had a separate plan for them.

Even Timi have up his position in his state just for Musa. She must be important to him.. Many things must've happened to her which is probably why she was acting the way she was.

It was her fault too. In the past, she was harsh. Maybe she deserved this.

“Musa, although I don't know what happened clearly throughout the years, I'm pleased to see that you're alive. But this time, I'd like to take back my sword, it's really important to me.”

It was the only thing her aunt made her that she could have access to.

Her sharp edged saber.

Violet held out her hand and a box appeared in her hand. After learning her powers, she could summon anything she wanted of will.

Musa slowly let the sword fall to the side before watching gleefully as Violet opened the case, revealing the saintess sword. The one that had been passed around for generations.

The lady hiding behind Musa let out a gasp, “T-the sword, you really are the saintess. I thought you died by the cruel Star clan!”

“Today, I, Violet return your sword.”

Without thinking, Musa said, “I've kept your sword with me for many years so I've gotten used to it so I'll just keep it. You can keep the one in the case.”

Uak tightened her fist, “That is too much!” With that, she unsheathed her sword but once again Violet raised a hand, putting Uak to a halt.

“Unfortunately, I have no use for your sword. You may as well keep it.” Violet handed the sword to Musa who simply stepped back.

“I'm not as shameless enough to take two swords. Didn't you want my sword before? You may have it. I have no use for it anymore.”

Timi eyes shifted between the two women. Then he looked at Violet apologetically.

“Why don't we talk outside?”

Uak tightened her fist, pissed. Before, she used to peace against her Master impulsive attitude and now that her master wasn't Impulsive, it pissed her off. How dare they treat her like this after went through all the trouble to protect them?!

It was disgusting. And seeing Violet act weak in front of the fools, made her even more disgusted.

As Violet stepped out with the stupid man, she glared at the two foolish women and joined the two outside, giving them space to talk but not enough that she wouldn't hear their conversation.

“Violet, you look different..”

“What did you expect?”

“Well.. You used to look so beautiful but.. Back then, even when you fought you had no scars. How come your neck and underarms look so..”

Violet glanced at her arms briefly. She had moved them up when she felt her body heating up. To her, her scars weren't as deep as before but he was so concerned about it when she wasn't.

Timi was no longer the same — No, she didn't know him. She didn't know him back then. Just the role he picked as Piggy. It made her feel sick.

No wonder Musa became this thin and ugly — Personality wise. He had a cute face but his heart was filled with venom and apathy.

He saw her scars but she saw.. courage. Not many would get back on their feet after going through what she went through not even the gods. Timi was a mortal. He was not worth explaining things to. Even if she did, he probably wouldn't understand them.

So she handed Timi the case, “Keep it for Musa, she might want it in future.”

Timi slowly collected the Case and bowed, “Are you really going to give up your sword? I can still get it for you if you want.”

“If you really wanted to, you'd get me the sword with no problem. Have a nice life and keep the young lady safe.” With that, Violet turned away, with Uak following behind her.

When Uak caught up, she asked, “Why didn't you fight? You could've easily gotten rid of that woman and get your sword back.”

Violet laughed, “And why would I do such a thing?”

Uak frowned, “She called you ugly.”

“And you think that's good enough reason to kill?”

Uak pursed her lips. Now that she said it out loud it sounded a bit.. extreme.

.“I can't control their perception of me. Even if I could with my strength, it would no longer be their true perception.”

Uak nodded, “But still, how could she call you ugly? That is too much and the lady just stood there without saying a word.”

“I don't blame her,” Violet said, “I did get her into trouble.”

The moment Violet stepped on the path that led back to town, she felt something in her energy field. On her way to the cottage in the woods, she had spread her energy field throughout the path she took, to discover people with magic who were also tailing Musa.

And now, she caught one.

She chuckled, “Come out!”

Uak was confused, “Who?”

“As expected, you are very perceptive.” A soothing voice whispered from behind a sturdy tree. As the man stepped out, he smiled seductively at Violet. “Hello there, beautiful. Why don't we have some tea and chat?”

The man had gorgeous brown eyes and flawless skin. The robe he was wearing looked like they were from the most expensive silk and his poise was graceful. He was indeed beautiful and Violet found him familiar.

She took a step forward to the man and immediately recognised him. Alaric. The bastard that killed her in Star rock.

She unsheathed the sword by Uak's waist and slammed him against the tree, keeping the sword by his neck.

“What are you doing here?” She asked, angrily.

Alaric smiled, holding the sword with the tip of his finger. “That's not how you great your old friend, is it?”

Violet looked into his brown eyes and immediately frowned, “You've been trailing me this entire time!”

Alaric held back his smile, “Is it that easy to tell?”

Uak appeared next to Violet, “Master, who is this guy?”

Violet pulled the sword away from Alaric's neck and sheathed it by Uak's waist. “An old friend.”

Uak scratched the side of her head, “All your old friends are mentally sick, Master.”

Alaric eyes widened, “Except me! I've never done any wrong to your master.”

“He's right. He only ripped out my heart. Without the second piece of my soul, I would be dead.”

Without hesitation, Uak pulled out her sword and held it to Alaric. “How dare you kill my master!”

Violet sighed, this was too awkward. She wasn't dead right now.

Now that she thought about it, her life and experiences were very sad and awkward.

“Uak put down the sword.” Violet said before grabbing Alaric tightly by his wrist, “We're going to take this guy hostage.”

“Where is your home?”

Alaric chuckled under his breath and in a second, Violet and Uak were enveloped by warmth. Violet looked around and saw that they were in a huge bedroom with exquisite and perfect furniture. Violet jaw dropped.

“W—what.. How did you do that magic?”

Uak was in a shocked state and refused to move.

Alaric looked at Violet, “You shouldn't be surprised. I teleported you and your servant to my mansion. Shouldn't you be grateful?”

Violet was perplexed, “B-but I threatened you, how could you take me to your house directly? Are you scared that I'll kill you?”

“Of course I'm scared but wouldn't you kill me sooner if I didn't obey your wishes?”

Uak finally regained from her shocked state. “Of course, my mistress is cold blooded and unfriendly. She'd kill you with one strike if you don't obey her wishes!”

“T-then would you like some tea first? I can call my maids to make you some..”

“No. Tell your maids to leave. It doesn't matter how many they are. It's safer to let them go than let them stay and encounter me. If the officials find out that they've seen me, they'll die.”

“What about me? I've already seen you and you're in my house. Don't you fear the officials will kill me if they find out?”

Violet scoffed, “You killed me before. It'll be fair if you die for me.”

Alaric sighed but didn't say anything. “You may rest in here for now. I'll get your servant another room.”

“My name is Uak,” Uak informed as she followed Alaric out of the room.

Violet immediately said on the floor cross-legged in meditation. Why was Alaric acting different?

Three years ago, he was a strict evil guy but now it looked like he deliberately followed her to get her to live in his house. It was really weird but every single step seemed thought out. She also wondered if he was the one that paid for her and Uak's meal and sent her roses.

If it was him then.. What was his motive?

“Purple hair,” A voice said teasingly.

Violet opened her eyes and looked up to face Alaric who was staring down at her with a smile that looked creepy by the way. He was holding two bags in a hand and a mat with other.

Violet eyes widened, those were the bags Uak carried on her back throughout their journey. Why was it in Alaric's hands.

“Don't worry, your servant is in her room. She said I should send your bags to you and I decided to fetch you a mat so you don't have to meditate on the cold tile.

Violet scoffed, “Take me to her.”

Alaric dropped the bags and mat on the floor before leading Violet out of the room and down the hall. There, a room stood independently.

Violet opened the door only to see Uak sleeping soundly. Inconvenienced, she walked to Uak and took a closer look to her face. She had been through enough to be wary of people especially someone like Alaric who killed her before.

After seeing that Uak was fine, she exhaled.

“Why don't we have tea and chat downstairs?”

“No. I don't want your maids to see me?”

Alaric chuckled, “Not a problem. I sent them to sleep with a magic spell.”

Violet laughed as well. That was so like him. He was a murderer and all sorts of things. She didn't expect more from him.

“Shall I hold you hand?” Alaric asked as they reached the staircase.

Violet scoffed and walked down by herself. Her castle had more stairs than his and she used to walk up and down there without any help. Why would she need any help now to walk the stairs?

Alaric followed closely behind her. Then led her to the kitchen where he prepared their table and served tea.

Violet took a sip of the tea then looked at Alaric, “Good tea.”

“I know. I make the best tea.” He smiled without showing teeth.

“Now, why were you following me? I know you also lured me here to your mansion on purpose.”

Alaric only kept smiling, “Enjoy the tea, purple head.”

“What are you planning, Alaric?” Violet yelled, and this time, she slammed her fist on the table causing it to echo throughout the mansion.

Alaric smile faded and he looked at Violet before staring down at his hand. “Actually I.. I wanted to..” Alaric trailed off, tightening his fist. “After the death of Chief June Malfoy, I looked for you to seek revenge. I got information on Poison first so I went to look for him. Two years ago, I found him and he told me that I was a fool.”

“What else did he tell you?” Violet asked.

“About the relationship between you and one of my ancestors.” Alaric bit his lip regretfully, “He also told me about what happened in Thestryn—”

“—What happened in Thestryn is none of your business.” Violet interupted, “Poision shouldn't have told you that.”

“It was I who insisted.” Alaric looked up, “I'm sorry for selling you out back then and killing you. You were just a kid, I should've been more reasonable but I was heartless and foolish. I'm sorry.”

Violet remembered. Of course those were painful memories. She understood it was painful but she didn't feel it.

“I killed the chief of your clan so I guess it's fair.”

“No.” Alaric said, “It was me. If I hadn't kill you, you wouldn't have to revive with a muddled memory. It is because I harmed you that you were scared and couldn't control your powers. I take responsibility for Chief June's death so you don't have to carry that burden anymore.”

Violet swallowed. “So what does that have to do with why you were trailing me?”

“Well.. I-i-i,” Alaric looked back at Violet, flustered.

“I.. wanted to apologise. I, Alaric am sorry for my past misdeeds. Please forgive me.” With that, he bowed his head.

Violet looked at him, surprised. “Were you the one that paid for Uak and I dinner two days ago?”

Alaric bit his lip nervously.

Violet sighed internally. “Then you're the one who sent the flowers.”

“...” Alaric was dying of embarrassment. He never thought he was that easy to read but just by a glance, Violet could see all his unspoken words.

“Why would you send red roses? Do you even know what they mean?”

“Well..” Alaric trailed off, “It means bloodshed. You did kill a man that day.”

Violet nodded, that did make sense.

So he sent the flowers to tell her that he knew what she'd done.

“Then.. did you send the housekeeper to drop something in my bathtub?”

Alaric shook her head, “Which housekeeper? What did she drop in your bathtub?”

Violet exhaled, It wasn't Alaric then.

If it wasn't him then it was probably Poison.

That was another trouble. Right now, her focus was on her task here in Lagsu.

With her powers, it should be easy.

“Alaric, Uak and I will stay here in your mansion for a short time if you don't mind.”

“Alright. By the way, what brings you to Lagsu?”

“Thank you for the tea.” With that she arose from the table and started to leave the kitchen. “Won't you have dinner?” He asked behind her.

“No.” She simply said as we found her way up the stairs and to her new room.
